Excellent Ribs at Jerry's Old Time Inn. Been years since I've been there, but have been thinking of them all day since I read the SOS post this morning!
Most places I've gone to have good ribs, but they must be the fall off the bone kind. I like going to Famous Dave's for the rib tips, Mineshaft for their rib night and I used to like going to Brew City BBQ when they were around. Schwefel's in Oconomowoc has good ribs and I like their twice baked potatoes.
I don't like eating messy foods when I'm out. Besides I prefer my boneless country style ribs soaked in sweet baby rays sauce that I make at home the best.
My Sig-other is a "fall off the bone" rib guy, or frankly, just "boneless", he doesn't like to have to WORK for his food! HA! But, keep in mind, if the rib meat "falls off the bone" it's overcooked. I personally prefer the "naw factor", makes me feel a bit, well, neanderthal. Big chewy Pork Spareribs with a Dry-Rub.....like you find at Rendevouz in Memphis. Sometimes I WILL brush a tangy sweet/hot sauce on them right before they are done on the grill.....I do prefer eating them at home because they are messy.
Corky's in Nashville, when I lived there, was always good, and they offered dry and wet, so you could please everyone. I never felt self-conscious eating ribs there though because EVERYONE was!

Then I'll take my overcooked ribs. The fall off the bone kind aren't so messy, because you can use a fork to pull the meat off.
Once we ate at a rib place and ribs were so tough, that I couldn't get the meat off the bone. A lot went to waste. I can't really say the name of the place because it's in Wis., but there was "Fat" in the name and my husband said, "I don't know how the owners got fat on these ribs, because I can't even get the meat off the bones."
Used to be on the east side (maybe still is). Now on Bluemound, a few blocks west of Highway 100. Haven't been in a looooooong time. Hope they're still there.
Made country style ribs at home last night.. no BBQ sauce so used apple jelly as a glaze
That does sound really good Dave. I will try that some time. I actually like the country style ribs the best, more meat and less work. lol In fact that boneless ones are really great.
I wait for the packs of "manager's specials" ribs.. I usually get 4+lbs 5-6 huge ribs for around $5..
This last pack I managed to feed myself and 4 other people off it! One of the ribs was the biggest I'd ever seen, lol!

I haven't seen anything about the camp trip that the bubbler group takes each year at the Dells lately, but if you go I bet they will ask you to do a lot of the cooking! Between you and McKhay the cooking should be totally covered.
I like the ribs at the Ho Chunk buffet the best. They are the "fall off the bones" kind. I don't want to work too hard at getting them off the bones and into my mouth! LOL
