With Valentine's Day just around the corner, I thought it would be fun to share stories about how you found "romance in Wisconsin". How did you meet and court your significant other? Your first love?
Are you a romantic when it comes to love?
How will you and your loved one be spending Valentine's Day?
You don't need to be someplace special as long as you're with someone special..

I'll let you know, as soon as i find romance in WI
Mine is rather boring how I met my husband. I knew met him 6 months before we even started dating. He had gone to school with one of my friends and she started talking to him at this bar we always went to. I was dating someone else at the time and wasn't interested or looking. In fact, the first time we met was so unmemorable that neither of us really remember the exact time we met. We think it might have been Halloween night as everyone was leaving the bar. At least we know what year we met. That much we can remember lol.
I know a few times a bunch of us would go after bartime to get something to eat. I thought he was obnoxious. He sure had a funny way of trying to impress me and it wasn't working. Not long after that I ended up dumping the mama's boy I was dating because I just always had more fun with my friends than him. I also realized that I attracted a number of different guys and that maybe I wasn't an ugly duckling after all. Soon I became interested in another guy and guess what? It wasn't my future husband either. This guy was quite the looker, but that soon fizzled because the guy was still hung up on an ex-girlfriend.
Then one night I got off work early on a Saturday night and still had plenty of time to get to the bar. I went down by myself and ran into a few girls I knew and future hubby was there by himself. We talked quite a bit that night and ended up slow dancing. I had known for a while that he had a crush on me and I started to change my mind about him. We started dating after that, which didn't make my friend happy. She called my future husband up one night to tell him that I just liked him as a friend. I never told her this and I hadn't even told her that we had gone on a date. She must have gotten her info from someone who saw us as the bar that night. Not sure why she got her nose into it, since I hadn't even called that week. I know my husband had a hard time sleeping that night and he called me the next day to find out what was going on. I'm glad it got straightened out in the end.
That's my not so romantic story, and us deciding to get married is even less exciting of a story. My husband actually never asked. We just decided one day to go ring shopping. There was no surprise. I know. Boring!
I can still watch Sleepless In Seattle and You've Got Mail over and over again. Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan have that chemistry on screen. Cute movies.
But my favorite is still THE NOTEBOOK.

Me too. Sig-other is not one to send/give cards...........period.
Is it worse to not have someone to give you a Valentine? Or to have someone that never does?

Same as every year, i will take my kids out to dinner or cook at home & give them a stuffed animal which is usually holding a video game or movie that i know they want, however this year it will be holding a gas card for each.
They have probably out grown the stuffed animals since i been doing stuffed animals since they were babies (they have wayyy too many from me lol) BUT they expect it and the gas card is just to catch them off gaurd lol (and i know they need gas more than a game/movie).
It's our little valentine and easter tradition.

I don't recall ever getting a Valentines gift from anyone other than my son once when he was in like kinder or 1st grade, i still have it too, it's a card with his picture (on the school jungle gym) in it & says "i love you mommy, you are specil to me" LOL
To answer your question, i have always done for my kids on Val day. Don't recall ever exchanging with a man or receiving, so i'm not sure it would matter to me either way, being single or not being single & not getting anything.
Kinda late now, but maybe next year we can have a valentine exchange... kinda like an x-mas card exchange amongst us
I'm still waiting for xmas cards from my card exchange I did with my graphic design friends. I think 2 or 3 haven't sent yet. I may get a nice spring card from them someday.

wow what would be the point of sending x-mas cards in February?? much less later than that! crazy!
Well, it is Valentine's Day, today, and in true Wisconsin fashion, my husband and I went to a gun show today!
Actually, I have a Wisconsin love story. My husband and I met via Yahoo messenger and although it is not always considered the best way to meet, it worked out well for us. I saved a lot of those chats, and his first words to me were "What beautiful kitties!" In reference to the picture of my cats that I had on my profile. We started out as friends, as I was not interested in someone who smoked I did not think any more about him. It ended up that when I really needed someone to be there for me, he was there. In the end I decided to overlook his bad habit of smoking, and we managed to fall in love with each other.
Things may not always be perfect, but everyday is a good day with him in my life, and he says he has never been happier in his life.
I met my last girlfriend online, had no thought of looking for anyone at the time.. I lived in Virginia Beach and she lived in Nebraska and was going thru a divorce. We talked online for just over a year before she decided to fly out to meet me and a short time later I flew out to Nebraska to meet her family. Six months later, I moved out to Nebraska to be with her. We ended up moving to Missouri and while things ultimately did not work out, I have lots of great memories of the years we were together.. maybe not romance in Wisconsin but love is universal!
