Waldenbook Stores closing in Wisconsin

I just received an email from the Waldenbook Store located in the Regency Mall, Racine which is close to our city. The email was an announcement that their store will be closing Jan 24th. I was not only surprised but disappointed as well since we always visit this store when we stop at the Mall. They have a lot of good 'bargain' books that we seem to always find something to buy and their customer service is wonderful. Waldenbook Store will be missed when we shop the Mall now.

I did some checking and found the following article that explains the closing of 250 Waldenbook stores with 10 stores in various locations in Wisconsin.

Things are going to get alot worse before they get better.. we've been losing a local business at the rate of 1 or 2 a week lately it seems..

I like Walden Books (but prefer Barnes and Nobles). Will affect alot of families..

I also wanted to point this out in the article.

Borders' plan includes dumping Amazon.com as its online retailer and creating a new proprietary Borders.com

I think that's a mistake.. I'm sure it's financially motivated but it's very expensive to build an online presence/customer base. I'd stay with Amazon.
