MAJOR WINTER STORM NOW IMMINENT OVER SOUTHERN WISCONSIN...

.A MAJOR WINTER STORM IS EXPECTED TO SIGNIFICANTLY IMPACT THE AREA LATE THIS EVENING THROUGH EARLY FRIDAY AFTERNOON. A LOW PRESSURE SYSTEM WILL GATHER STRENGTH OVER THE CENTRAL PLAINS EARLY THIS EVENING... THEN TRACK NORTHEAST ACROSS NORTHERN MISSOURI... CENTRAL ILLINOIS... AND CENTRAL INDIANA BY FRIDAY MORNING. THIS IS A CLASSIC STORM TRACK FOR HEAVY SNOW ACROSS SOUTHERN WISCONSIN.

WIDESPREAD SNOW... HEAVY AT TIMES... WILL FALL ACROSS ALL OF SOUTH CENTRAL AND SOUTHEAST WISCONSIN. SNOWFALL ACCUMULATIONS WILL RANGE FROM 9 TO 13 INCHES SOUTH OF A LINE FROM MADISON TO MILWAUKEE... TO 8 TO 11 INCHES NORTH OF THIS LINE... WITH 7 TO 9 INCHES NORTH OF A MONTELLO TO FOND DU LAC LINE.

Glad the storm was slow. Going thru IL yesterday they had partly cloudy skys and the temps were in the 30's.
In Indiana yesterday they were at 48 while I was there! Nice blue skys. Would not even know a storm was coming....

Coming home was also a piece of cake. No sign of the storm. And to make things a little better Kurth Automotive of Sullivan, WI fixed my van while I was out of state for the day and had it ready for me when I got back!!

Oh lovely, where am I supposed to go with all this snow? I have snow banks as tall as me by the driveway. My husband was so crabby coming home to all that snow in the driveway tonight. He delivers to the grocery stores and none of the stores ever think to shovel out the area for the semi drivers that deliver. He had to shovel 5 different grocery stores just so he could get his semi in. What's with these stores never shoveling for the delivery people? It's not my husband's job to shovel!!!

Anyone want to jump on a plane and move to a tropical island until April?

After this next storm and cold front coming it I don't think you will have to do much to convince us all to get out of here and move somewhere tropical.

I really miss the beaches.. but I'd miss winter too..

I may be crazy but I really don't mind storms or blizzards.. then again, other than the Blackout in '65, I don't think we've ever lost power during a storm.

We didn't even lose it during this ice storm in 1991, tho we lost our cable for a few days while they repaired everyone else's!

I don't know if we'll get that much but ya never know.

cold front moves through the area. Snow accumulations of 2 to 6

winter weather advisory for snow & blowing snow.which is in

in effect from 3 am sun to 12 pm cst monday.

Snow will develop over so. Cntl wi late this
afternoon.lasting through this evening. Snow accumulations of 2
to 6 inches are possible.with the highest amounts across
marquette & green lake counties.& the lowest amounts near
the il border.
in addition.winds will strengthen to 20 to 30 mph.with gusts to
40 mph.behind a strong cold front after midnight tonight. This
will result in blowing & drifting snow. These conditions should
continue through sunday.

The increasing winds & falling temps will also cause
wind chill values to drop to between 20 below & 30 below zero
late tonight through mon morning.

A winter weather advisory for snow & blowing snow means that
visibilities will be limited due to a combination of falling and
blowing snow. Use caution when traveling.especially in open
areas.& on no. To so. Roads.

A wind chill advisory means that very cold air & strong winds
will combine to generate low wind chills. This will result in
frost bite & lead to hypothermia if precautions are not taken.
If you must venture outdoors.make sure you wear a hat and
gloves.

I wouldn't miss winter, that's for sure. I hate being cold and don't like snow. Snow might be pretty to look at, but I have to drive everywhere, so I really hate it. I also hate being stuck indoors all winter and having to bundle up until I can hardly move in winter.

Somehow, I don't remember the ice storm in 1991. Was that in Wis? I remember having ice sometimes, but not that bad.

I remember that storm, except up where I am we had lots of snow. I was happy, I got to ride my snowmobile early

I was living in Rochester NY when we had that ice storm.. we lost as many as 50-60% of our trees to ice that year.

I didn't realize it from just looking at our yard but when i went out to the grocery store just around the block, it looked like Ground Zero after a bonb bleast with trees, branches, and other debris all over. Needless to say, the supermarket (and most of the city) was closed and power was out to a huge portion of the area.

Our power was fine but most of our neighbors lost power..weird!

My youngest brother had his car stored in our back lot. He had a car alarm that would call his phone silently if the alarm went off and he called us all night to go out and take branches off his car that were setting the alarm off! Fuinny!

Ice was so think I had to force our front door open to get out.

Hubby and I got in the truck today and headed to Best Buy then out to eat. Man, I froze my face and ears off just in the parking lot. Almost like instant frostbite. I couldn't get warmed up. The store was cold, the restaurant felt cold, and even the truck never got that warm.

I went by Walmart and it looks like they have their own little mountain range going with all the snow piles.

Watching the Weather Channel.. lots of people have it bad all over. Some, much worse than we do (knock on wood).. I have friends in Maine that are having a heckuva time with all the snow there.

I talk to a lady online from Maine and she said the all the ice is crazy. Trees and telephone poles are snapped. She had electricity for the most part, maybe lost it for less than a day. Seems like they get hit with bad ice storms out east every few years.

I'm stuck in a big snow drift right now if anyone wants to play the tiny violin for me..... better yet ~ wanna come help get me out!?

Drove into the drive way and took the loop and didn't realize it was a huge drift and WHAM I'm stuck!
