Thanksgiving in a couple days! So, what's for dinner? Turkey, ham, or Spam? Who's coming? Big dinner or tv dinner?
As for myself, I've been eating turkey breast sandwiches off and on for the last 3 weeks so it's a small ham for me with pineapple topping, plenty of mashed potatoes, and either sweet peas or creamed corn. There's just me so I won't be making too big a meal (tho I'll miss having stuffing ).
How about you? Is this Thanksgiving going to be different in any way for you this year, compared to previous years?

Same as usual for us this year--turkey with all the fixings: sausage and apple stuffing, garlic smashed potatoes, candied yams (real candied yams--NO marshmallow crud), corn, fabulous fresh dinner rolls, pumpkin pie with whipped cream (not fake cream from a tub or, worse yet, a spray can), apple pie, plus whatever side dishes people bring. A feast. A giant pig-out. Can't wait!

We eat at my parents house. Turkey, baked potatoes, yams (baked whole without any of the sweet stuff), gravy, cranberry from the can, stuffing (not always the same kind), warm biscuits, pumpkin pie with whipped cream, and some kind of veggie like carrots, green beans, or corn. Some red wine with the meal, also.
A couple of years ago my mom made an apple pie with a pecan toffee sauce drizzled over the top crust. Was that ever good.
One year I made mock apple pie and fooled everyone. They swore it had to have some kind of apple in it.
We mostly gave up on doing 2 Thanksgivings in one day. Now we skip my in-laws house. It's just too much and then I feel rushed when I'm at my parents. One big meal is enough.

My daughter and I share the cooking/baking. We plan to eat at her house this year. I'm actually cooking 2 big Turkeys with homemade stuffing. One here all day and one at her house. That way we have plenty of Turkey for days. Lot's of great leftovers!
We will have all the usual sides, mashed potatoes/gravy, relish tray, dinner rolls from the bakery, whole cranberries, green bean casserole, deviled eggs, the list goes on and on. It's quite impressive when you get both of us cooking up a storm. lol
We will also have about 6 different types of homemade pies. My daughter makes a homemade apple pie to die for, and she also is making blueberry, strawberry, cherry, and a mixed berry cream pies, and I'll bring the pumpkin pies. Love the pies! Have to have plenty to go with the left overs.

I at least hope it's a "big screen" tv dinner! Even the "Hungry Man" dinners are just a "snack" to me..
I actually like some tv dinners and sometimes have to force myself to cook and eat an actual meal at home. Holidays give me the perfect excuse to do that.
I'd invite you over if you didn't live so far away!

Yum!
The last time I spent Thanksgiving with someone we went to the Cracker Barrel. We ordered and the waitress gave us our nill all at the same time! We never saw her again thru the whole meal which wasn't very good anyway. I'll never go out to eat on Thanksgiving again.
Hm, rhubabrb pie.. I think I'd like some rhubabrb pie!

Yeah, I'd originally thought about cooking for the neighbors and inviting them over but I'm not feeling that ambitious at the moment. I'm actually not big on rubbing elbows at home.. like Randy, I like to be in control of my environment and I normally feed my neighbors and visit with them all week anyway so I will be "thankful" if I get to spend the day relaxing...
