Thumbs up Blowing and Plowing...

Considering winter is going to come, I am wondering what someone would charge to do the sidewalks on the property and the driveway...

If you have someone to do the snow blowing and plowing for your home or business, what do they charge you and how big of an area... I have NOT a clue of the going rate...

Re: Blowing and Plowing...

I think it's something like $25.00 - $35.00 an hour. If your using a plow truck it's $35.00+ for 15 minutes plus so much $$ after.

Re: Blowing and Plowing...

My driveway is 16' x 80' and $35 is the going rate. Had it plowed once last year after I'd just had enough!

Usually a little cheaper away from the big city, as long as you're not too far off the beaten track.

Regards,
Keith

Re: Blowing and Plowing...

We were always lucky in that we usually had neighbors with a plow.. often we'd wake up to see our drive had already been plowed! Now, that's neighborly!

At $35 a pop, it's almost worth the wear and tear on your truck to add a plow!

Re: Blowing and Plowing...

Those are harsh prices ouch! I dont have to worry about snow removal, however my sister paid once a few yrs ago to have hers done & decided at the going rate it would pay off to buy a snow blower, with the massive snow fall last year, she is sure glad she did & my son used it to make some extra cash, doing several of her neighbors driveways and sidewalks

If we get lots of snow and you have people lined up to plow yeah there's good money in snow plowing.

On the other hand you'd need to buy a plow ( new or used ) and the maintenance on the plow truck can really eat into your profits. If the truck breaks down how would you get your customers plowed? Another spare plow truck?

Then comes the insurance for the plow truck. If you have a great year with lots of jobs lined up then it pays for itself plus extra money in your pocket. A bad year and you loose money.

Re: Blowing and Plowing...

What kind of area are you in... A town / City / Country...

Are you close to what town...

Are you on a corner lot...

Do they also do the front sidewalk, around the house... If so do they shovel or blow...

Do they do the steps for you and salt / sand...

Do they Un - Plow your plowed in car, even if you are on the right side of the road for alternate side parking...

Re: Blowing and Plowing...

I live in the middle of no where.... Rome, WI ~ just off Hwy F

I'm 5 miles south of Sullivan on some back roads.

No side walks or steps to do. Just one big dirt horse shoe drive way.

Salting/sanding is extra.
