Donating a car for charity in Wisconsin, charity vehicle donations

I have a hybrid that is going to cost too much (more than blue book value) to get fixed so I'm looking at donating the vehicle for a tax deduction.

In researching vehicle donations I've come across some national charity sites. I'm wondering if anyone has experience with any of these.

I added 'Wisconsin' to my initial search because I was looking for Rawhide Boys Ranch. Donated a vehicle to them many years ago. Since then I've done a couple of tours of the place and been totally impressed with their facilities and programs.

The first one I'm looking at is Donate your car---Free Hotel
1. Get a free vacation voucher

Donate your car and receive a voucher for a free 2 night and 3 day hotel stay. You can choose from over 80 resort areas.
VACATION VOUCHER DETAILS

2. Give a Child Hope

Donate your car to benefit Joy for Our Youth. J.O.Y. is a 501(c)(3) charity organization providing for the physical, emotional, and spiritual needs of distressed and at-risk Jewish youth. MORE

3. Save with a Tax Deduction

Donate your car & receive a tax deductible receipt. Make the smart choice and save more with a tax deduction. You can save time too, donate your car online! MORE

4: 24 Hour Free Towing

We'll arrange to have your vehicle picked up in 24-72 hours from your intial contact with us. The towing is free of charge from all 48 states. CAR DONATION FORM

5. Helpful Customer Service

With our experienced, trained operators to guide you through the car donation process, you'll be in capable hands. No errors, no confusion, no complications! Give us a call at 877.527.7454 anytime between 8 AM and 11 PM, Sunday through Friday. It's easy and fast to donate your car.

Another, Wisconsin Car Donation Information -- how to donate a car in Wisconsin, shows answers to these questions:

Limiting liability seems to be an important part of what needs to be done.

Rawhide Boys Ranch has a donation page at Rawhide Boys Ranch*-*Donate an Item

Rawhide info at that page includes:
Just Three Easy Steps

  • Complete the Donation Questionnaire to help us determine if your donation will provide a benefit to the boys at Rawhide or call toll-free 1-800-RAWHIDE (729-4433) to speak with a knowledgeable Donor Service Representative.
  • Once you've completed the Donation Questionnaire, your donation information will be evaluated online and you will know immediately if your donation will provide a benefit to the boys.
  • Once your donation has been submitted you will see a screen with instructions on how to proceed. If you provide an e-mail address, you will also receive a follow-up e-mail containing links for your reference. Instructions will vary depending on the type of donation, condition and location.
Tax Benefits

A large portion of Rawhide's operational needs are met through the proceeds from the sale of donated items. Our experienced, professional sales team will work hard to maximize the financial benefit to the boys and your potential tax benefit.Learn More About the Benefits of Donating
Anyone else have any experience with one of these, or another vehicle donation place?

Regards,
Keith

Sorry I can't help you with the best charity websites you listed.

What kind of car do you have, a Toyota Prius? I want one, lol. What's wrong with it, I'm quite handy with fixing things

All electric is my goal one day. Forget plug-ins, the cars of the future will charge themselves

Re: Donating a car for charity in Wisconsin, charity vehicle donations

Yes, it is a Prius. Died at just over the 100,000 mile warranty.

Over $5k to fix the transmission, that's likely after fixing the first item for over $2k - and that after a fuel pump already fixed for $750.

On top of it all, I DO NOT TRUST SAFRO TOYOTA, the dealership where I bought it.

Regards,
Keith
