I did that last winter, not just in my yard but I went to a county park to take pictures of the snow sticking on the branches and ice hanging from things. I even got yelled at for walking on the cross country ski trails while taking pictures. Oops! I didn't know any better. Normally those are hiking trails in summer.
This year I'm going a different direction with my winter pictures. Instead of pretty snow pictures, I'm going to be photographing the ugly side of winter. Like those nice bergs of snow that hang from the car or someone shoveling snow. Why did I decide to do this? I talk to people online from all over and some have never experienced real snow or winter. They have this idea it's not that cold and it's aways pretty. I was telling them how hard it is to drive in and it's not fun to shovel. They never think of that side, so I'm going to show them. One of the guys said to me, thanks for spoiling my fantasy hahaha. Just wait until I show them a dirty snow bank photo LOL. This should be fun. I'm going to get my friend from Canada to join in on the fun with her pictures.
Well this is what my yard looked like a week after we all went out and raked. So, I raked this all up and we still have leaves out there again. It's a never ending battle I think.
Walking around I was able to see a lot of interesting Fall 'stuff' lol (keep in mind I took these about a week or so ago). Nature has already transformed some of the areas again. But here is a pretty bush....
My daisies were very pretty this year and sadly I thought they were all done. Then a few decided to come back after the first frost. This one was very strange with RED color on one of the leaves. This is actually part of the petal and not from something red dripping on it.
Oh how I have great memories of rocking in my chair on our new brick patio during the summer evenings. Now it sadly looks ready to go away in storage for the winter.
My yellow mums gave a great show this Fall only to look really gone for the season now. I so love the Fall Colors and it's sad when you see it all give away when the cold hits.
OK.. I had to add these last two pictures. This was taken during the summer when I was watching a beautiful bird feast on this flower. (it actually was a weed I could not pull since I knew it would attract more birds).
Thank you. I had to put the summer pic in though (yeah..it was hard to look at it), but I found it interesting how much the same plant looked after the cold hit. It also reminded me how we all need to help feed the birds that decide to stay here over the winter months. With all the snow being predicted for this winter the birds will need all the help we can give them.
I've always thrown out bread crusts for the birds, but decided not to do that anymore after seeing the neighbor's dog come over here to eat it all the time. He also came over to our yard to do his duty, which really sucked since we don't have a dog and I don't want to clean up after someone else's. No more bread for the birds or the dog from now on.

I use to do that to but found it attracted other animals I did not want around here too. Bird Feeders are the best when hung in the tree. Also, a pine cone with peanut butter is a nice treat sometimes or I also have a suet feeder.
