I just noticed that the mini peanut butter cups I bought at Dollar Tree aren't peanut butter like they always were before. These are espresso. Any takers? yuck!
I am not one to judge someone who gets assistance because they need it, but will admit it ticks me off to see able bodies out living it up & getting government money to sit on their @$$ all day.
Oh, knew what you meant and I am the same way. I sit there sometimes in the office and watch some of the people there and it just burns me up.They are just working the system and sitting at home.
What I meant was there is the other side now more than ever tho of which I also see while sitting in the office waiting my turn. They are the ones that had a life and everything is taken away without them deserving it. The ones that had a great job and lost it, the ones that worked for many years and find their job is lost because the business closed up due the the times we now are faced with. The ones that are struggling to get back on their feet and figure out how they no longer have their home, or have an education and can only find a dish washer's job now but yet their bills are much higher than that. It's really something to sit and look around sometimes when you are waiting a turn. It's all a different situation than years ago. Many other types of people are sitting in the chairs waiting for some form of relief. Sad how mess up this country has become. And then it does get even harder to see a woman with 5 kids sitting there laughing about knowing how to collect as her kids are running all over. Or hearing about those that get sooo much help that they sell their food stamps because they get more than they need. Crazy.
The sad part is, I don't see any change for the better anytime soon.

The job market just stinks. People really don't get it until they experience a job loss. You can explain until you're blue in the face, but it's just like any other serious situation. People won't understand or feel sorry for you until it happens to them.
Right now I'm wondering if I even have a job. I worked 2 days the first week of Jan. One day last week. And so far no days this week. I'll probably only get to go in on Friday. I'm going to say something too. I need money and they hired me saying I'd get more hours than I have been. It's not up to me to make sure there is enough work coming in. Don't tell me one thing and then say another thing after I'm hired. I've never had good luck with part time jobs. All the full time jobs I ever worked kept me busy every day.
It's funny how everything is just a dollar but when you check out it seems as if you always spend more than you think. One dollar per item adds up quickly.
It's nice to see the sun shinning but it would be much nicer if we had the warmth to go with it. My cats keep pawing at the window because they want me to open it. I guess they must think it's warm out there because of the sunshine too!
I'm staying put inside today and will probably clean house and do some other chores once I am able to pull myself off the computer. I want to keep my mind occupied so I don't worry so much about my sister's surgery today. She is having a shunt put in at 10:00 this morning and it's supposed to take from 3 to 4 hours. It was postponed from Tuesday because they were running behind on other surgeries. No idea why they didn't do it yesterday and had to wait until today.
I'm sure not looking forward to the big snow storm heading our way for tomorrow! Hope everyone has a good day!

Well just stay on the bubbler and chat all day and everyone will help keep your mind off things. Next thing you know you will be getting a call saying the surgery is done and all went well.

I'm afraid you may be correct, we wont see anything change for quite some time, if ever. Not for the good anyway
Selling food stamps is very common here. It is sooo bad that there is an investigation on several of the local mini marts. Apparently people been using their fs to shop in Rockford at the warehouse foods & Sams club, just to sell the merchandise to the mini marts here much cheaper for cash. I guess the investigation has been ongoing for a couple years & they recently busted 2 stores. The fs cards (called 'link' here) have no name on them, so the cashier has no way of knowing who is associated to any card. That makes it easy to buy fs here. Most sell them $2 stamps for $1, some go lower than that. My co-worker & I have been approached by employees asking if we wanted $200 in fs for $75 cash... NO THANKS! My job is too important to me, I wont chance losing it for a scam!
One lady has 5 kids and a boyfriend in her home. She gets $900 FS a month for her & the kids plus the boyfriend gets $200. She actually told us that she sells her $900 for $400 cash each month to the same person & has done this for years, because between WIC & food pantries she can survive on her boyfriends $200. CRAZY! She needs to stop sitting home watching soaps all day & get a job! Her bf use to work for us, but not sure if they both sit home now or what, but I have seen them walking town so they are still around.
People think they are doing these things to 'survive'...except they are just doing it to be lazy and mess the whole system up for those that truly need it. Just wrong.

I never go in and just buy what I intended. I buy five more items just because it's only another dollar. But, still, you can't beat it for saving money. Once in a blue moon you find the same item for 98 cents somewhere else, but with the money you save on other items, it's not a big deal.

I thought that was a fairly quick procedure. 3-4 hours sounds like a lot. Maybe that includes the total time she will be away from her room in recovery.
My head is spinning right now. I contacted 2 lawyers yesterday and have had 4 call me since. We are meeting with one today. I don't even know which direction to head with all this. All we want is to protect my husband's future medical expenses and employment. One of the lawyers was telling us that his company is a real bugger to work with. Not surprising since even my husband can't get photos or an accident report.

I hope she improves after this is all done.
Thanks Blue. I received word that all went well and the actual surgery did only take a little over an hour so they must've been thinking about recovery time when they said it would be longer.
Speaking about insurance, I just received notice that our insurance denied paying for the MRI I was supposed to have done tomorrow. Guess I'll be canceling it then because I sure can't afford to pay for it out of pocket.

Good for you Blue. You do need to think about what the future will bring and sine it doesn't sound like your husband's company has not been very cooperative so far, you need to do what is best for you in the long run and force them to do what's right. I wish you the best of luck!

My dad had to cancel his back surgery last year because Medicare denied it. several weeks later he ended up having emergency surgery (which medicare had to pay) on his back because it was a matter of never walking again if it wasn't done soon. I guess it has to be a life or death matter these days, even for elderly & disabled... SAD!
My dad is on Medicare because he is very sick & in IL Medicare doesn't cover dental, even though he is in agony over mouth pain... say what?? strange, since in WI we never had an issue with that!
I hope your insurance doesn't make you wait too long!

Comment by ME:

I received a call from the clinic this afternoon reminding me about my appointment tomorrow. I told them I got a letter from the insurance company denying coverage for the MRI and they said they received word from my insurance co. that they approved an MRA so I guess I'm going for that tomorrow now. I hadn't realized the doctor requested both an MRI and an MRA but only the later one was approved. Hmm.

Now I was told today not to post anything online about it. Not even on my Facebook, which is set to friends only and I don't even use my real last name (I use a nickname). Lawyer seems to think people have a way of seeing your page even when it's private and that they would find me. Good luck with that since I don't even have my settings so I show up in a google search. I unchecked that feature a long time ago. I bet a lot of friends I have on my facebook don't even know my real last name, just because that has never come up in a conversation. In bar everybody only needs to know your first name, which is where I know a lot of them from.

PK, as for your problem finding a job, you're not alone. I read on the job hunting forums all the time about people with degrees and lots of experience not even finding jobs and applying for all different kinds of jobs. I read about age discrimination all the time or whatever else the employer wants to use against a person. Age discrimination starts in the 40s and it's even worse after 50.
These days the employer is looking for a robot to do the work and will get rid of you over any little thing. There is no on the job training anymore. You have to know it all before you start and have to be a mind reader. Welcome to the Stepford Employee.
If employers don't want to hire us after 50, then we should be able to retire at 50 since we are considered damaged goods.
I guess I still have a job, but not the hours. That means I will have a very small paycheck. I wish business would pick up again. I suppose most of the customers are hibernating for now.
I'm just worried that if this keeps up, I'll get laid off for good. Like I need more stress in my life.
