Yeah, that's a Pfaltzgraff custard dish.. I have a service for 6 of that pattern but only one of the custards so looks like the cat inherits it.
Her name, oddly enough, is "Kitty"... imagine that! Seems to fit her too!
Finally got around to breakfast.. pancakes and eggs. I love pancakes but hate making them.. not very good at it.
Waiting for the maintenance guy.. have a defective switch in the kitchen he needs to fix. Meanwhile gonna sweep, mop, and throw the dishes in the dishwasher.. then I'll be back.

Yup, sounds like you've been adopted. So what's her name?
I remember how awful those couple of words, laid off, would feel. It's like the air gets sucked out of your world and you want to go into a panic attack with so many things running through your mind as to what to do, when or 'if' will you get called back, where will be the next job, etc
I know exactly how that feels. You described it well. I think employers are more likely to lay people off now then in years past. They don't care about the employee anymore. We are easy to dispose of. Then they wonder why employees have no loyality.

I've had to bust my butt, too, and I have the crack to prove it.

I think it's got more to do with the economy & the hardship that we are in thanks to a bad government being in place for way too long, more so than the employers not caring. They have to put whats best for their business before their employees, not because they dont care about them, but because they need to worry about surviving for their own families & financial situation. I personally cant fault them for that, i'd do the same if pushed by a bad economy.
I'm so happy i wont have to drive into work in the morning, i hear the snow is gonna be treturous.

I realize employers need to worry about their business, but I've been at places where lay offs have been handled very poorly and it didn't have to be that way. They need lessons in respect and compassion. None of them ever say thank you for all you've done and none ever say they are sorry for laying you off. Those words can make a big difference. At least then you know you are valued.
I had one place lay me off by sending a letter in the mail. I worked for them for 10 years. The letter was very cold. I was one of their best employees and in 10 years only missed one day of work. First it had started as a temp lay off and about 2 weeks after that my husband got injured at work. This meant we were both off of work. I called them about my situation and asked them to find me something to do. What did they do instead? They called back someone else that had been there for a lot less time than me and certainly wasn't a fast worker. Then they had the nerve to tell me that I have lots of other options. They also kept telling me that I would get called back to work, so I didn't bother looking for something else. Then one day they send me a letter in the mail saying don't come back. They didn't even want to give me my last paycheck. I had to fight them on that one.
After all that I ended up feeling like I had been kicked to the curb like a piece of garbage. At that point I felt so worthless and a lot of it was the way they treated me at the end. It took me a long time to work through it emotionally. It took me a long time to face people that I used to work with. I live in a small town and everyone knows about whatever happens. There's no way of not running into people here, unless you don't leave your house. Some of the people I worked with were also ones that said I'd never go back to school when I first brought it up. Now who gets the last laugh? Not only did I do it, but I won awards and honors for my good grades. What have they done since then? Nothing!
I didn't know we were getting pounded by snow again. Right now it's sunny out and hard to believe. Don't know where we are supposed to go with all this snow, but I have snowbanks at the end of the driveway that are up to my armpit level. I suppose my neighbor will be out there at 4:30 am to run his snowblower.
Wow, that kind of sucks that you didn't know that ahead of time. Maybe she was running from herself hahaha. I'm guessing others had a problem with her as well. That always seems to be the case with problem people. It's usually not just you that feels that way.
Hi everyone, it took me 45 minutes to catch up on all the posts I missed. I have been very sick and still not feeling well. Have a appt with the DR tomorrow. But I have to keep going every day cause all my fish and other pets depend on me. Not to mention I am hoping to beat the storm as I have to travel 2 hrs later today to pick my daughter up at college and bring her home for 5 weeks. It really is gonna bite driving that far when you don't feel well to begin with. Hope everyone here is well.

(starting at 6pm tonight into tomorrow morning & again tomorrow evening through saturday & possibly again sunday!) I wont be leaving my house for a few days... gonna hit the grocery store on the way home tonight.
So sorry to hear that you are not feeling well Kelly. Hope you get better soon. Glad to hear your daughter is coming home for awhile. I can imagine how exciting that must be for you.

Hope you're feeling better and you and your daughter are home safe and sound by now. How was the drive?
Oh, we got hit with the snow last night. Schools are all closed to the dismay of my kids. Last day before Christmas break and my son had a cool movie field trip planned that he will miss now.
Well I am not looking forward to trying to get out today. Can't even see what's out there since my kitchen window facing where I can see my van is all covered from snow hitting it.
My oldest daughter does a route in the morning before she goes to work for the day and just called and told me it took her 4 hours instead of the 2. She sounded exhausted and now has the day to look forward to yet.
Does anyone remember a few years ago when we use to wonder if we would get snow before Christmas....what happened to that?? This is more like Jan weather around here now. Makes me shutter to think what it will be like next month?
Good morning everyone!
I have been sitting here watching Good Morning America and they're talking alot about this "Midwest" storm! Oh my! O'Hare is all snarled, cancelled 300 flights I think.
Looks pretty crazy up there!
No comment....tick-a-lock.....on the weather here in NW FL.
Let' just say I will be wearing shorts, tank top and flip flops today.
OK, shoot me now.........my bad.
I feel like making omelettes....any takers?
I have time, had a couple people cancel their vacation plans (yeah!), they were heading to Chicago! ha ha! So I will have some moments today to get some things done before the onslaught of animals.
I hope everyone has their shopping completed, it doesn't look too travel friendly up there right now.
This IS so strange for this time of year, isn't it? Although, way back when, it used to be like that. Seems like ya'll haven't had very many white Xmas's in a while.
Stay warm!

I headed out for my vet apt in Indiana.... my alternator went out in Little Prairie. I had to get to the vet because I thought my skunk had a stroke.
Called my friend in Sullivan who came to my rescue and drove me and my skunk all the way to Indiana for the apt. We were 1/2 hour late.
We also stayed infront of the storm. In fact IN was 48 degrees!
My skunk did indeed have a stroke.....there were other complications and the best thing I could do for her was to help her cross over.
I came home with no skunk. To let her continue she'd have been suffering and in a day, a few days or a week later I'd have been racing her back to Indiana for the same thing.
Bye Bye Sweet Angel
