My oldest brother and SIL lived in Galena for awhile and my kids went camping out there several summers in a row for a school thing. Nice area out there. I was out there one time and loved all the little shops. The one I remember the most was a lace store. If it's there when you go you should check it out.
Funny that you mentioned Galena since that was brought up earlier. A new friend wanted to take us for the Christmas lights along with a neighbor of ours. The stores I remember are the novelty store and the store that sells all the sauces and dip with other food items.
New friend was over trying to help us out with the legal mumbo jumbo for my husband's work injury. He told us a ton of stuff I didn't know. He's been doing this for a long time since he got injured years ago and still has problems. I'm glad to have him on our side because I don't even know where to begin. He's even going to have a lawyer friend contact us. We did call around to a couple of others so we hope someone else can help us after the other lawyer bailed on us.
You know how you have the good feeling that after something has failed on you and then right after you meet someone who can help you out or something happens that is good? That's how I feel about this. If my neighbor hadn't gotten to know this guy and then introduced us the other day, we'd still be lost until a good lawyer sat down with us. It's about being in the right place at the right time and that doesn't happen very often. There's plenty of times we're at the wrong place at the wrong time though. This man gave us hope after we felt so defeated again.
I'm sorry but every time I read your comments about this neighbor and his kids I just cringe. This guy would hate me, I could not stop from telling him that he is raising a bunch of rude, wild little freaks that society will sadly have to put up with when they are nasty adults. People like that really should not have kids they don't have a clue. But then look how he acts he must have been just like them when he was young.
.
I hear you there. Those kids need to stop complaining when one child gets something on their birthday. They'll get their turn on their birthdays. Just like everyone else.

When the grandkids were littler I always used to buy their siblings something when it was one of the others birthdays. I quit doing it a couple years ago when they got older and could understand that they would have to wait until their birthday to get presents.

I will have to look for that when I go there, along with the store that Patti mentioned. Maybe I'll make a trip over there this week some time yet before we get any snow!

That's great that things are starting to turn around for the better! I hope they continue to improve for you!
Oh don't you just hate it when you need your camera and you realize you don't have it? I try to carry mine around with me all the time. If not I still have my camera phone.
I have never used the camera on my phone. I don't think I would even know how to take a picture with it. I usually keep my phone in my purse anyhow.
Speaking of purses, I just bought a new one the other day. It's so hard to find just the right one since I like them to be bigger but still be able to put on my shoulder and not be too heavy. Besides I needed a larger purse because once I get my concealed carry permit in the mail, I will be buying a cute little pink semi-automatic gun and I have to carry it somewhere.
I've been glad my camera phone takes such good pictures (for a camera phone).. has come in handy. I take pictures of things I see at the flea market or antique mall so I can remember to look them up when I get home. Plus I have a data cable to transfer pics to my computer.

Here I was thinking I'd have yesterday morning to myself because my buddy's kids would be in church and who shows up? The rest of the family went to church but the two oldest had their landlord drop them off at my place.
I gave the oldest girl her birthday gift so I could show her how to use it. Her sister started pouting that she didn't get anything and stopped talking to anybody. Finally I told them to call their dad to come pick them up and said if they couldn't act decently when they came over to not come over anymore and have a nice Christmas! I also got mad at their dad for not calling me Saturday night when he didn't bring the kids over like he said he would. I told him not to come over either I'm sure they'll call or be back within a day or two.

It really hasn't turned around since we haven't done much with it yet. This will be something that will take a very long time to get through. I'm not too thrilled with having to do so much work on it and just wish the lawyer would do it all. The friend we are talking to about this said he had to research a lot and collect a lot of papers, plus bug the lawyer a lot. Sounds like we have to do most of the work. Ugh

I hate big purses. I carry a small one with only a few items and I only take that with me if I have to. I put things in my pockets if I can. All I need in the store is my debit card when I shop. I never take my purse in a bar. There's too many thieves out there. Almost had my purse stolen in a bar back when I was about 20. A group of women were going around to the bars stealing purses. Bar owners even set up fake purses from the cops that would stain the hands of the would-be thieves.
I caught the girl red handed trying to grab my purse. Then they were all threatening to kick my butt because I informed the bar owner about it. One of my friends was so worried that they would cause trouble she made me apologize to the dumb girls. I was young and stupid back then and did what my friend told me just because I didn't want to get beat up. Ugh, I sure wouldn't be that nice now and let them off the hook. I don't think they ever set foot in that bar again though.

I do carry a purse from time to time but I'm like you, I put my things in my pockets as much as I can. I figure if someone is going to steal my credit/debit card or cash they are going to have to find it in my pocket and not just snag my purse off my arm. lol I mean seriously swinging a purse around is like waving a red flag saying...hey, check this out, money is in here, come and get it! lol
Not long ago I was in Marshalls Store and the check out guy actually stopped and exclaimed...you don't have a purse and high fived me. lol He said I was the only woman that didn't have a big purse and had to dig their wallet out etc. He thought it was so great to see someone with their card in their pocket and easy to get to. Weird. lol
Big purses = high maintenance girls. Just remember that, guys. Look for women with small purses or no purses. hahahahaha
LOL
Big purse = Woman packing gun.
In my case anyway...and soon to be many other women in this area too from what I've been hearing. Unless of course they buy a small gun and holster that fits in their pocket.
Little old ladies waiting til the last minute to dig their checkbook out of their suitcase-sized purse, then carefully filling in the check register and putting everything neatly away before moving out of the way.. in the Express lane.

I have not seen anyone write a 'check' at the check out in a long time. Now that I said that I will be unlucky and get one next time I go to the store. lol
It's not the little old ladies with the big purses. Look at the girls you see with the fancy clothes and lots of makeup on. You know, those trendy looking girls. They've got the small suitcase on their shoulder with all their makeup and half of their bathroom closet in there. That's high maintenance and men should avoid those girls unless they like girls with big purses that spend hours in the bathroom.
LOL Now that's a purse! lol I'm sorry but I lose my things in a purse 1/4 of that size I know I would never find anything in this purse. But I bet it would be great for swinging at someone when they make you mad. Watch out guys!
OK Blue are you trying to make me wonder if I'm seeing things and confusing me or something?? LOL LOL I know I just saw a bigger purse with a blonde lady! Now don't play games with me! lol What did you do with her???

I have trouble filling a small purse. I don't like having a lot in it because then I can't find what I need and it weighs too much. My makeup stays at home and so does my hairbrush.
I find it annoying to keep purses on my shoulder. So much easier shopping without one.

I changed the picture because this girl looked more high maintenance.
One thing you have to try, which I think is only around at Christmas, are Pepperidge Farm Tim Tam cookies. The caramel ones are so good and I hardly ever by store bought cookies.
