Wind chill is -37 below at 6:00A.M. this morning, too cold
OMG that is just too cold! Do you park inside or out? I have to park out and always worry I wont start when needed.
I have one of those oil pan warmers I can stuck under the van. Have not used it yet....but thinking of pulling it out. Just sucks laying on the ground to put on and take off....
I have a vehicle I'm working on in the garage so I'm parking outside and it sucks, too much ice and snow.
I think I got pampered parking inside and not having to worry about snow or ice. I really feel for the people that have to park outside and worry about if the car would start, I've been there.
On a good note, in a few months it's spring..
Carol, I think the best thing to worry about is your battery. If it gets really cold out connect a battery charger and plug it in. In the morning your van will start. If you heat the oil that's cool but your battery still starts your van Just make sure your antifreeze is mixed right and you shouldn't have a problem.
I dont park outside, my son does & he has had such a hard time starting it the past couple days, however last night i had him park with the front end facing the garage & used cardboard inside the grill area to help keep oot some of the cold... i started his car before i left for work & had no hesitation at all, so i put it in the garage after removing mine.
You're such a nice mom, Latina! I'll bet your son appreciates your thoughtfulness.
I dyed my hair this morning. (Yes, this gorgeous color comes straight from a bottle. ) I mixed the dye with the fixer or whatever that white stuff is, and it didn't seem to be making any color. So I looked at the tube I had just squeezed out and it wasn't the dye; it was the conditioner!!! Jeez--was that a senior moment? I added the dye to the mix and put it all on my hair. Not sure how it worked on my hair but it worked fine on my sweatshirt.
It's just as cold temp wise as yesterday out but the wind wasn't strong today so it seemed much better. I had to stop and get gas today and didn't freeze while standing there. Or am I just getting a wee bit used to it now?
Anyhow...I was happy to see that I can still fill my tank for under 40 bucks. Whew, this time of year I certainly am glad not to have to dump 70.00 in the tank like we were doing a few months ago.
Guess I am going to the Mall today in Illinois... Gurnee Mills. It's about 2 miles long in one direction..or is it 2 miles back and forth? Well, doesn't matter what it is I hate shopping the whole thing. You get to the end with packages and then you have to go all the way back. I have no clue what they were thinking when they designed this mall. I just learned where the stores are that I like and I go out and move my car closer to the next exit I need. Think most people do that now.
Either that or I will go to the regular Mall closer to home. I just need to finish with some things that I can't find now that it's closer to Christmas. Found things on the Internet last night but don't want to pay the extra $$ for shipping and worry if it's really going to come on time. Rather go out and find it and have it in hand.
One of my beighbors knocked on my door at 3 am this morning.. he'd had a fight with his girlfriend and was looking for someone to talk to so we sat around til 8 this morning watching movies (Wall-E and Bonnie and Clyde).. I also invited in a stray cat to warm up when I opened the door so I got a "two-fer".
We have quite a few strays hanging around. I'm not really a cat person but hate to see them out in the cold. I usually bring out any leftovers to share.
21 degrees here and icy.. we got an inch or two of snow overnight.. the air is kinda refreshing!

Thanks Tamed, he is such a bad & good kid wrapped in one, it's hard to say if he will appreciate lol Told him last night i'd start doing that since the only way for him to face the car toward the house to avoid so much wind would be to block my truck in, he said "cool" that was it.
I dyed my hair last night! LOL @ using conditioner by mistakle!
Baby, it's cold outside! I got my shopping finished today and got my cards in the mail. Next up is gathering together my cookie ingredients and baking this weekend. Then all I have is gifts to wrap. Christmas is so much work and I didn't even get around to putting up my decorations this year. Not sure that's going to happen. I know I need to go through all my Christmas bins and see what things I would like to get rid off. I just may haul out the decorations yet this week.
Sorry, I didn't get back here last night like I planned.. neighbors invited me over for Christmas cheer and didn't get home til "late" I actually am not much of a mixer but you gotta do what you gotta do.. I'm not one for parties, more of a one on one kinda guy and stay at home.

('Scuse me while I elbow Carol out of the way. Sorry, Carol.)
No, ME, ME, ME! I'M the best cookie taster--pick me!!!
Good morning, everyone. 5 whole degrees here this morning. That's TOO COLD for shoveling. Maybe we'll just wait for spring. Snow does go away if you ignore it long enough...

Hope everyone is staying warm and safe..
Going on 3 am.. be back later!
Hope you got some shut-eye, Dave. And aren't you the social butterfly? Drop in guest (not to mention the cat) and Christmas cheer...pretty soon we'll be sitting here wondering "where's Dave?" because you'll be off partying with the neighbors.

I can get there faster....I live much closer. MEMEMMEMEMEME!!! Pick ME
As far as the drop in guest, people around here apparently think if your light is on, you're receiving guests.
I normally discourage people from even knocking on my door, otherwise you get the constant "Got a dollar I can borrow til I get my check?", "You don't happen to smoke, do you?", or "My phone's not working.. can I use yours?".. it's "social networking" at it's worst.
I try to help out, but it would be nice if it were daylight when the requests come in.
