OK, in winter we don't say the 'S' word so please let's try not to say the 'H" word in summer! (ok, blue can say it since she likes it so much). . .. .
I have so much to do this week I hate to think I have to deal with heat too.
I never said I liked hot, warm yes, not super hot. I'm just not going to sit and complain about it since I spent years working in a factory when it was over 100 degrees and no AC. 85 is nothing to complain about. I have AC in my house and my car for when I need it. I'm good.
I've been outside working on the yard even in the heat. Wasn't that awful, just was driving me nuts that I had trouble breathing with this stupid chest cold. Between the coughing and the constant running nose, I couldn't stand it. I'm glad most of the chest tightness is gone now. Boy, can my nose produce a lot of snot.
I haven't even looked at the weather temps for the last week. If you don't look at the numbers, it doesn't seem as bad. So I suggest not looking at a thermometer or watching the weather on the news. If you don't know how hot or cold it is, you don't think about it all day long then. Works for me. The other day I was out putting wood chips down and my friend said I was nuts for going out when it was 95 out. I said I didn't even know it was. I don't think it was quite as hot as she said, but probably more like mid to upper 80s. The yard work has to get done, so I go out for a few hours and get it done. The shower and glass of lemonade will follow soon enough.
We did get to sit out on the deck a few evenings. That was nice. We ate outside the other day by Pewaukee Lake. I was disappointed to find one of the places we wanted to go to was out of business. Love eating outside when we can. Those days don't happen very often.
My neighbor just brought over some asparagus and I'm giving her some rhubarb. I still have a ton of rhubarb. I need more neighbors that like rhubarb so I can give it away. My rhubarb plant is on steroids.
I'm making this rhubarb dessert that has raspberry jello in and gets poured over a crust. I haven't tried a rhubarb dessert yet that I didn't like. So good!
How long is it when the pennies are placed end to end? There's some math for you to figure out. Will it circle the earth or just reach from LA to New York?

Maybe that is why I don't like the heat much. I spent years in a nasty, dirty, extremely hot factory working with extra large rolls of raw fiber glass dripping in a strong oil that could remove finger nail polish. I had to roll them out on a large cutting board and cut it to size. No air circulated around me and the strands of fiberglass stuck to me everywhere with the oil. I felt like a hot catcus plant when I left every day to go home and peel my clothes off to take a long deserved bath.
When I wasn't doing that I was running 3 departments of which one we sprayed glue in. Again, no air, not even a large fan was by us. It wasn't unusal to have the sweat just drip off of us at times. We did have some really old windows that we could push open (if they wanted to open, some didn't).
Yeah, that was the good ole days.
Oh yeah, I quit after 3 3/1 years since I worked so hard I lost so much weight that I ended up at the Dr.'s. Since I had a hard time breathing when I was at work in the heat it was then that it was found that I had small fibers in my lungs and I will always it there. They just said for me to hope that new cells grew over it all. It was years ago and I am still here, so that's good at least.
But I still hate the heat. Makes me feel like I am back in the heat of that old building I guess.

I try that trick at well and it really does help. At least today I was doing ok until I went by Walgreens and looked up at the temp sign and saw it was 100 degrees! Yuck.
We have one plant that I think has enough on it for a pie maybe two. I love strawberry rhubarb pie!
When I was young, we ate it raw. The neighbors would be chasing us out of their gardens all the time.
Now I need stawberry and sugar to enjoy it only once or twice a summer.

....Now, a very great man once said
That some people rob you with a fountain pen
It didn’t take too long to find out
Just what he was talkin’ about
A lot of people don’t have much food on their table
But they got a lot of forks ’n’ knives
And they gotta cut somethin’....

Yes! I loved to eat it 'raw' when I was young too. It was sooo sour! lol We would pull it down the stalk in strings too. What we did not know back then was the leaves if eaten could make you very sick. Good think we never tried to eat that part.
I just realized it's after 9:30 and I never ate dinner yet. I am never hungry when it's hot.
Well, maybe I will check out what's here but I hate eating much this late. . . maybe a banana or a big mug of OJ sounds good.
It is after 11:00 here and I haven't eaten anything today but two apples...and I'm not even hungry. I didn't realize how late it was either until I logged in here.
I've been busy working most of the day on making a display board with part of the family trees on it from my mom's and dad's side for my family reunion. I decided to highlight two ancestors on both sides so for my dad's, I picked a Captain who was a Privateer for Queen Elizabeth (he plundered Spanish ships) and he also brought colonists to the first permanent settlement in America at Jamestown. The other one was a Revolutionary War soldier. From my mom's side, I chose a Reverend who was co-founder of Yale University and the other was a Chancellor of King Henry VII's who was "the Most Hated Man in England." He was the tax collector for the King and was beheaded when Henry VIII took the throne because he wanted to win the favor of his subjects. Quite the interesting bunch!
I was outside most of the day today.. not too humid so took advantage of the air and sun for once..
We had a nice breeze here all day so I didn't think the humidity was too bad either in spite of it being 97 degrees out. I stepped out on the deck for a bit around 9:00 this evening and thought it was nice enough to go for a walk but the hubby was already in bed sleeping and I won't walk by myself that late at night.

I don't know how accurate those temps are. Yesterday I saw 96 on one then drove down the street where it said 103. Guess which one was located next to an ice cream shop? I bet they upped it a little to increase sales. lol
Neither was exactly correct. I think the paper said the high was 94. The blacktop can give off a lot of heat.

So that's your secret to losing weight so fast. I think I'd starve by lunch time. I always start my day with toast or cereal and some fruit along with some milk. Today I had marble rye toasted. Dave, you jealous? Yes, marble rye! It looks so cool too. I think this is the first time I bought some. I've only had it in restaurants and you don't see that very often.
Anybody every try wasabi peas? I bought some the other day and those things are addicting. It's been a while since I bought some. They are good to snack on or good on a salad for a little spicy crunch.
Well happy Wednesday everyone. This week is flying by (again). What is with the days going by so quickly. Guess it's true the older you get the faster life seems to fly by.
Anyways, one more day of extreme heat (hotter than yesterday) and then tonight a cold spell comes through and we will be cool again. That's Wisconsin for you.
