Bah, computer still acting up.. monitor goes blank for a second then comes back on.. hope it's the driver and not the monitor itself. Just trying to make it to the weekend before I try to reformat. Still not letting me reinstall some apps I had before.
The bad part is, this computer came with XP pre-installed and no disks. I can restore from a partition but if the partition is corrupted, I'm screwed.
I'm glad mine came with the disks.... I got XP Professional. It came with SP1 but since I've upgraded to SP3....ran SP2 for the longest time with no issues.
SP3 seems to not like IE8 and at times will tell me Yahoo! does not exist.
Oh almost forgot to say that I love the new 'theme' look. Just last night I was thinking sadly it was time for the fall theme to leave and poof, the new look is here today.
Geeeze I didn't even notice until I read this. Sigh..... will I ever catch up?
Since Carol and I love to bug Dave and blame everything on him around here.... I bet the over night breakdown of the bubbler had to be his fault too. After all he broke his own computer so maybe he broke the bubbler too????
lol (just joking dave!)...
Sure, first Dave gets me real sick and it takes weeks to get over...I did just get my voice back over this past weekend....
And then he breaks my computer, his computer and crash's the bubbler!!
I am so against the transition.. I have cable so don't have to worry but what about all the handheld tv's, for example? Obviously a converter box would be impractical so those units will be useless? I used to have some old vintage tv's and battery operated tv's that you might use for camping.. those will be unuseable as well, I'm guessing.
As for the coupons, they should have sent them to every household without having to request them.
I have neighbors that I'd bet $100 still have no idea about it or how or where to get a converter or coupon.

I went to the freebee forum and didn't see one there and can't belive I'm not finding a link doing a serach.....
Sigh. Darn computer just not acting 100% yet! Maybe it's the snow coming down interfearing with my DSL?
according to channel 3000 we were expecting snow starting at 3am, not snowing here yet.
Site is acting funny for me....!
Channel 3000 once featured theBubbler.com
Sorry the site was acting up last night.

Glad to hear you like it, and that it was timely. I agree.

OK, we're all blaming everything on Dave!
Works for me, Dave...otherwise it would be my fault!

Hi everyone!
Great to catch up with you all. First time on since very early am yesterday!
Great day yesterday...early start, on the road, hit the Y about 5pm, good workout, then met a couple of friends for a beer and they both agreed to do video testimonials for the web work we've done for them.
Good sleep and early start again today, good meetings including the goals for the re-design of our company site.
Made reservations earlier today for a room in Merrill, Wisconsin on Sunday. Will meet Kelly68 and pick up my auction items, then do some writing with a client from Merrill Sunday evening and Monday morning, then see clients in Wausau and Stevens Point on the way back Monday afternoon. Hope the weather is better than last March when I drove that route in a wicked winter storm.
I give up on trying to get things to reinstall .. keep getting errors so I guess I'll have to reformat and start from scratch again. Hopefully I won't run into problems.
I wouldn't even know where to start with reformatting. I've never had to do anything like that. Never had anything serious with my computer. I think I would cry if that happened. No, there wouldn't be crying, but there would be lots of yelling and swearing. There's no crying in computer problems. And there's no crying in baseball, either, lol.
Yeah, can definitely be frustrating.. i've been around computers since at least the 1970's and still get stumped by hardware and software issues though each time you have a problem you tend to learn by it. Open architecture is to blame for alot of it IMO.. you get alot of conflicts that you wouldn't get if everything followed the same standards (like a Mac).
This RAM won't work with that, this video card won't work with this, this device or program steals clock cycles from that one, etc.
Everytime I install something and have to reboot, I cross my fingers that the thing will actually reboot and not go into a coma.
I hate turning Automatic Updates on because they often require a reboot and I've had conflicts several times. In fact, hearing my computer reboot after an update woke me up and I came out to check on it. I don't know what it updated or why.. seems to me Windows apparently needs constant patches and updates of one sort or another.
I tried to do a second non-destructive restore and that hasn't helped either so will have to wipe the drive and start over.
My neighbor came over last night to pay me some money he owed me.
Now, this guy is the same age I am and literaly looks 90. He suffers from schizophrenia and has to take 18 pills a day just to stay somewhat lucid.
His 78 year old mother comes over every day to clean, do his clothes, and bring him his medications.. when she passes, I have no idea how he'll make do. He literally cannot sit up straight. He sits with his head inches above his knees. He has another neighbor that spends alot of time with him and she waits on him hand or foot.
Anyway, he's clearly not been 100% the last few days in particular and has ranged from incoherent to paranoid to argumentative.
I try to be patient and understanding but I'm reaching my limit. Last year I blew my top at the guy and didn't talk to him all winter. I'm getting to that point again.
Anyway, gonna grab some hot tea and do some more posting..
Meanwhile, everyonem have a good one!

We did not get the snow they were predicting which was great but all the wet mush that we did get turned to ice over the night since it is really cold out this morning. Hardly could get my door open on the van, it was all frozen over. Hate when that happens.
I was so grateful my oldest daughter had time to take all the kids to school so I could catch some extra time this morning before I have to do some errands. Gives me time to throw some extra salt out on the driveway with hopes that it may give some traction. Oh I don't' like the cold.
Anyways, think I will scramble some eggs. Sounds good. And OJ. Can't start my day without my orange juice!
Dave, sounds like you've got crossed wires everywhere lately--your computer and your neighbor. It is really difficult to deal with people with a brain disease; they cannot compute things the way other people do. When you think about it, everyone computes things differently. Two people can see the same thing and give it entirely different meanings. Bless you for being patient and kind and also for knowing your limits. Will he back off for a while if you tell him to?
Hope you can at least get the computer straightened out this weekend. Without too many bad words.
I remember the first time I used bad words in front of my husband. We were tiling a shower stall and I had just finished grouting along the bottom. I stood up and hit my head on the pipes sticking out of the wall. It was so unexpected and painful, that I let loose a string of expletives. My husband's eyes got big and his jaw dropped. What can I say? We were newlyweds--he had no idea I even knew some of those words, much less those very descriptive combinations. Ha!
Good Morning all... i don't see the purdy background you are all talking about, mine never changes, maybe because i have it set to one look, but will check it out, sounds cool.
I wish this day was over & it hasn't even really began (work day) how sad is that? going to be one heck of a long day!

I have known tamed many many MANY years, and I do not believe I have ever heard her swear!!! I can also say......I wish I would have been there for that! (now, I have read a few emails that had "naughties" in them!
Good morning everyone.
Today it is mild, not cold, not warm......the sky is a bit dark to the North, looks like rain.
No snow.
But it's really WINDY!!
I hope everyone is out from under the snow......I do not miss shoveling.......

Trust me.. I'm really not a people person so it's really hard for me to be patient and I have a tendency to be very blunt if I don't watch myself.
I know he can't help himself but between the meds and his schizophrenia, this guy can be downright creepy and never has a good word to say about anybody.
The guy weighs about 30 pounds, skinny as a rail, but he's always talking about how if he wasn't taking his meds, he could kill everybody. So... not someone to spend the evening with. I don't like to be around negative people. I'm negative enough on my own.
I just had hot tea and toast with sugar and cinnamon. Yum!
