Well drank my OJ and had some breakfast and out the door we went to drop the kids off at school. Took a nice ride down the lake street to the Prairie to check the colors out for photos, think about another week at the most it should be perfect.
Working on the Rummage Sale most of the day today that we still plan on having soon, hopefully this weekend if nothing else gets in the way (again).
Had oatmeal for breakfast.. actually, it's almost the only thing I have to eat here at the moment.. been sharing groceries with a neighbor who's homebound so all my groceries went that-away. Been cooking for her as well.
Misty used to be her home health aide (that's how Misty and I met) and will soon be working for her again so guess I'll be seeing more of her in a couple weeks.

Sons wedding was Saturday. Great weather. Dropped and broke the camera. Broke my glasses, came home from wedding and broke my mouse!
Using daughters lap top right now. What a difference I see in the Bubbler webiste using IE vs my good ole firefox.....not to mention what a difference it is using a lap top vs my good ole computer with "normal" mouse and keyboard I'm used of.
Have not thought about breakfast yet. HHHMMM what to have...it's almost 1:30
Anyone else have a kitten/cat that LOVES to climb shower curtains?
Oh that brings back memories from years back when I was first married (the first time). We had two female cats that both got out and yeah, they both got pregnant the same time. So we had house full of kittens! I remember one time I came home from work and I had all the kittens on different levels hanging all over my long drapes in the living room! They almost looked like decorations. lol They all turned and looked at me pretty much the same time as if to say...hey aren't we cute! Oh for a camera.
Anyways, after that we would put them all in the basement while we were gone for the day to save the drapes and everything else.
Well here I am again, slept almost all of yesterday so am here early today. Glad to see my friend got here....and VOTK in person..
Today have a Drs appt, they convinced me I needed my leg veins done so this is the 6 month checkup...haven't heard a weather forecast yet but is 57 here so looks like it could be another great day! Would like to save this up for Feb and March!
Kitty Kitty Kitty..... this kitty was a rescue off of Hwy 26. My son dove out the car and darted across traffic to scoop up this kitty before a semi hit it.
Strange kitty indeed. It was aprox 6 weeks old.....and was eating it's own tail.
The first surgery removed the tail just past the self mutalated area.
Kitty continued to eat the tail once e-collar was off. Back to the vet.
Now all of the tail had to be removed. E-collar back on, meds, the whole works again.
Stitches come out and kitty goes right back to eating stump of tail.
In frustration a swift smack happened with a loud NO and kitty never ate it's tail (or other body part) again.
*Wondering if I could have saved $500.00 the second time around with a smack.?????
Now kitty has taken to shower curtain shredding, bathtub play and lets hide the bars of soap and play with them when no one sees........

How sad that this poor young cat would have such self mutilation issues. Wow, makes you wonder what it has gone through in such a short time of life so far?
I actually never heard of any animal doing this before. What does the Dr suggest as a reason that a kitten would try eating it's tail? This must hurt the poor thing. Maybe because it did cause pain the cat was so confused he was just trying to get rid of the tail. Didn't realize the he was actually causing the pain by biting it?
Well just wondering if the cat was traumatized while trying to fend for himself after being left and is totally stressed to a point that it has obsessive compulsive issues now? That would answer why the kitty has gone from going after his own tail (which is no longer there to distract kitty) to now shredding up other things such as your shower curtain? He must get over simulated and stressed and just needs to let go in the way of attack mode on things.
I would think if you asked the vet for meds to calm the cat down for awhile until he learns more trust issues, and that his environment is a safe haven and he/she grows more in maturity and gets out of the kitten age? Or I read that Petland also has a Feliway spray that releases feline pheromones into the room that calms a cat.
Well was taken up in interest on Carol's post I almost didn't say
Good Morning to everyone here!
Woke up to rain and really overcast this morning but maybe I see it clearing up a bit. Hopefully the sun will come out since we have so much to do on the rummage sale today if we want to try for this weekend. The kids have the day off so I have helpers.
Working with this "new"computer (and Vista) is so frustrating.. very slow and having frequent lockups and (phantom) disconnects. I say "phantom" because it will popup a dialog to connect to the internet while I am already connected!
I suspect the lockups are due to the low RAM situation.. Oh well, any computer is better than none for the time being!
My brother emailed yesterday saying he'd send me another computer so we'll see what happens..
Plan to make a meatloaf for dinner and watch Hell's Kitchen tonight with my neighbor..
Well just wondering if the cat was traumatized
Can't hurt I would think.
He has nerve damage. His tail felt to him how we feel when our hand/foot goes numb. Pins and needle feeling.
Now he's just running around being a crazy kitten. I do think the soap might be acting like catnip to him. I only use homemade soaps that I pick up from Rendezvous, Pow Wow's, even craft fairs....
Not sure what's for dinner yet, but the TV will entertain me with Survivor, then Hells Kitchen & then General Hospital
Meatloaf, you just gave me an idea what to make with that squash I bought a while back. I make a squash dish with cheese and a cracker topping. Couldn't figure out what to make with it. Meatloaf! Now I need to decide which meatloaf recipe to use. I have a dozen different recipes.
Here's my squash recipe. It's so much better than the boring ways most people serve squash, which is why a lot of people grow up hating squash. Add healthy things like cheese and crackers and improve the flavor. Ok, maybe not healthy additions, but tastier.
Not a big squash fan but may have to try that.. thanks!

Like I said, most people only have tried it bland and boring with maybe a little butter thrown on. So they think that's the only way to eat it. Squash works well in soups and stews.
This recipe I posted isn't like other squash you have tried. It actually has FLAVOR. When I tried it I was convinced a lot more people would actually like squash if they ate it like this. People need to stop thinking of veggies as something to just throw butter and salt on. Boring! Lots of spices and seasoning blends to jazz those veggies up with. Try making a delicious sauce to pour over veggies. I know I'm a picky veggie eater myself, but this is why I try to find many ways to make the ones I do like. Makes a world of difference. Too bad my mom, who is a good cook, didn't whip out the spices for the veggies. And forget crap in a can veggies. Terrible flavor (other than my green beans).
I have another recipe that I make with squash and carrots that has cream of chicken soup and stuffing mixed in it. That one is really good too. I think I could trick a few squash haters into eating this. I got lots of compliments on this recipe when I brought it to a family get together. They rarely give compliments or even are brave enough to try anything different that I bring. I just get tired of the same old, same old.
Another thing for you squash haters might not know, a pumpkin is a squash. If you tasted it plain, cooked you would find it tastes like squash. You can use squash in any pumpkin recipe. Yes, really.
