Heard we are looking at some heavy deep snow around here later today, tonight and tomorrow a.m. Not looking forward to trying to figure out how to get out of this driveway. Cold weather kills the TMJ and so does shoveling. But I guess my wishing the snow will miss us won't happen this time, looks like we are smack in the path of it.
The auction went well last night. I'm so happy for you Kelly, you deserved this successful auction. You are so dedicated to your work you do for our finned friends that I'm very glad we could all help you out.

Can you believe it? I still can't. They are okay; very traumatized. Of course, there's more to the story...the robbers were "pros"--the first thing they asked for was their cell phones. They were sound asleep and woke to footsteps running up the stairs; the robbers burst in their bedroom, kicked the husband in the ribs, hit him in the face with the butt of the gun, then threw the covers back, lifted each side of the mattress looking for a phone. When they were satisfied that they didn't have a phone, one robber held a gun on them, while the other ransacked the house. Good grief...still can't believe it.
Some of the teachers at the competition raised money for them...the robbers took all their cash and any electronic devices--a couple game systems and cameras, plus jewelry and DVDs.
Then, while we were visiting with them after the competition, I got a phone call letting me know that my oldest son was in the ER with severe chest pain. He is fine now--they really didn't come to any conclusion about what it was.
I do have some good news (thank goodness). On Friday, we adopted a sweet 2-year-old cat from the humane society. She's black, tiny, and serene. The shelter named her Jackie, but we're thinking of Zoe (means "life"), Pixel (because she's small), Java or Mocha (because she's black). I'm taking votes...what's your favorite?
WoW tamed what a day! Sorry to hear of the teachers, i imagine that was a shock to their system!
Glad your son is better, does he have asthma? Will they be running more tests to find out what happened? My daughter collapsed at age 14 during a softball game, with chest pain & after extensive test they found she had asthma.
What an awful story to read. I can't imagine waking up to something like that. My first thought would be if my kids were safe. Did the teachers have anyone else in the house at the time?
Good to read that your son is ok now. Hopefully he won't have that happen again but I to wonder if he may have asthma. Was he coughing, or short of breath to?
Your cat sounds so cute. I like both Mocha and Pixel. I think I will vote for Pixel for two reasons. One, I like 'different' names, and I could hear you calling, here Pixel, here Kitty. lol
Second reason, even though I really like the name Mocha, the word Mocha brings to my mind more of a dark chocolate color not black. Just my thought on it.

Hope your colleagues and son will be 100% soon, Tamed.
Congratualations on your new family member.
Snow is coming down big now. Found a good quote about the weather.
Sunshine is delicious, rain is refreshing, wind braces us up, snow is exhilarating; there is really no such thing as bad weather, only different kinds of good weather. ~ John Ruskin
I wish you could smell how good this smells.. I put a pork tenderloin roast in the oven for dinner, topped with ham strips and apricot preserves.. what are YOU having?
We are eating over at my daughter's tonight. She is a great cook and always has something wonderful to eat. I think she is making a big roast for dinner tonight. A break from the Turkey I guess. Not sure how much I can eat but it's always good to sit and smell it all.

Wow, Tam, that's too much excitement in your area. I'm glad the teachers were ok. That would scare the crap out of me.
For dinner tonight, which was more like a late lunch, we stopped at Bravo Italian restaurant by Brookfield Square. Their bread dipping oil is the best. Next time I need to save room for their chocolate chip bread pudding with caramel sauce. That sounds so good.
Got in some Christmas shopping today. Have my brother almost done. I only have to shop for one person on my family's side this year since we finally decided to draw names. I love it!
Has anyone else ever bought something just because they liked that packaging? I got some candy in a cool looking twisted box. Yeah, I'm a sucker for cool packaging. I call it being seduced by packaging. Here's what the boxes look like: Sweet's Taffy boxes
I want to check into recipes for some. Bravo does sell their oil in bottles, but it was a bit pricey. I thought I could make one myself for less. That would make for a good Christmas gift. A bottle of dipping oil and some breads.
Thanks for the well-wishes to our teachers and our son--scary situations, but everyone is doing okay.
Interesting thought on the asthma; he has never had breathing problems and, except for when the pain was very intense, my son was able to breathe all right during the "attack" of whatever it was. It's certainly worth checking out, especially if it happens again.
Hmmm....Pixel or Mocha....I like all the names--they each suit her in one way or another. Think I'll wait a few more days and see what name comes to me when I'm hanging out with her.
Dave, dinner smells fabulous--I'll be right over.
BB, I LOVE packaging; those twisted boxes are brilliant. I have a small collecton of Really Bad Packaging, because it makes me laugh. Two stellar examples are Uncle Sam's Cereal--A Fine Laxative and Uncle Fred's Fine Sex Olives. I think you should not have a product name with Uncle in it. There's something wrong with that. I found the olives in a grocery store; the words FINE SEX are in big orange type. There was a whole shelf with those words just jumping out at you. What a marketing strategy; you couldn't miss it. Rather unexpected in a grocery store, though. Someone must have objected, because they were removed within a couple days and I haven't seen them since.
Dinner was awesome.. cooking is just a way of keeping busy for me (and has the added benefit of tasting great).
Been looking for molds to make sugar waffles. The only ones I seem to run across are alot smaller than I'm used to and are more for making tart shells.
With only 25 days til Christmas, gonna start decorating this week a bit. I even have a small lit tree for the window seat next to the bird cage. Just not sure if I'm going to get one or two more trees.. today I'm not feeling too ambitious but that could change!
Time to start thinking about New Year's resolutions too!
Just back from shoveling. Much worse than last night. 30" drifts along one side of the driveway despite snow fence.
Sounds like you actually got more than we did Keith. They were calling for us to get the most in the state but the temps actually stayed up for awhile last evening so we got rain for awhile instead. But we got snow during the night. It's still trying to snow some out there now but not much. Hope that is all for awhile now.
