Does anyone else make freezer jam? This weekend, I plan to make some strawberry freezer jam.
Strawberry freezer jam is soo good. Use to pick strawberries and freeze jam every year. Haven't done this in quite some time but I think my daughter plans on it this summer.

Good afternoon! I'm just taking a quick break from working in the garden. It feels much hotter out there than I thought it would be today! I have about half of the landscaping material tacked down. It would probably go quicker if I had someone to help but everyone is working today so I'm on my own. I guess I better grab a cold drink and get back out there so I will still have time to get a nap later.

You lead a rough life, Cindy.
I envy your day. I HATE being in an office all day during such nice weather - especially an office where the windows do not open. It had better be nice weather this weekend...'cause, you know, God responds to threats like that.

I never had the luxury of having an office with any windows. I think the only place I worked at that had windows was American Family, but a boring view of the street corner doesn't really count.
Cindy, just reading about how much work a garden is makes me glad I don't have one. Then all the work of canning. No thanks, I'll go visit a farmer's market if I need fresh. My flowerbeds provide me with enough work, but really once everything is planted, it's really not that much to do.
Just got back from the car show at Wayne's Drive-in. We drove there with the top down on the car because it was so nice out. Once we got to Cedarburg the temperature dropped. I think they must be at a higher altitude because last week was colder too. The smell of their burgers were driving me crazy. I came very close to buying one, but we already ate supper before we went. We got some ice cream instead. I can't say that was anything special since we get it at home all the time for free.
PK, I forgot to tell you I was in your area last week. We ate at Shirl's. Good food. I had the meatball sub and then we split an Elvis sundae. They sure have a lot of choices for such a small place. I'd like to go back. After we ate we drove around the lake. There were all kinds of people surf sailing or whatever the name is for that. Some of them would get airborne. It was fun to watch.

I am finding out that it is a lot more work than I had thought it would be! Maybe 10 years ago I wouldn't have noticed the aches and pains as much as I do now. I don't plan on canning anything from the garden...I'm going to take it to my neighbor and let her can it for me.

I called two places today about strawberries and both times I got the message that the number was no longer in service! I know at least one of them still sells berries because they have a road side stand in their yard every year, so I guess I'll just have to take a drive over there tomorrow to see what they have.

That sounds like fun Blue! My parents had a yellow Thunderbird convertible when I was in high school and they let us drive it some times. Nothing beats cruising around the country side in a convertible on a hot day with your top down!

We don't seem to get over to Shirls to often but when we do I always like to get the cheese grubs. Kinda like a cheesy sloppy joe in a hot dog bun. It's actually really good.
Our beaches are really fun and so many nice places to stop at. Not sure where you ended up but I'm guessing closer to the north end by the band shelter? There is usually alot of people around there in the water and on the beach.
I usually like to head over by the Marina part where it's really nice to walk in the early morning and I usually end up coming back around over by the beautiful flower garden they have there.
Try to stop sometime on a Saturday and visit the large outdoor farmer market by the Kenosha Museum. Lots of things there as well as live music on some days.
Always something going on down by the beach. I'll try to let you know when there is a concert or something fun going on.

My daughter and I did alot of work with the flowers this afternoon and I am tired tonight!
I am tired tonight too, but it looks like I will be up for awhile yet. There is a tornado watch out for our area until 1:00 a.m. I'm always the one who gets to stay up to keep an eye on the weather. Now I'm really wishing I would've gotten that nap earlier today!
I had mine all planted in May already. I try to get that out of the way as soon as it's safe to plant.
I usually want to get it all done in May also but so many things have been going on that we got really behind. My daughter did plant all of the tomato containers early on and a small herb garden so did get that done on time at least. I figure I will get it all done by the time it's almost fall the rate I'm going. lol

We get our strawberries out at Thomson's Strawberry Farm. It's on hwy 50 west of Kenosha.

I can't tell you exactly where we were, but I think I saw the marina and lots of rich people's houses. We did go by the red lighthouse. It was raining out that day so the only nuts out there were the surfers. Probably doesn't matter when you get wet anyway in the water.

That would be about a two and a half hour drive for me Patti.
When we lived in Dousman we used to pick berries at some place just outside of Oconomoc. I can't remember the name but they had the best strawberries we've ever had!

The beautiful houses are part of the historic area. At one point you must have gone by Durkee Mansion. Awesome place to check out if you ever have time for a tour. If you drive in the entrance you are able to drive around the back to a fishing pier and nice grassy area next to the lake that is open to the public but not to many think to use it.
If you were on the circle drive looking over at the red lighthouse, there is a drive next to the large boat house building that actually takes you down closer to the south side of the lighthouse of which you can park and take a nice walk.
