No, he never left home. I know my FIL wanted him out years ago, but they're too nice to kick out their own adult kid. There was a number of years he didn't work. All he did was help my FIL sometimes with his general contractor business, but never had a real job. Then he had a factory job, but quit that because he wasn't making enough money he said. It took him 3 years to find a job after that. What an idiot, you don't just quit a job without one lined up like that. His next job was newspaper delivery and raising a few chicken to sell. Then he finally got a real job a couple of years ago driving a delivery truck. He's about 52 years old. He's never had a date in his life and just looking at him, who would want him. Yuck! He always reminded me of creepy Uncle Charlie from My Three Sons, only with less personality.
My oldest sister has their 28 year old son living with them still. He has never worked nor has he ever had a date. He doesn't even come to any of the family gatherings, not even Christmas or the family reunion. He stays at home all the time and rarely leaves his room where he sits and plays video games all day. I have seen him a few times when I've gone to their house, but it was for just a minute or two when he came out of his room to get something to eat or drink. He doesn't drive either and can hardly read because he is dyslexic and they let him quit school when he was old enough. He doesn't act "normal" at all, almost like he is afraid to be around people and he let his hair grow down to the middle of his back too. Weird!
I think it is really sad when parents "enable" their kids that way! They are not doing them any justice and are actually doing more harm in the long run. What is going to happen when the parents die? The kid won't know how to support himself let alone know how to take care of anything else! Dumb!
She is very pretty Cindy! My granddaughter just turned 5 the other day. Little girls at that age are all so cute aren't they?
Thanks Patti! Yes they are cute and fun at that age. Do you play Barbies with your granddaughter? My granddaughter loves it when we play Barbies because I make them dance and sing, even though I'm not good at it, she still thinks it's funny. On Easter, I was singing "Juliet" by Taylor Swift and I kept forgetting the words so I was making them up, but she knows every line to that song so she kept correcting me. LOL
I have never been much of a facial hair lover.....but.......I think you look great with a beard! Most guys, IMHO, look "scraggly" to me w/beards. Yours looks well-trimmed and quite, if I may say so.....sexy!
Good morning peoples.
Not much new down south, nice weather and it's offically "snake season". Took my pups for their evening walk at sunset last night and saw a Copperhead in the road. He raised his head and opened his mouth at us......quickly retreated and went the other way, only to come across a Water Moccasin blocking our way in the other direction! GEEZ! So our "walk" ended up being a trip around the house a couple times til they did their "business". This morning the Copperhead was still in the road but someone had run over him. That's fine by me. They can be pretty "testy". Don't want him in my yard!
Anyone want Pancakes for breakfast? I also have about 500 Kumquats in my kitchen to munch on.....for REAL. My friends Kumquat tree has produced a bumper crop, despite the freeze in March. I guess I'll be doing some canning?
Have a great weekend!!!! I am hoping to get my chores done, my taxes DONE and maybe go Kayaking.
Thanks for breakfast Toes! I love pancakes! I've never had Kumquats. I'm assuming they are a fruit since they grow on trees?
Have fun kayaking today. It's still a bit chilly here...only in the 40's but it is supposed to be up in the 70's by the weekend. I need to get out there and pick the Easter eggs off the tree soon and put them away before my neighbors start teasing me about it. They will ask me if I'm leaving them up until next Easter! They left me another painted bowling ball on my deck yesterday. The last one was red but this one is a light purple. Now I have to figure out where to put that one in the yard.

He sounds like he could be depressed or have some other problem that needs checking into. They should get him to a doctor to see if there's anything wrong. It sounds like more that just a self confidence problem. He could be bi-polar or it could be some other chemical imbalance.
Since everyone is voting on Dave's beard. I'm going to say shave. LOL, yeah, I have to be different than everyone. I usually don't like a lot of facial hair unless it's a goatee or mustache.
You'd definitately want to shave that beard off if you were job hunting. Employers like a clean look.
I like the full beard and have had one off (mostly on) and on for years.. either that or a mustache. Misty hated me without facial hair, now she just hates me, period, lol!
I do look a minute younger without it tho..

I love kumquats (someone was drinking when they thought of that name!) but haven't had them in ages.. they always remind me of apricots.
Stopped at a local buffet this afternoon.. I have always wanted to like this place but the 3 or 4 times I've gone, they have had a terrible selection and the food hasn't been very good the last couple times. I was actually sorry I stopped and wasted $8 but it was lunchtime and I was on that side of town.

Do you really want to know, lol? Have been trying to keep busy to take my mind off things but not workinjg too well. Still a lot of "he said, she said" on the Misty front. (And, just my luck, my therapist has been on pregnancy leave since all this started and won't be back til May)
But I am getting my finances turned back around tho which is a plus. I got oked for rental assistance and paid both April and May rent today, plus my cable / internet.
Allergies, etc suck this time of year too..
Thanks for asking, by the way!

I tried kumquats once and they just reminded me of oranges that were too much work to peel for a half of bite of fruit. Then again, I don't like the work of peeling regular oranges either.
Yes, it is my granddaughter in my avatar. Thanks! She was almost 3 when it was taken. She will be five next month already. They grow up way too fast these days!
I assume they only grow up fast when you are the grandma, cuz i felt like i was raising babies for 150 yrs! I look forward to having a grand baby, but not till my kids are married... My daughter may be ready, but I am not ready yet

Oh wow! No way in hell would my 52 year old live with me... No way would i have an adult living in my home & not supporting themselves... even my kids CHOSE to start working as soon as they were old enough (14 & 15), for their own extra money, buy their first car etc... Your in laws must have some moola to allow that.
I have a brother who is a lazy POS & if it weren't for the very dumb and naive women who have supported him the past many yrs, he'd still live with my mom & mooch off her... Then again, he was made to work when he lived at home as an adult, so i'm sure getting a dumb chic was his only way out of that. From the way you describe your BIL, i suppose even a naive woman wouldn't take him in lol soo sad

Is he disabled or medically have something wrong with him? Is he slow or is it just that his parents felt safer having a child who would forever remain safely tucked away from harm or whatever?
If it's not a disability I don't understand why anyone would want their child to suffer so much later in life when they are gone... Chances are he will out live his parents & have a horribly tough life later, as you said.

No, my in-laws don't have money. They live on a farm in an old house. My husband certainly didn't get much growing up. Not being in a big family like that.
I just think my BIL is afraid and even at his age he is so shy yet. He's a little on the weird side, but I bet you never guessed that. He's also a slob. He doesn't comb his hair and wears grubby jeans. He needs to take a look in the mirror once. Even my husband thinks his brother is a slob and says that he doesn't want to admit that is his brother. I don't think any woman would want him no matter what he looks like. Not very ambitious and not very interesting to talk to.
Actually I'm beginning to think most of my husband's siblings need a comb. Both of my SILs look like they just rolled out of bed and to think my one SIL went to beautician school and her hair looks like crap. It's like she doesn't care anymore. She never did use her education for cutting hair. She sure won't be using it now with the way she looks. I'm just glad that I don't have to be seen in public with the slobby ones. Even my husband commented on how they show up at family gatherings looking like they just got out of bed.
Oh, cool, new bird sighting in our back yard today. I thought it was a robin, but my husband said it looked different so we got out the binoculars. A robin is more dark grey than black. This bird had black on its back. The rust color on the chest had white in the center. I thought maybe it was a weird robin crossbreed. I did a search on google and came up with Towhee. I have heard the name in bird books, but never saw one here.
I am not listed (yay) But my bestfriend is listed, shows her myspace & facebook links, also shows her photos from an online album & her income listed is within a couple thousand... scary!!

Oh it's so fun when you site a new type of bird. I do think I have seen this one before though.
One thing I love doing is bird watching. We have a bird viewing area in a prairie not far from here that I go to quite often to take pictures and view the birds. I usually hear all kinds there more than actually see them but it's always fun to watch for ones I don't know.
Upstairs neighbor apparently had a stroke earlier and was taken to the hospital by ambulance.. I wasn't there at the time but they say he didn't recognize anyone. Haven't heard anything beyond that..

Interesting but everyone I checked it has inaccorate information. The worse was on my age, it listed me older that I am. lol
It also showed where some people I knew had no kids left at home but it still listed one out of their 2 lived with them still and that one was the first to move out years ago. One friend of mine that has lived in the same place for over 30 plus years it listed as living in the house for only 15... etc.
But for the most part addresses and names were pretty right on, even one that I checked that just moved not long ago and it had the right address.
Just goes to show if you want to find out something about someone and have the right tools you can find just about anything on the net.

There is absolutely nothing physically wrong him. He doesn't have any disability or medical problem...he is just lazy. His mom said he gets anxiety attacks when he's around people, yet he goes shopping with her to Wal Mart and the grocery store, so I think that is a made up excuse so they can justify his actions. I think the real story is that she doesn't want him to leave home because she thinks her husband is going to leave her someday (he has fooled around in the past) and then she will be all by herself. This way, if the son is there, she wouldn't be alone if her husband leaves. If the dad had his way though, he would have kicked him out on his own long ago. My sister is not forcing the issue and lets him do what ever he wants to. It is very unfortunate.

He refuses to go to any doctor...and his parents won't force him to go.
Hmmm...the chemical imbalance could have come from the fact that both his parents smoked pot back in the '70s and '80s, even when she was pg with him!
My BIL has threatened several times to marry him off to an Amish girl. They are always looking for new "blood" so they aren't constantly marrying into the same families. I remember seeing an add a few years back where the Amish were advertising for men to marry their daughters for that reason.
I assume they only grow up fast when you are the grandma, cuz i felt like i was raising babies for 150 yrs! I look forward to having a grand baby, but not till my kids are married... My daughter may be ready, but I am not ready yet
She's beautiful Cindy.
Thanks Latina!
I felt like my kids grew up way too fast. I thoroughly enjoyed watching them grow but I would go back in an instant and relive it all over again if I could. For the most part they were pretty good and easy to raise. The older one had his moments of rebellion during his later teenage years, but the younger one was so easy going and totally opposite of his brother...and he still is. I really miss having them around all the time.

The only one in my family that I found was my oldest son and it just showed his current address. It says I can get more information, but I would have to join and pay a fee to get it.
