Unless it's a sports bar I'm eating at, i don't get the whole tv @ restaurants thing
I totally agree. If you are out with a friend, someone special, family etc. and you have someone sitting watching the t.v. that is above your head that is so incredibly rude. You want to watch t.v, stay home and don't go out to eat with me.
I remember one time we went to this one place for all you can eat prime rib night. Each table had it's own little t.v. I thought how interesting for those that want to watch a football game or something. But for a Saturday night out we kept it off.
I'm thinking now that you mentioned sports bar that maybe the place was a sport theme. Don't really remember since the prime rib wasn't good. They tried to kill the taste with garlic, I don't like the taste of garlic so we never went back.
I slept in this morning until almost 11:00. I hate when I do that because I feel tired all day then! Hubby had to work this afternoon so I spent the rest of the day in the recliner watching tv and dozing with the cat on my lap. I'm still tired and I just might have to go to bed early tonight now.
Anyone going to watch the Oscars tonight? I planned to but my hubby wants to watch a movie so we probably do that. He likes comedies and he hasn't seen "The Proposal" yet so we may watch that one. It's quite funny.
Wow, 11:00. Not sure if I ever slept in that late before. If I sleep past 8:30 I feel really upset. I hate when I sleep even that late but sometimes I 'allow' myself.
I just got home and not really in the mood to watch T.V. Oscars are OK sometimes but most of the time I find it kinda boring. It's easier just to catch the results later on the Internet.
Those awards shows are usually boring for the most part and you always have the categories you don't care about that much while waiting for the ones you care about. I don't even know half the movies that are up for Oscars. I don't pay attention much until the movies are out on DVD and I need to rent something.
I did look at the photos of the stars in their dresses. Lots of nice gowns and blue seems to be a popular color choice this year.

I remember back in the day (way back), when they had little tv's at each table, at truck stops. My parents would usually stop at truck stops to eat when we traveled (which was all the time), so the tv would entertain me & they wouldn't have to.
There is a truck stop, 5 miles from where i live, that still has the little tv's at each table & instead of inserting coins they each have a credit card reader... All the truckers that I know have laptops & tv's in their trucks though, so i imagine the little tv's are less common.
No, I don't think it does.. it doesn't really matter to me as I don't really use either Facebook or MySpace for much anyway.

I was in bed at midnight last night, but woke at 1:15 to the sound of what seemed like a faucet running full force above me. I went into the bathroom that is attached to my bedroom & it got louder. I wondered if one of my kids had come home, since they were both in town last night, but staying with friends.
I checked & found no one else was here. I then checked my hallway bathroom & OMG! Water was up to my ankles across the entire bathroom & pouring like a waterfall from my ceiling fan & light fixture! My instant reaction was to run up to the neighbors apartment. He was entertaining a lady friend & it seemed i interrupted something that was taking place in his living room lol
He had no clue that his toilet was non-stop running over, for who knows how long (considering it was that bad already). By the time i got back downstairs (2 minutes), the ceiling was soaked & also leaking. It was a huge mess to clean up! I ran into my room to grab some old blankets, that i had bagged up for goodwill & found the leak had already spread to my bedroom & was dripping onto my dresser & stereo.
The bathroom ceiling is ruined, it's already smelling moldy & gross. Thankfully I am moving out next weekend.
It didn't completely stop leaking until 3ish & I was up until 4am cleaning that mess. My landlord was not very happy to get that call from me.

I have a few friends & my kids on fb that I stay in touch with, but not very often through the site itself.
I seldom use myspace either, but some of these games only allow access through fb or ms & you have to add people to your friends lists from those sites, in order to earn more money, in the games. That's the only reason i created a page for the games. I don't like adding strangers to my fb or ms just to play games.
What a horrible mess that must have been. Thank goodness you are out of there soon. That is going to take a lot of work to get that place back into shape. Sounds like they will have to pull down ceilings and new drywall etc..hate to hear what the landlord says to your neighbor.
Little T.V.'s in the truck stops certainly makes sense and I'm sure for those that may not have laptops with them, or just want to watch the t.v. that is a good idea.

Birds are chirping like crazy!
Latina! OMG! What a mess, I know how you feel.....we still have un-fixed leaks in our NEW house, so when it rains, it pours. I lived in an apt. once (2nd floor) and was awakened at 3am by the neighbor downstairs, very angry, yelling and screaming at me, he pushed me aside and ran into my bathroom and NOTHING was wrong. ??? Well, actually the pipe burst BEHIND the wall and was flooding his bath and bedroom.
(this was in Appleton, WI in '85) He started tearing at stuff in MY bathoom and I ran outside to the shutoff for the water and then I had to call the cops! He literally destroyed my bathroom! Scared the crap out of my kid at the time.
Told the landlord I should be kicked out...????.....um, helllllllllooooooo? He got kicked out for being a freak.
And the new renter and I BOTH got brand new nice bathrooms!
Nothing worse than the smell of rotting drywall. I think I am used to that smell from living in Florida!

I have some yummy pulled pork and cornbread biscuits, cajun spiced shrimp with butter sauce, hot potato salad, veggies and dip, mac & cheese.

It was so foggy this morning here when I was taking kids to school that it made it quite difficult to see very far in front of the van. I read the fog is so dense that we had a fog advisory out most of the night. It seems to be lifting some now so hopefully it will clear out soon. I really don't like driving in the fog...

The landlord was at the neighbors last night, I bet he was mad! I do hope that this gets me out of my lease early, since he hasn't rented it yet & i plan to be out a month early... Maybe i wont be held responsible for April rent.

Oh My!! I would have freaked on my neighbor if he did something like that... My neighbor came downstairs after he cleaned up his mess & apologized, said his 4 yr old daughter was to blame.
The smell is nasty, agred.
I had a pipe burst in a closet, at a house i rented several years ago. I didn't even know, until it started to smell. It leaked into the basement & ruined my clothes dryer, but since i had not been into the basement in several days, I had no idea it had even happened. Not sure what the pipe went to or whatever, since i still had water & everything worked well.
The closet had boxes of summer clothes, for my kids & I, along with all our holiday stuff & 100's of pictures of my kids, all in albums... everything was ruined & had to be thrown out
Part of the reason i prefer to rent right now is that things like that are not my problem. If finances were stable, I might feel different.

Well... I came into work this morning & gave my notice that i will be quitting. though i would have liked to give a 2 week notice, the job that i now have lined up let me know on Friday that I need to start in 1 week... My last day here at my job in Madison will be 2 days from now. I offered to work these 3 days to repay the 3 days of pto that i have already been paid out... they accepted that UgH! lol
I am moving to Freeport IL, as most of you already know.
That is why the move & driving has been so overwhelming! Moving to IL is much more work than i thought it would be. I even gave away 3 truck loads of stuff from my place, including my living room furniture. My kids came this weekend & took all their leftover stuff, from when they lived at home.
My daughter seen my new place in IL this past weekend & plans to move there also, as soon as her boyfriend gets layed off for the winter (November), giving him time on unemployment to seek employment there... i hope this move is what i need to make me happy, i truly dislike life in Madison & the expense to live here is not justified, when life here kinda sux.
I've made several moves cross-country, not just to a neighboring state, so I know whereof you speak.. it's more than a hassle, it's a tremendous job and, like you, we had to dispose of a lot of things to streamline the move. Which is why I live by the credo: Own things and don't let them own you.

Oh yes, I know all about those moves as well. From Texas to Maryland a couple times, Maryland to WI & Texas & back to WI, several times.... Those moves weren't any fun either. I feel like i have hardly moved anything, since i gave & threw so much away, but most of my trips have been to get my affairs in order, such as a place to live, job search etc...
I think this is the reason i expected the move to a neighboring state to be much easier, but it's not, It seems much worse doing so many trips, going back & forth for job search, apartment search etc... Finally the job & apartment are lined up & the move is mostly complete.
This week i have to be in IL again Thursday evening, return to Madison on Friday, to prepare for the truck that will be here for my last load on saturday morning. I will return to IL with the truck & will have to come back to Madison the same evening. I will return to IL on Sunday & start work there on Monday. No traveling all week, until the weekend, when i come back to clean the apartment & such. I have had a similar schedule of events weekly, over the past month... I sooo can not wait for the move to be complete!
