Glad to hear that you put it on a stand for safety reasons. I would love to get a bigger tv but a much larger one would never fit into my entrainment center...and I'm not going to get rid of it.
I have the same problem in the living room. I'd have to get out a saw and cut off one side of my entertainment center to fit a bigger TV. Glad to know I'm not the only American with a smaller sized TV. Not that we can afford a big one right now, but we want to get one eventually for our downstairs when it's done. Hubby has been working on it regularly. I told him if he would have worked that hard on it 10 years ago, it would have been done a long time ago.
Any suggestions on things to do inside on a cold day?
Yeah, I have ideas, but I can't type that here.
This kind of weather makes me want to bake or make a pot of soup. I'm not going to do either today. I'm just going to sit here and eat my chocolate donut and drink my toffee cappuccino. I was going to exercise when I got home. I guess Kwik Trip can be blamed for the extra calories I will have to burn off.
Hello Toes, The Salt encrusted meat can be done with meat or fish. It actually is very easy. You create a paste of thick sea salt with egg whites then cover the meat or fish with it. It will dry pretty fast. then you can put it in the oven or over the grill wrapped in foil.
Whats is great about it is that both meat or fish do NOT become salty but very juicy! Very nice to meet you!
This sounds interesting. I may need to try this sometime.

The egg whites must be the key!! THANKS!! Yes, the beef was not at ALL salty, just completely juicy and delicious! I will try it with fish too---I get alot of good fresh fish here.
As far as peppers I grow....the usual of course, jalepeno's, habs, etc., but I am hooked on pimentos (the type you describe) and thai peppers especially. I try to find heirloom seeds of strange varieties to grow here in Florida. They do very well. I love roasting all my peppers (as well as veggies), brings out the true flavor. I made some roasted fennel tonight to have with a Balsamic Glazed Skirt Steak Salad. I used some Balsamic Fig reduction I made and bottled last fall when my neighbor's Fig tree was bursting at the seams. (she hates figs-lucky ME!)
Maybe we should meet over on the recipe thread to as not bore anyone over here? ha ha ha!
When I get more time....I'll throw some recipes up over there.

What does fennel taste like? I've only had the seeds in stuff. As a kid we called the seeds mini watermelons because of the stripes.

I've never had fresh figs. I've only had the ones in Fig Newtons and I don't care for those. Reminds me of dates or raisins too much. Not that I dislike raisins alone, but don't want them in stuff..unless it's cereal.

Food talk doesn't bore us as you can tell. That's my favorite subject. I'll be getting out the cookbooks tomorrow and drooling as I make my menu.
Fresh Figs are NOTHING like dried. Sort of like comparing a big juicy GRAPE to a dried up raisin!
(I am not a dried fig fan....)
They are wonderful just sliced in halt, buttered and grilled to char a little....then served with vanilla ice cream! YUM!
I love them in salad and.....well....so many different ways!
I made a strawberry fig jam last fall too that was kick-a$$. My son came over and I gave him a jar and he just started eating spoonfuls of it. Trust me, I had buckets full of figs! HA! At the store they were selling for $5 a PINT! Yikes! My friend's Kumquat tree is loaded with fruit (she covered it during our hard freeze) and "my" Kumquats will be ready to pick come Feb. She doesn't like them....another fetish of mine, KUMQUATS! Last year I picked 40#!
Time for Kumquat preserves again.
I want to try to grow Mangos......I eat so many, may as well try to grow some!

Kind of like comparing a plum to a prune. Prunes are gross. Grapes are nothing like raisins and you know most people like grapes, but many don't like raisins.
The grilled fig sounds interesting.
Mangoes are ok, but nothing I like eating real often. There's this restaurant that has a mango dipping sauce for it's jalapeno cornbread that is just delicious.
Remember the creepster that I told you all about the other day? He hung himself in jail. That's how he died. I'm guessing he probably was facing some time in prison, because when you keep going back, it just gets longer and longer to stay there.
My husband was telling me that the guy's sister was a real piece of work, too. That is weird since the dad was so nice. He seemed like a good man. Too bad his kids turned out crappy.
Wow you people have been chatty! I think I just counted 24 posts since I last posted. lol Glad everyone had a good day.
My kids had the day off from school today so we first started with early a.m. doctor appointments for them and off to Zion, Illinois for a quick visit with my sister and fav brother-in-law. lol Hours later we left to come home. Always so fun to visit with them.
Watched a movie tonight G-Force. My son grabbed it at the Redbox since everything else he really wanted to see was out. LOL He didn't realize it was a guinea pig movie. Anyone watch this? Well, let's just say, it wasn't very funny and I kept wanting to fall asleep. .. Oh yeah, guess I did right at the ending and just woke up now. Another one of those nights that now I'm up and everyone else is gone. lol

....SEA SALT..why is everything lately being made with sea salt?? Soups, chips, crackers etc. my daughter is highly allergic to sea salt and the minute she eats something with it in she breaks out with hives.

The same here. I NEVER wear a hat either unless I'm out shoveling snow off the driveway and then only if I know I'm not going anywhere later or won't be having any company stopping by. It takes me way too long to do my hair every day just to let it get messed up by putting a hat over it!
I just read in a magazine the other day that you are suppose to wipe your hair with a dryer sheet before you wear a hat and it will keep it from getting static and all fly away when you take the hat off. I know that doesn't keep it from getting flat though. But just think you can go around smelling like bounce. lol ahhhh, no thanks.

Good cold Wisconsin morning! The sun is shining but it doesn't seem to be warming up much...still a balmy 6 degrees here in the southwest.
I think I will be spending my day curled up on the couch under a warm fuzzy blanket. I woke up feeling dizzy and sick to my stomach along with having a pounding headache. I think I must have caught something from Dave! Where is he anyway? I would like to give this back to him now.
Bad storm here yesterday.. Krystal's dad had come to pick her up earlier in the day and later called to say she'd been vomiting and could we come pick her back up. He doesn't have a car and had picked her up with her grandparents earlier.
Of course, there was near zero visibility the entire 25 mile drive and many cars off the side of the road - we nearly went off 2-3 times ourself. Took us almost two hours to drive there and back the weather was so bad, then we stopped by the Emergency at the hospital as Krystal had been vomiting on the way back. And that took a couple hours before we finally got home. They couldn't see she had anything wrong except being dehydrated.. even took chest x-rays so no idea why she was sick. Seems to be feeling better today.. I think she was just stressed as she hadn't wanted to go to her dad's anyway.
....SEA SALT..why is everything lately being made with sea salt?? Soups, chips, crackers etc. my daughter is highly allergic to sea salt and the minute she eats something with it in she breaks out with hives.
Does this mean she breaks out if she goes in the ocean? What about regular salt? From what I've read both salts have about the same minerals.
It's one of the food trends that shows up each year, like a few years ago it was roasted garlic in everything. Every year it's something else and everyone jumps on the bandwagon.
LOL at first I accidently typed everyone humps... Some typos can be funny.

Sorry to read that you are not feeling well Cindy. Hopefully it is just a 24 hour bug and you will be up and posting that you feel well soon. ... geez that Dave.... LOL

Woke up late this morning and had to hurry to get my daughter to her class and looked out and saw the snow! yuck. Thought for sure I was going to have to go out and shovel since my van was totally covered. But to my surprise when I went out armed with my coat and boats on and grabbing my shovel near my door that the snow was so soft and fluffy and pretty. And not much out there. And it was around 22 degrees so it wasn't to cold either.
That was good.

That's a good question. We were wondering that too. We went to the ocean a few years ago but she only waded in the water near the shore and didn't go in. We didn't know she was allergic at that time. Thank goodness though she didn't go in or we would not have thought about 'sea salt' if she had an allergic reaction.
She eats regular salt with no issues at all.
Strange.

No snow here today. The sun is out. I blew it your direction.
My husband got the idea to go out for breakfast today. He had to get to Oconomowoc this morning and made me go with him. We stopped in at The Depot and drooled over the cakes and bakery items. I'm not big into going out for breakfast since most places offer the same eggs, pancakes and toast. I can make that at home. It's rare that you find a place that offers different things besides the same old, same old. The Depot does have skillets and a few different omelets, plus some different flavors of pancakes. I much prefer their dinners there, or anywhere.
Sorry to read that you are not feeling well Cindy. Hopefully it is just a 24 hour bug and you will be up and posting that you feel well soon. ... geez that Dave.... LOL
Thanks for the well wishes Patti. I'm still feeling kind of queezy.
I spent the day dozing in the chair and on the couch in front of the tv. This afternoon, I watched a couple DV's of the old tv western "Alias Smith & Jones". I was in middle school when the show was on in the early '70s and I had the biggest crush on Pete Duel back then. I was so upset when he died and when they had another guy take his place on the show, it just wasn't the same any more.
Good morning! The sun is shining here so hopefully it will be a bit warmer than it's been lately.
I had a phone call from an old friend from high school last night that I hadn't heard from in years. We talked for a couple hours catching up on things. She just finished getting her teaching degree by going to school during the day and working as a janitor at the high school during the nights plus she raised three kids and took care of her disabled husband. I think that is so admirable of her to do that at our age...I sure don't think I could do that!
Just going to school and working at the same time is very, very stressful. I can't imagine adding kids and a husband to take of to all that. I was pulling out my hair when I worked a full time job and went to school. Basically, you don't have a life then. You give up all your hobbies and fun things. She must have been a very determined person to do all that.
Yesterday was quite an eventful day here! My brother-in-law was in a snowmobile accident yesterday morning and has two broken ribs and is all bruised up. He was going about 60 mph when it happened and he totaled his sled. He said he didn't see anything and just remembered flying through the air. Of course being the typical stubborn guy, he wouldn't go in the ambulance and had his friends take him home instead. But my sister, who works in the medical field, knew something was wrong because he was having trouble breathing, so she forced him to the hospital. Those darn snowmobiles can be dangerous! He is so lucky he wasn't killed! Geesh!
