You'd think they would, rather than risk having a customer simply return an item..

Sofia! Great article! I don't believe we've "met" either....hi, my name is Toes and I am a "foodie" too (to use a tired but telling term)
I wish I still had an article the Nashville Banner published years ago on my cooking, we cook alike, same passion, originality, etc. I LOVE FOOD!
When I 1st moved to NW FL. I met a Portuguese family and they had me over for dinner many times and we had SO much fun in the kitchen. Some great food was shared and I wish I could figure out how they did their "salt-encrusted" beef on the grill that would melt in your mouth!
SPEAKING OF FOOD......I have some leftover chocolate cake too! Mine is "flourless", dense and has red chiles in it, seriously. It's sweet/spicy and addicting! Cold Milk coming up!
Have a great day everyone......I woke up to freezing temps here, but the sun is out.

Cake and milk is definitely good for breakfast...not too sure about the chilies in it though. I've never had anything like that before but if you made it, I'm sure it would taste great!

It's definitely a cold one out there this morning. We had 4 above when I got up but the wind is quite chilly so it feels lots colder. I don't notice it as much as my hubby though...he's curled up on the couch under a blanket complaining about how cold it is in the house.
Good morning to all. Cold cold.. thankfully at least the sun is out! Well I brought some of the cake to work.. seems people are enjoying which makes me happy!
Cindy.. I would LOVE to be home curled up on the sofa. I keep the house pretty cool, so am also used to everyone complaining about it! hehe

It was 9 degrees this morning. Had to stop and get gas and froze! lol Of course I'm one of those Wisconsinites that doesn't believe in a hat, or gloves etc.
The sun is definitely very bright out and the sky is a beautiful blue out today. Looking outside from the warmth of my window just now you never would think it was really cold out. Oh well, I'm not complaining to much, at least it's not SNOW!

Am with you Patricia.. I rarely sue gloves or hat. DH gets upset at me. I LOVE when the sun is out with the snow on the ground and blue skies. It is bright and beautiful!
In reference to the chiles in my cake above, you really don't "taste" them....I grow my own peppers and dry and crush them for the winter, there's just a hint of them in there, little red flecks, and I also mix in some crushed coffee beans as well. If I don't tell ppl. what's in some of my food, they eat it and enjoy it!
Sig-other is my worst offender at being PICKY PICKY PICKY! He never eats veggies, except asparagus (?) and there's a LONG list of food-no no's for him. If he's not watching me cook, he'll eat what I serve and RAVE about it, ask me to make it again someday and WATCH me...."don't put THAT in I HATE that" etc. Then whenhe goes to eat that delicious dish he had before he'll complain it doesn't taste as good. grrrrrrr.....
I love making things with more unusual or unexpected ingredients.......people will say "that's yummy, but I can't quite figure out what's IN there......"
tee hee hee
SO.....did it get above 10 degrees up nort der eh?
We are supposed to have 2 days of rain starting tonight. Crap.

My brother lives in Florida during the winter months and was telling me today that it was suppose to be around 70 degrees. I mentioned I heard it had been very cold down there. He agreed, said records were broken from the cold weather. Sorry but I had to chuckle since I always hear about how we have the cold weather and he goes down there in the winter to leave all that behind. lol

Anyone wants some of the chocolate cake for breakfast? Not too sweet so will go nice with coffee!
I missed chocolate cake? I did have chocolate cereal for breakfast. When I got to work there was pink and blue cupcakes. My coworker had her baby so one of the ladies made cupcakes for us.
his time walking through the crowd. He shook hands, hugged, kissed a few, I'm sitting there thinking, eck, all the germs from everyone lol.
I always think of the germs when people shake hands. People think I'm a germ phobe because I don't like to shake hands, but really I just don't want someone's cold. I certainly don't want to touch their hand if they didn't wash after the bathroom. Icky! Good reasons to be a germ phobe.
At work I don't touch door knobs and try to use the bathroom sink that is farther to the right since the left side one is used a lot. I keep a bottle of hand sanitizer on my desk. I just don't need someone's cold and one of the ladies there was carrying around her snot rags in her hand a week ago, then touching stuff. I don't want her cold.

Is there a recipe for that one? You should post it here in the recipes.

!
I never use a hat. That messes up my hair. I have to have gloves. I can't stand holding on to a cold steering wheel. I don't cheat like you do either. I don't start the car ahead of time, unless it's below zero.
I will say that wind was biting today. This is what I call so cold that it hurts. My ears and nose fell off outside.

Likewise, i cant stand wearing gloves or a hat, so i dont, which explains my current cold.
You don't catch a cold or get sick by not wearing a hat or whatever. It's from viruses. The no hat thing was an old wives tale that my grandma used to tell us. Don't go outside without a hat, don't go outside with wet hair or no wearing an undershirt makes you catch a cold. It's a bunch of baloney from our mothers and grandmothers.
So why do people catch more colds in the winter? Because everyone is indoors together passing along germs.
wow, just wow. I found out one of my online design friends is going through a really rough time. His wife had gone in Sept. to have melanoma removed. They couldn't do further testing because she was pregnant. She started feeling sick and they went in for an MRI and found 2 brain tumors. They took her baby by c-section and he is healthy. She has stage-4 terminal cancer and the cancer has spread through her body.
I can't imagine what he is going through. To feel such joy over a new baby and to feel so helpless with his wife dying. He has a tough road ahead.
Just count your blessings today. I don't even know what to say to him. It's all so shocking and I don't even know him that well.

WOW... I cannot imagine either. That must be so very tough and devastating. I will keep them in my prayers!

What type of chillie peppers do you gorw? We also LOVE them and grow quite a few of them. There is one that is still not very well known here in the States. It is from Galicia in Spain and is called Pimientos de Padron (I grow those too). What I love about them is that you never know if you get a spicy one or not. The way to eat them is just to fry them in olive oil or grill them, then put salt on top. You do not wait for them to be red. You pick them up whne still green and not too small.
Today
Snow. Snow accumulation around 4 inches. Total snow accumulation 4 to 6 inches. Near steady temperature in the lower 20s. Northeast winds 10 to 15 mph. Chance of snow near 100 percent.
Here's the TV we just got.. had to put the stand together yesterday and me, with all thumbs! (I cheated and paid a friend to help me!)

Nice tv Dave! Glad to hear that you put it on a stand for safety reasons. I would love to get a bigger tv but a much larger one would never fit into my entrainment center...and I'm not going to get rid of it. It took me forever to find one that had the leaded glass doors and side cupboards that I wanted. Besides, it would take four people to move the three parts of it!

The same here. I NEVER wear a hat either unless I'm out shoveling snow off the driveway and then only if I know I'm not going anywhere later or won't be having any company stopping by. It takes me way too long to do my hair every day just to let it get messed up by putting a hat over it!

How awful for the family! And how sad the baby may never get to know it's mother.
Well...it's just too darn cold here to go anywhere again today. I'm all caught up on my office work and ready for the tax appointment with the accountant next week so I'm just sitting here twiddling my thumbs with nothing to do. "sigh"
I started watching the movie "Surrogates" last night but fell asleep about 20 minutes in to it. So I guess I could try watching that again but that will only take a couple hours. Any suggestions on things to do inside on a cold day? I'm not much for those on-line games other than maybe the slot machine ones but I have to be in the mood to play those. It looks like it's going to be a very boring day! Blah! I think "I need a vacation from my life!" LOL

Hello Toes, The Salt encrusted meat can be done with meat or fish. It actually is very easy. You create a paste of thick sea salt with egg whites then cover the meat or fish with it. It will dry pretty fast. then you can put it in the oven or over the grill wrapped in foil.
Whats is great about it is that both meat or fish do NOT become salty but very juicy! Very nice to meet you!
