The bad news is that I had to take him down after 2 days. I had more people come screaming up to my house than ever.Great stories. But two things made me take it down.
First, the cops advised me that it would cause traffic accidents as they almost wrecked when they drove by.
Second, a 55 year old lady grabbed the 75 pound ladder almost killed herself putting it against my house and didn't realize it was fake until she climbed to the top (she was not happy). By the way, she was one of many people who attempted to do that. My yard couldn't take it either. I have more than a few tire tracks where people literally drove up my yard.
Of all the hotels in the Dells, I think the Kalahari is the most expensive both for their rooms and for their food. We prefer to stay at the Chula Vista we go to the Dells. We found they have the nicest of all the suites we've ever stayed in and the people are the friendliest there.
We really don't have a need to stay overnight in the Dells and get a hotel otherwise. I'm not a big fan of most things in the Dells. Just too touristy for me. I can think of many places I would rather go. I don't think there are any places that have much for good food in the Dells. I had many bad meals there. I used to like going to the Green Mill, but they closed the one there. I guess the food was too good and they didn't want the other restaurants to get jealous so they closed it.
We would never think of staying at any of the water parks in the Dells since neither of us are swimmers or like being in water much. I can't see spending that much as they charge at Kalahari or the other parks. I'm not sure why Edy's has their Christmas party there. I'm guessing they sell the ice cream for there. I really don't know. I never looked for ice cream. I would like to try one of the other resorts if they would have a party there. I'm kind of bored with Kalahari after 3 years in a row. The bars they have aren't very fun and it's expensive to drink there. A bottle of beer is $4.50 and that's just for an ordinary bottle of Bud or Miller. One of those giant margaritas was $20. I didn't think that was a good deal. There was one lady that drank 2 of those and she wasn't normally a drinker. She didn't even seem tipsy. I'm guessing it was mostly ice and juice. What a shock that the Dells would skimp on booze.
Good news is that I truly out did myself this year with my Christmas decorations.
I saw that in my email. I can't believe people thought that was real. Yes, the guy looks real, but common sense would tell you that a rain gutter won't support a person's weight. Also how easy would it be to grab a gutter on the way down. Chances are you would be halfway to the ground or on the ground before you had a chance to put your arms up. Funny display though.
Okay...I went to the store and picked up some milk and beer so I'm all set for the big snow storm that's heading our way. I will be hibernating for the next couple of days if we get the "up to 12 inches of snow" they are predicting for our area. I better call my hubby and remind him to bring home some gas for the generator just in case the power goes out. Wouldn't want the beer to get too cold!
On the plus side, I got all my Christmas cards with letters and pictures sent out today so I don't have to worry about that now.
Today was Krystal's first day at her new school.. she got to sit with some neighbor's at lunch and seemed to be happy about the whole thing.. wow, 3rd grade! (I can't remember that far back, can you?)

Love it! Just the necessities...milk and beer! Spoken like a true cheesehead! LOL

At least you got the necessities. We really don't have to worry too much about that. The grocery store is half mile from our house. I have plenty of booze to last me for several snowstorms. If I run out I have 3 batches of homemade liquor fermenting in the basement.

Actually I remember my 3rd grade class very well. In fact I can remember as far back as early 2 years old. I remember quite well taking piano lessons at 3, certain toys I use to play with back then, my kindergarten teacher and how the room looked, what we read in first grade (Dick and Jane), how I dropped my crayons on the floor and the teacher wrote my name on the board for disturbing the class and I was yelled at to pick the crayons up! lol I was so embarrassed, and how I loved the special place we could hang up our raincoats and we always had to put our boots right under our coats. lol I can remember that room very well with the old pull down shades with the long strings and the way we use to love going outside to play but at that young age we had to stay on the younger kids side of the building with the small swings.
I even remember the old Janitor we had and how the boiler room smelled weird and how I hated going to the nurses office that was hidden way back of the main office because it was always dark and had a real medicine smell.
3rd Grade I had a teacher I truly liked and she left for weeks while she was on her honeymoon. I remember I missed her so much my Mom cut her wedding picture out of the newspaper and gave it to me.
I'm told that is strange how I can remember things way back in my life but I do remember them quite clearly.
I remember much of grade school. 2nd better than 3rd because I did a lot of schools in 3rd.
We called it the "cloak room," Patti. A glorified half hallway, half closet adjacent to our classroom.
We also had a cloak room of sorts with many extra coat hooks in the assembly area for lunch so we could grab our coats directly after eating to devote the rest of lunch hour to the playground. Still remember the day in 5th grade that purely on a lark I tossed my hat from the entrance to the lunchroom staging area onto a hook 40 or 50 feet away ~ bonus! ~ with a bunch of friends watching. Just too cool for school.
Tomorrow I'll finally be going to the doctor for some real cough meds. Been coughing for almost 5 weeks and just not going away. My husband has been after me for a couple of weeks to go see the doctor, but I thought over the counter would do the trick. It always does. Reason I'm posting this here now is so that tomorrow you can nag me if I don't get it taken care of.
One thing I have to say though is my stomach muscles are getting strong from all the coughing. It's like free exercise.
I was just reading this sad, sad story in our paper. A couple was shot to death at a Jefferson bar on Saturday night. It was in the parking lot. Seems there was some kind of argument, but no details on what it was about yet. The woman was a police officer so I wonder what happened and if she had dealt with the guy before as a criminal. The guy that shot them had a tattoo that said "nothing to lose" on the front of his neck. It should have said "Loser." Such a tragedy.
Helloooo! Just popping in to say Hi. Busy day here. I've been trying to stay ahead of the snow and keep the deck and drive shoveled off. Already had to do it twice, plus I still ended up having to run to town to get my DIL a birthday gift...I almost forgot about her birthday! I wouldn't want to be one of those kinds of mother-in-laws!
Also had a salesman from one of the phone books we advertise in show up to renew our ad. I wish people would call first! I hate it when someone just "stops by". What if I was running around the house in my underwear? You never can tell with these hot flashes I've been having lately, I might actually "strip down" some time!

You might get some perv peeking in your window if you post that here.

LOL I'm sure my neighbor across the street would call and tell me if there was someone hanging around my house. She is the "neighborhood watch" person and very good at it too. She keeps a log of what is going on in the neighborhood and writes in it every day. She even jots down license numbers on cars if they are at your house in case they are up to no good!
Wow, she needs a hobby. That sounds kind of nosy. I wonder what she writes about you. "Cindy was running around in underpants today and they were red."

LOL Now that make me wonder a bit. The other day when I was at her house she did have a pair of binoculars sitting by the window, so she could see over to our house with them! Actually, the front porch takes up the whole front of our house with the living room behind that and it has heavy drapes, so you can't see into our house...not on the front side anyway. Now the sides and the back, most certainly since I keep the blinds open there all the time for the cats to look out.

I saw some more details on what happened at that bar on Saturday. The woman (an off duty police officer) and her boyfriend went with friends to the bar. The girls were out dancing and goofing around like most people having fun at a bar. The girls were playfully grabbing people's butts just joking around, nothing sexual. One guy didn't like it and told the woman off very rudely. It had to be pretty nasty what he said to her for it to lead to an argument. At the end of the night she had told her boyfriend what the guy said to her. The boyfriend got angry and started arguing with the guy which eventually led to both of them (the couple) getting shot in the parking lot where the argument took place. The guy was a biker from a not so nice biker gang.
The question is why would the biker have a loaded gun with him at the bar? That in itself is scary. It would seem like he was almost looking for a fight or an excuse to start one. Any one of them could have walked away instead of letting it go this far. Sometimes you just need to drop it and realize that it's not worth the argument. Just go home and call it a night.
The biker acted up in court and had to be carried out of there and tasered. I saw the video and I'm glad he's no longer on the street and a danger to us. What a violent creep.
The thing that gets me is the reader comments I came across today. Many people siding with the murderer and many asking what the victims did to deserve it, after all they must have done something wrong. I hate that blame the victim mentality that so many have. Time to put the blame where the blame is due and that's the criminal. A butt grab doesn't give an excuse to murder. He's just a hothead.
Okay, it can stop snowing any time now! I've shoveled the deck off three times today and the driveway twice already! I just finished the second round about a half hour ago. Hubby came out to check to see if I got drifted in but he didn't offer to help, so tomorrow, it will be his turn to do all the shoveling. I'm sure I'll be too sore to lift a shovel by morning anyhow. Now if he had only gotten the snow blower in for a tune up when I told him to we wouldn't have to do all this shoveling. I estimate that we have around 7 inches of snow already and they are saying we could have up to 16 by the time it's all done!
I think I'm going to finish up my hot chocolate and jump in a warm bath and skedaddle off to bed. I'm starting to get sleepy already. Later...
