Oh boy Dave, you better watch out now...I just read this story and for some reason lol I thought of you....
Couple Busted for Refusing to Pay Tip
If you’re frustrated by poor service at a restaurant, think twice before you decide to not tip. You may be in for a bit more than just a dirty look from the waiter.

I saw that story and that's crazy that they had them arrested. It just makes the restaurant look bad for their already lousy service. They should just be happy they got their bill paid at all. I know often menus will state that gratuity is included with large parties. That's probably so the waitress doesn't get stiffed.
I heard on the radio that couple will plead 'not guilty' and the judge will most likely throw the case out. I can't see how they can force you to tip, especially if the service was slow and poor.

Not sure why the case is even going to court. The restaurant sure failed there. Do they think that this will make customers rush there to eat? The restaurant will lose the business of those people and everyone those people know, not to mention those that are disgusted at the restaurant's behavior.

If I was the business I would be afraid that the customers will not turn around and sue for something..maybe for false arrest, embarrassment that caused undue emotional duress, something, anything. Nowadays a good lawyer could come up with something. I wouldn't blame the customers either. They were put though enough.
And no, if this was around here I would not go to the restaurant that would go that far to upset their customers. This should have been dealt with quietly. Crazy.
I'd be afraid to enter that restaurant for fear that they'd arrest me for something stupid.
These days a business really has to watch it when they treat customers poorly. With social media and forums it can spread like wildfire in no time. I saw it on Twitter a couple of times yesterday and today.
I used to eat at a restaurant across the street from a flea market in Clarence, NY years ago.. the cook at this place was so certifiable (and that's no exaggeration) that people would go in there just to see him be rude and yell at the customers. He would literally ask to see your wallet (money) before he'd serve you.. threw a customer out of the restaurant for leaning back in a booth with his head against the wall.. the Soup Nazi had nothing on this guy!
At the other extreme, you have Lambert's in Sikesville, Missouri.. Home of the Throwed Rolls.. you want dinner rolls, they literally throw them across the restaurant to you. People actually come in with baseball mitts and fishing nets to catch them. It's all in good fun tho.

To early to tell if it is going to be sunny or not today, it looks kinda dark and maybe gloomy out right now. Heard it was suppose to turn nice out so lets keep our fingers crossed for a great weekend of weather.
Had the swine flu shot yesterday and so far so good. Thought maybe I would be in some discomfort at least around the shot area but it actually is just a little bit in the muscle when I move but otherwise I wouldn't even know I had a shot. Cool.
Hey toes you were mentioned on the 5 letter game a few comments from the end. If you have time you should check it out.
5 letter game has been very active for a handful of members but we could really use some new input so if you have been just 'watching' now's the time to really jump in and shoot off a few answers. Before you know it you will be hooked on it.

I've been to Lambert's and they do go around with pots of food to fill you up even before your dinner comes out. We didn't get biscuits thrown at us, but they were delivered by a cart. I remember reading about them giving you a paper towel to put your fried potatoes on, but we got plates. The other things they gave you were black-eyed peas, tomato and pasta, and fried okra. They also walked around yelling sorghum molasses. That was for the biscuits. The biscuits were so fresh that they burned your fingers from the heat.
My pork chop dinner came out in a big skillet and those chops were huge. Too bad we couldn't take the leftovers with us.
There are 3 Lambert's restaurants, not just the one you mentioned.
Yeah, I knew there were other locations, but have only been to the one a couple times.
When we were there last, a waiter rolled around a cart of rolls, both passing them out and throwing them. He actually burned one in at a teen customer, a really fast pitch that missed the customer and hit the window pretty hard.
The first time we went, there was a 2 hour wait to get in.. not sure it was worth the wait but a good place to eat if you have the time and inclination.
They called the food they brought around "pass-arounds"..
Other than the theatrics, the place reminds me of Cracker Barrel somewhat.

Yuck, political talk. I try to stay from that, because it just ends up with a bunch of people arguing and looking like fools.
Hey, I resemble that remark!
Actually, trying to have our Political Forums NOT resemble that remark.

I think the judge may order the tip paid. A contract. May not want to set a precedent. Hard to say.
