No smellin' gas any longer.......geez. What a joke. But that's the South for ya, I swear! They finally came at 11am to check my NATURAL GAS LEAK! Gee, good thing my neighbor fixed it at 6am!!! The 2 guys, Billy Bob & Jethro walked up, squirted the soap on the spot I told them to and it was fixed. I told them my neighbor took care of it.
I asked why it took so long and they said I was call #15.......problem was that DISABLING COLD of 34 degrees this morning after having 80 degree days, the fluxuations in heat/cold contract and expand the pipe and they loosen up, blah blah blah.
So now I know how to fix it myself.
When my neighbors tore their house down after Ivan, their demo co. hit a gas line and our neighborhood was reaking with gas overnight and into the next day, the NEVER showed up, we had to call the fire dept. They had more pull getting them over here. (no homes were in danger then because we were all destoyed by the hurricane anyway)
Things don't move too fast down here......
People are freaking out again because it's supposed to get down to freezing every day this week overnight.....ha ha ha! I had some dog walks on the island today and it was so distinctive, the "locals" and the "snow birds". The locals were wrapped head to toe in parkas, mittens, boots and caps, and the tourists were jogging down the bike paths in tanks and shorts.........pretty funny.
I would be the parka person.
Actually after today, the straight jacket seems more fitting......
Hope everyone had a great day!!!

You'd think the Gas Company could give a two hour window, or call your cell 30 minutes to an hour ahead of arriving...and you'd think they'd want you to be somewhere ELSE when you smell gas.

That's enough with passing around the colds here!
For goodness sake, I hope no one gets an STD!
Regards,
Keith
I wouldn't worry about the STD thing, Keith--I'm pretty sure you have to lick the monitor to transmit those...
Yikes, Toes! Sounds like you've had a day-and-a-half. Glad the gas leak got fixed; too bad the gas company wasn't slightly more concerned...good thing you didn't have a bunch of candles burning...
Morning all
Have any orange juice Alice? It's a cold one up here in Wisconsin too. Have a great day everyone.
Fresh squeezed of course....sure!
I have several clients that have fruit trees, Kumquat (my fav), tangerine, blood orange, lime, lemon trees. All are just PACKED with ALMOST ripe fruit! YEAH! Looks like a bumper crop this year. All of them leave me bags full around Dec/Jan. My juicer gets a workout!
My plan is to grow some as well, once we get our privacy fence installed....too many wayward teenagers come back into our neighborhood.
PS: My gas line was leaking again this AM, I did NOT call the gas company, I tightened it myself.....now I think I will call my plumber and see if he can seal everything up properly. Um, gee....maybe use some sort of sealant that works below 40 degrees? DUH. But I guess I could do that myself as well....and plumbing experts out there?

Thanks for the sticky buns, Toes...they go perfect with the coffee 'n juice.
Got to work yesterday and it was 50 degrees in the studio. No gas leaks, though. The studio I work in is in an OLD building that has radiators, if you can believe that. I didn't think they existed outside of old movies. It's amazing how fast they heat up the place once they get going. Within an hour it was nice and toasty--even in that big open space.
I happen to be at our Walmart yesterday morning and went passed the holiday decor and, no purple trees. Later I was at Big Lots with my daughter and noticed the different sizes and shapes they had for trees and among the different colors they had purple. Maybe the Walmart was sold out but didn't see even a space for purple. But all stores are different.
phew, am I glad to be home safe and sound tonight. There was a bad accident just outside of Watertown in hwy. 16. No cops were at the scene yet, so I must have just got there right after it happened. Glass and car parts all over the place. I sure hope the driver of the car is ok, because his car was in rough shape. I hate to see things like that.
I had to drive on the shoulder to get around it all. Then some guy thinks he was going to pass me on the left side while the rest of us were still driving down the shoulder. I thought what an idiot this guy is. All we need is more cars involved in an accident.
Never heard anything about this...... roads were bad though. I ran into lots of black ice. Cars were getting mad that I was driving slower then norm. One guy passed me on 18 and ahead of me lost control and spun out into a ditch. I suspect he slowed down after that....
I sat and pondered if I should write and admit that I racked my brain as to what a STD was. I feared if I did not figure it out that I could maybe come down with it or my computer will get it. So these are some of the things I came up with (joke).
STD = SYSTEM TRANSFORMATION DEVELOPMENT (your computer transforms into something else)?
STD = SERIOUS TOE DEFORMALITY (from sitting at the computer to long)
STD = STICKY TONGUE DEPRESSION (from sleeping at your computer and drooling).
STD = SLEEPING TICK DEVELOPMENT (also developed from sleeping on your keyboard, gives you a weird nervous tick in your face).
STD = SCHIZOAFFECTIVE TECHNOLOGY DISORDER (some form of mental issue from being at your computer for great lengths of time, lol)
Anyone else care to come up with what a STD could be? LOL LOL
Drinking hot tea and I'm a little more awake now! Have to cancel a dr's appt and do some work on my new www.hotdealsandfreebies.com this afternoon to get it up and running. The forum software is installed, just working on what sub-boards I want to begin with at launch.
Also have to finish watching a documentary on Jackie Chan's Stunts.. I love that guy!
