I saw something cool today. We were driving down the road past some fields and I saw about 40-50 sandhill cranes. I love spotting wildlife in the fields. I've never seen that many cranes together.
Wouldn't you know it, I didn't have my camera with me today. Not sure how close I could have gotten to the birds.
Someone needs to get them a calendar...they need to get to Florida. They are already suppose to be in route there.

Maybe they decided to have a little going away party first in some farmer's field. At least they remembered to bring the whole flock.
I remember last year or the year before I saw a heron in the water in Dec. We had snow and ice was forming on the water. He was still here and I was thinking what the heck is he still doing here yet? Maybe his friends forgot to tell him about the trip to Florida that was scheduled earlier.
I am watching a couple Herons right now, braving the "cold", relatively speaking.......having a bit of breakfast of Mullet right now.
I am so p-o'd right now.....I went to roll my dumpster to the street for garbage pickup at 6am....brrr...cold out there.........and I smelled gas. Lots of GAS! I ran inside (no gas smell in the house thank goodness) and called the Gas. CO. They said they would call me back.....waited 20 minutes, called again, they said wait some more, busy morning. (I have/HAD no idea how to turn it off) So, I called my neighbor, he put his pants on and came right over. Found the leak.....it was the main connection from the street that came loose, from the COLD, the "seal" or whatever the GUNK is they put around it, cracked and came off. ("cold" here means below 40) He fixed it and we relit all the pilots for everything.
So, called the gas company back to CANCEL the call and they said they can't.....have to send someone out anyway for "safety".
Well, I told them I have to go to work.....and the snotty lady on the phone said if I do not wait for them they will LOCK IT DOWN.
WTH???? And her time estimate was 1-5 hours.......I am so MAD right now.
They better show up soon. Sorry for the venting, I better take my shower while I can...... before they turn my gas off.......later Gators

If they were sooo worried about "safety" they should respond to a gas smell in a heartbeat! not have you keep waiting... that's just crazy!!!!
Morning, all.. busy weekend catching up on all my cleaning I'd let slide.. starting to shake this cold (I think, fingers crossed).. actually feel fairly good this morning!
How about you? How will you spend your day?
Time for a (late) breakfast here of eggs and waffles.. be back in a bit!
OK, here's my thought for today. I think it's Dave's fault that Carol is sick.
How is this you may wonder??
Well I think while she was in her posting frenzy that Dave was online at the same time when he was sick and SNEEZED all over his monitor and the cold germs went through onto the bubbler and all over poor Carol.
OK, what do you think?? Dave's fault..yup..gotta be.

LOL LOL
It is Dave's Fault!! I do remember reading his post how he was sick...and I thought I heard someone sneeze!
Thanks a lot Dave!
Glad you solved this mystery PK!! Now I just have to get better.
Well there you have it folks..another mystery solved.
Now Carol you know it's up to you now not to sneeze on your monitor and get the rest of us sick.
I'm very careful about that....I'd never do such a thing.....and to think it's all Dave's fault again.... we need to put a tracking device on him so we know he is at all times and what trouble he's getting into next!
phew, am I glad to be home safe and sound tonight. There was a bad accident just outside of Watertown in hwy. 16. No cops were at the scene yet, so I must have just got there right after it happened. Glass and car parts all over the place. I sure hope the driver of the car is ok, because his car was in rough shape. I hate to see things like that.
I had to drive on the shoulder to get around it all. Then some guy thinks he was going to pass me on the left side while the rest of us were still driving down the shoulder. I thought what an idiot this guy is. All we need is more cars involved in an accident.
