Nothin' but tent! Did it last year in the cold - wasn't a problem. It should be fun!

....Now, a very great man once said
That some people rob you with a fountain pen
It didn’t take too long to find out
Just what he was talkin’ about
A lot of people don’t have much food on their table
But they got a lot of forks ’n’ knives
And they gotta cut somethin’....

Camped really late fall before with the rain and the wind off the lake. Burrrrr...by morning the rain turned to sleet and some snow. Totally cold. Ended up moving into the van at the time to keep warm. That was many years ago. I would never do it now. I like comfort to much now. lol
ahhhh...I see we are all dreaming about the millions we all wish to win someday.
I think if I won I would have to just sit and ponder for a long time as to what to do with it all. I would totally share with my kids but how? Do you just hand over money, invest in their name, buy homes for them? Lots to consider that's for sure. I would be just so tickled if I just won a nice sum like 1 million. Then I would be set for a very long time but not have everyone staring at me and suddenly trying to be my new best friend. lol
I've had nothing to do here at work today, no one has, partially cuz our boss started her 10 day vacation today lol
It's soooo boring that everyone has decided to use vacation time & leave... as in i'm the only one left here on my team... let's see, do i use vacation time & go home to play online before i go out later or do i stay here at work, getting paid, playing online till i go out later... yeah i'll be surfin the web for the next hour & a half here at work, making that green

We stopped by the Salvation Army thrift store today on our way to the Dollar Tree and I picked up two Mastercrafters Fireplace clocks, both for $9.50. They both run. One is missing the plastic andiron insert and needs a bulb. The other needs a bulb and an oiling. I've seen these go over $100 each on eBay.. one recently went for $113.50.

Neat clocks Dave! And what a bargain for the two of them! You sure find lots of interesting things!
Thanks.. I love Mastercrafters clocks to begin with, couldn't leave them there at that price. Just saw one go over $140 on eBay so they're worth fixing if need be and hanging on to.

It's rainy, cold, and dreary outside, and we just got home from a very difficult wake and was greeted by a crock pot of home made beef stew. Oh how much I love my crock pot.
I know most think Sweetest Day is a silly over rated Hallmark Holiday that should be over looked or at best, forgotten or ignored but I like Sweetest Day. Maybe because it isn't a huge commercial holiday such as Valentines Day, or because it is a just because day for people to stop and remember those that are their 'sweeties' whether it may be a husband/wife, b/f, g/f, or even a son/daughter. It's just a nice excuse to stop and be nice for a day or a good excuse to go out to eat. Or maybe I like it because it is a FALL HOLIDAY and I love the fall. Another reason I think I like it is the fact that our part of the country basically is the only ones that celebrate Sweetest Day. It's like our own little holiday.
Anyways, whatever the case, just wanted to say....for the ones that believe in Sweetest Day, hope your day is a happy one.
No really true. We once won $10,000 from our credit card company. It actually ended up being $7,200 after taxes. The downside was that we ended up using it all for bills and paying for classes. Didn't get to buy anything fun with it or for the house which we needed. It doesn't go as far as one thinks either. That's why I'm thinking a million wouldn't go that far over time. Not enough to retire on, but I'd take it anyway to buy things for my house.
I don't think I'd be sharing much with family if we won the lottery. I'd hate to be around to see how stupid they spent it. First, I'd think about me and then think about others. Selfish? Maybe, but it's my money, not theirs. Not sure why the first thing people think of is giving it away. Is it guilt over suddenly being rich or feeling uncomfortable with that much money around? I'm sure I could get used to it really fast. I'd be moving to someplace else where there's no snow, that's for sure.

Just another day for Hallmark to make money. We don't really get into it. Shouldn't everyday be sweetest day? Although I'll take the flowers lol. I prefer to get flowers for no special reason instead of a certain day. Surprises are better.
Good morning everyone! I've already been to town and back. I have my errands done and my house all cleaned. Now I'm just waiting for my sister to arrive from Mt. Horeb. We will be going out for supper in Reedsburg and then we are going to the Celtic Woman concert at the Crystal Grand Theater in the Dells. Maybe if I can talk her in to it, we might also stop at Ho Chunk Casino on the way back. She is staying over night here and then we are planning to go to a craft place tomorrow. It's owned by an some old neighbors of ours and our families used to get together all the time when we were younger. In fact, both my sister and I dated their son for awhile in high school. They have consignment craft items in an old silo, barn and grainery and there are walking trails down through the pastures and woods if you want to go for a hike. I'm sure looking forward to having some fun the next couple of days.
Nah, I'd give it away because one person doesn't need that kind of money and there are plenty of people who even $100 could make a huge difference..

The amount I was talking about was a million, not the $16 million or whatever the lottery was just up to. A million doesn't go far. I did the math. If you wanted to live on $50,000 a year that would last you 20 years. That's provided you don't get cancer or some other costly illness. Having said that I'd need $3 million to be safe and if I live to 93 like my grandma, I'd need more than 20 years worth of money. Sadly, that million that looks so big in the beginning sure shrinks fast when one does the math per year.
Since I'll never win a lottery or at a casino, looks like any million is just a dream. However, I'll happily accept donations from anyone that wins a big lottery.

I agree with you, call me selfish, i'll be rich & selfish lol
If i won enough to never work again, like 16 mil or whatever was won this past week... My kids of course would be taken care of, that goes without saying & also the 2 people who took the time & helped me back in the day when i struggled with two kids, they would not be forgotten, but wouldn't be rich either... other than that it's all mine & i'm moving away & taking my best friend with me.
They say you need at least $5 million to live "comfortably" and "secure".. $1 million doesn't pay the bills any more.
