Did you invent the church of rock 'n' roll? That'd be cool.

Yesterday while playing drums at church (I do that almost every Sunday) I was towards the end of a big fill when my drum stick launched out of my right hand. It did a nice high arc right towards me wife (who sings almost every Sunday). Luckily it didn't hit her, but hit the stand she was sharing with another singer, and then bounced in front of the front row. We are a small, new church, so EVERYONE saw, and all of them had a good laugh. I was soooo embarrassed!

Then, while fixing lunch at home, I brought 3 cans of soup to my wife for her to choose from. I dropped one right on the back of her wrist, hitting tendon and bone. AHHH! I felt so bad. What a day!

Lucky for me, my wife took pity on me in both instances. What a woman.

Today she is going to the podiatrist and getting a cortisone shot for her planter fasciitis. I'm praying it helps!

Have a good Monday everyone.
CLUTZ!! lol

I've had three cortisone shot for my planter fasciitis... it hurt bad the first day, especially 3-4 hrs after the shot, then felt better (still some pain, not as bad) for a few days then mine went back to where it was before... hence why i've had 3 shots & still in a lot of pain to this day.

I've been a toilet before and my husband was the multi-pack of toilet paper. It was a long time ago. His TP said "Rotten Smell" on the front and "Brown Cloud" on the back. (Cottonelle and White Cloud altered). I carried around my toilet brush all night. We won a couple of prizes with this costume.

This year's costume idea for my husband is going as a fat Ronald McDonald and having food spills on his shirt. He would carry around a Flabby Meal or Fatty Meal package. He doesn't want to do it because he thinks it will be too hard to make a fat suit in yellow. I said all he really needed was a big beer gut and people would get it.
some great ideas!

Fat Ronald lol love it!

It's actually very common. We have bass, electric guitar, acoustic guitar, keyboard, and vocals. My wife also plays flute. We play comtemporary Christian music. If you've never heard any, you'd be surprised at how it sounds - not like the cheesy crap from the 80's and early 90's. Look up Third Day, Todd Agnew (very blues/jazz/rock - Grace Like Rain, Lay It Down, etc), Lincoln Brewster (great guitar solos - especially Salvation is Here), Mercyme, Jeremy Camp (Worthy of my Praise), David Crowder Band (No One Like You, Never Let Go), etc. There are many many others - and most are not out to make a buck, but try to practice what they preach. Just listen for the musical quality if the thought of Christian lyrics makes you cringe.

In church we play the more worshipful songs, but still rock out a bit.

So far she feels much better. She's supposed to do new exercises to build up certain muscles. We all hope it gets better, sort of put a damper on the entire summer, especially for her.

Darn, our church is so boring. I always thought if they made it more lively or even had a rock band singing the hymns, attendance would increase by a lot. Instead it makes me want a nap.

I've probably heard a bit of it like at the Salvation Army they play it in the store.

Again, our church is so boring. We need to liven it up and get more energy going. I'm not sure the older folks would like it, but why not speed things up a bit. Bring it to the current century. Even the preacher needs to be more lively. How about walking around instead of hiding behind a podium? Maybe have some visuals every now and then. Maybe he needs a powerpoint presentation to go with it. LOL Just seems like they need to take advantage of modern technology to interest the younger generation.

We checked out lots of churches in our area when we first moved here to see which one suited us. One we went to had a Christian rock band and they were good. What turned us off of going there though was that they played for over an hour and a half before the service even started and by the time everything was done, we were there for almost four hours. That's a bit too long for us. We ended up joining a very tiny country type church for several years until they closed and sent the minister to Altoona. We were very sad to see it close but with less than 20 members, it was just a matter of time. Even though we sang mostly old time hymns there, the minister was very funny and would usually play guitar and sing one or two modern songs so we never fell asleep during service. The church we go to now is kind of in between old time and modern and is much bigger but still small in comparison to the rest of the churches in the area. I think I heard at one time that there were around 25 churches in Richland Center which is a large number considering the towns population is less than 5,000.

Not even just reaching the younger generation, but being more effective all around. Did you know that a lot of the "old hymns" we sing were orginally drinking songs that Martin Luthor converted? Don't tell that to the old "purists." They'd give you dirty looks. Speaking of those old "purists," if they want to do it like it used to be done, then go about about 2000 years...

So does that mean you will be walking around all night with a chair stuck to your behind? Sounds like a very interesting costume Blue!

How hilarious! I guess I could use my toilet costume and dress up as a "big piece of poo" if we go out this year. I tried to sell the costume at my sister's garage sale a few weeks ago for $4 and no one bought it! It did get a lot of laughs though and one little boy kept going up to it and running his hands up and down the legs...I guess he liked the feel of the nylons? Or maybe he was practicing for when he grows up?

Neat idea for a costume. Does he already have the "big beer gut" or would you have to make him one? I don't know what my hubby would dress as if we go out...he doesn't like to draw attention to himself so he's not really into the whole Halloween fun like some of us are. Party pooper!

As I said before many times that I love many styles of music and CHRISTIAN ROCK...ROCKS!

We use to always listen to The Fish radio station out of Chicago and Milwaukee and then it seem to just get lost unless it changed names or stations? Anyways, we listen to alot of K-Love station now.

Mercyme Band is awesome and has one of my ultimate favorite songs, I Can Only Imagine. It was played at my Mom's funeral and I have told my kids that I want it at mine someday. Awesome song.

The Fish got bought by K-LOVE, which in many ways is too bad as some good local people lost jobs, but good that it meant saving the radio station.

I wondered if that is what happened. We do like K-Love but I think The Fish was a bit more upbeat and happy if that makes sense. Not sure where K-Love is based out of but we seem to not get as 'strong' of a signal as we did The Fish. Sometimes it seems to fade out and we just turn the channel which is sad since we then go on and listen to completely different music.

I'm not using a chair, I think it's just going to be cardboard boxes painted up. This style of electric chair has no legs, just solid to the floor. I'm making fake legs for the front of me like I'm sitting.

How hilarious! I guess I could use my toilet costume and dress up as a "big piece of poo" if we go out this year. I tried to sell the costume at my sister's garage sale a few weeks ago for $4 and no one bought it!
I've sold a number of costumes on ebay. I've gotten decent money for them. Wish ebay were around years ago and I could have sold all my old costumes. I never keep them since I never use them again.

Neat idea for a costume. Does he already have the "big beer gut" or would you have to make him one? I don't know what my hubby would dress as if we go out...he doesn't like to draw attention to himself so he's not really into the whole Halloween fun like some of us are. Party pooper!
No he doesn't have much of a gut, maybe a tiny beer gut, but nothing that would show under a costume.

Yes, your husband is a party pooper. It's fun to be someone else for a day. Guess I have trouble understanding those that are afraid to dress up for anything. Not even a theme party like a beach/Hawaiin theme. I've had people tell me that they can't dress up for Halloween because they can't think of an idea. Helllloooo!! Just look at what most people do every year, there's a clue. They seem to think since we go all out, that they must, too. I always tell them it's different for us since we are competing for prizes and they aren't. You can whip together a costume just by looking at what you have around the house or at a thrift store. It really is that easy if you don't care about a prize.

I don't attend Mountain Faith anymore because they are beyond money hungry! However yu could never nap there... they have the big screen going with videos made during their travels (they travel a lot & as a member, you pay for it).. the band in super cool, lots of jumping up and down & singing gospel rock music, kinda cool.

When i was in TYexas we had a gospel rock music channel that was kinda cool.

That sounds really neat Blue! You must be quite creative to come up with stuff like that.

I think I still have all the costumes I've made for us and for my sons when they were little. Never know when the grandkids might want to wear them.

I really like going out to the bars and seeing all the different costumes at Halloween. Unfortunately, we live in such a rural area that we have to travel some distance to do that. I wish more places still had Halloween costume contests like they used to back when we first got married. One year we went with some friends as a six pack of Old Style beer. I still have my costume and was thinking maybe some day I will update it to a can of Miller since Old Style isn't in business any more.

It's a shame that churches do that - makes many people think that all are like that. Our offering box is in the back - no one passes it around. In fact, we have no paid staff. Granted, money is needed, but only to pay the bills and as an outreach to the community, etc.

The more a Church makes you feel 'obligated' the less I want to give. Funny how that works and you think some places would get the idea. I don't mind the offering plate discretely passed around just hate when they make a huge deal about it and then everyone watches who gives and who doesn't. I've been to a few places like that and .. well, let's just say I don't go them now.
