We went to Cempazuchi's today to eat. That was the Guy Fieri stop from a week ago. It was good in some ways and not so good in others.
The bad: My husband's dinner was small and looked more like a light lunch or appetizer. He said it was ok tasting, but for that price, why so small? He ordered the duck tacos.
The Good: My dinner was much larger and very good. I ordered the special which was poblano mole on chicken enchiladas. Mine came with rice and hubby's didn't. We also liked the salsa that came with the chips. One was your ordinary salsa and the other was made with peanuts, which I couldn't taste, but it did taste sweet and had cinnamon in. Very different.
They make 7 different mole sauces, but you never know which one is being served that day since it's never on the same days. Waitress said I got the best one they make.
I'd go back, but wouldn't order the duck tacos again. Makes me wonder which dinners are generous and which are tiny. My husband said the duck tacos looked bigger and better on the Diners & Drive Ins show..figures!
Well hello there! Had to spend some time catching up.....duck tacos? YUM! It always turns to food, eh? I had Mahi Tacos the other day here in Navarre at a very good "Mexican" (Baja-style) restaurant called The Cactus Flower Cafe. WOW! I am working my way through their menu slowly, about 1/3 there. They have simply outstanding food, ALL homemade sauces/salsa/queso, everything made to order unlike most Mexican places. They use all fresh herbs, lots of veggies, etc. Good fresh food.
My son is doing well with his new job here, the new Sushi Bar has pretty much been packed daily! Gee, Sushi Bar on the Gulf Of Mexico? Makes sense to me, why didn't anyone open one up years ago?
If anyone watches the Weather Channel, Mr. Jim Cantore was in my neck of the woods all day yesterday. Woke up early Sunday morning to the news saying a storm developed OVERNIGHT! Yikes! We are preparing for "Ana" and "Bill", which are both a week out, then along comes Tropical Storm Claudette out of the blue.
It made landfall around 1am today in Ft Walton Beach/Destin, which is 20/25 miles East of me. We didn't even get any wind, a little rain. But I am stocked up and prepared for the next one!
Other big local news: Some fishermen about 40 miles offshore from where I live were busy photographing some Whale Sharks (the largest sharks in the world, but totally harmless, they eat plankton) when they noticed a very large shadow approach, thinking it was another Whale Shark.
NOPE! It was a very rare GREAT WHITE SHARK sighting! Oh boy! Great Whites rarely come this close to the Northern Coast of the Gulf of Mexico! funny.....JAWS 2 was filmed here in Navarre.......makes sense now.
Who wants to go swimming?
I have company again, a girlfriend from Appleton, WI! I have a fridge full of cheese (cheese curds! yum!) and some venison (steak/brats/sticks) and.....oh boy........WALLEYE & PERCH in the freezer! I am absolutely elated about that fish! I haven't had either since 2004. My friend wants me to thaw the fish and eat it while she's here! NO WAY! I am saving that for ME! She can eat that up north anytime she wants. Uh uh. No way!
She arrived yesterday, so now begins the "seafood fest". I'll be so sick of shrimp, scallops, etc. by weeks end! Lots of good fresh scallops since it's scallop season here right now.
Oh yeah, we'll have to go have sushi as well.
I'll gain 5# while she is here. She also brought along her little dog (8# mix) which surprisingly is getting along great with both of mine.
So, that's all that's going on in my life, tamed says hi.....she's doing fine, just very busy.
I'll pop in again next weekend and let ya'll know if we survive the next Hurricane....ANA!
Hope everyone is doing well...........

OMG! I had forgotten just how much energy a 4 year old has! After five hours of shopping, going to lunch, playing at the park and taking pictures, I was ready for a nap even though she wasn't! There's no way I could chase after a little one like that every day anymore! Whew! We did have fun though. She's at that age where she likes to get new clothes now and everything she sees she says "That's gorgeous" or "That's beautiful" and "Don't you think that would look good on me". LOL I think I ended up spending lots more on clothes for her and her half brother and sister than I would've had I paid for my son's stuff for college! Grandkids just know how to wrap us around their little finger to get what they want I guess.
My kids aren't ready for babies, however i look forward to the day!
I spent all day Saturday at an amusement park not far from Madison, had never been there but my brother & i took his kids (ages 9 & 11). It was a good day, but HOT!
Nope - I've been to two of them in my life. The first one was Heart Breakers (now called Crazy Horse - or as I call it - Crazy Whores) for a friend's bachelor party. I was sooo bored! One particularly ugly stripper danced in front of me for a while while I tried to look around her. Finally I rolled my eye, pulled out a dollar, and gave it to her so she'd go away! Was also wondering what sort of diseases they might have. What I don't understand is why I would want to pay women (usually with fake parts) to dance naked in front of me when I have someone at home who would do that for free...
I'm assuming everyone heard what happend to Mayor Tom Barrett (mayor of Milwaukee). He got beat up - 1 1/2 blocks from my house! Now I don't live in that rough of a neighborhood so this is unusual, but, as I've stated before, I need to move!

Sad to say but it doesn't matter what type of neighborhood you live in anymore. Crime can and does hit everywhere.
Just a few weeks ago at a local Ice Cream shop, good location, two guys came in the back door at closing and shot and killed a very nice older teenage worker and shot the manager and robbed the place for ...get this, 14.00. Our city is still in shock over this.

Well it's Monday. Everyone ready for another week before a weekend comes around again?
This month is going by way to fast and school is approaching way to quickly. Can't believe how fast this summer has gone by. Is there a magic wand we can wave over the calendar to add another month on before school starts again?

Sounds like a good place to eat. There is a place I go to that has a lot of different items on the menu instead of the same old. Their mole sauce is so good and they make a jalepeno cream sauce that is really good, just the right amount of heat without being too much. Last time I was there I had a dish with plantains.
mmmm Walleye. That's a fave for me.
I saw that about Claudette and said to myself, isn't Fort Walton by Toes? At least it didn't turn out bad.
I drive by there all the time since it's on our way to Sun Prairie. That can be a stinky area at times with the cow farm down the street and the dead animals at the stock yard. Ewww, who goes to the bar next to the stock yard? I wonder if their burgers are made from dead animals? lol Anyway, I know the guy that runs Little Amerrika. He is in a band that we see a lot. If you saw a guy with really long hair running the place, that's him.

You sound like my husband. He never had much interest in strip clubs. He says once you've seen them, you've seen them all. On his bachelor party they went to one and there was a stripper with a really flat chest. One of the guys in the bunch yelled, "You forgot your boobs in your other top." lol lol

If you find that magic wand let me know. I would like a longer summer and so do my flowers. I do have 4 open flowers on my peter peppers finally. Let's hope there's still time for some peppers to form. I baby that plant like you don't believe. Water it all the time and fertilize once a week. Grow, baby, grow!
I need to check in at school this week to see if I need any books for my 2 classes I signed up for and then I need to see about ordering software so I can get it installed before school starts. It didn't go very smooth last time I did it, so let's hope Adobe doesn't let me down again.

About 2 min after I posted about Claudette passing us by, lo and behold a giant wall of water came ashore along with pelting rain and high winds....we got the back side of the storm!!! I have someone's big nice pretty BOAT sitting in front of the house as well! Finders Keepers??
Cops are already here, trying to tie it to a neighbors dock. HUGE waves!
Was not expecting this....thought it was already gone! Ooops!

I know several men who feel the same way & know even more men who prefer a strip club to a bar or dance club.
Funny how it's mostly married/attached men who i have met, who actually like the strip club.

Apparently he stepped in on a guy abusing an elderly lady & her grandchild, after the state fair, according to the news. The guy then turned on the Mayor (not knowing he was a mayor) & whipped his azz.
I bet he was freaking out when he found out it was the Mayor, he knows now he wont win that battle.

Bet they were pissed to get only $14, serves them right.
How sad for the families of these victims. Not even safe to let your child leave home or get a job these days, but what do you do? got to let them go & pray for the best.

There were a lot of people running stuff there, hard to pin point who was in charge. It's a nice place for kids!

That leads me to another point - these guys aren't going to get to touch any of the women (well, for a large price after already paying a bunch), so they get all pumped up and then go home to nothing. Wouldn't it be cheaper to rent a video? Same effect.
Sorry...now I'll get off the subject (absolutely no pun intended).

Watch online for free even... yeah i'll get off of it too
We are back home now. Saturday we decided we should go some place special since it was the last weekend before our son goes back to college. So, after surfing numerous hotels on-line, I was able to book a condo at the Chula Vista Resort in the Dells for Sunday night. They were already full for Saturday so we had to go yesterday through today instead.
My son invited one of his friends along so he would have someone to "hang out with" and go on the rides at the water park with. We have stayed at Chula Vista before but not since they remodeled and added on and I must say we were quite impressed. The condo unit we had was very luxurious and well worth the cost for one night (check out the link below. Our unit was like the one in the two lower pictures). The beds in both bedrooms were the most comfortable we've ever had at a hotel and we really enjoyed the "four season" jacuzzi room with a view of the Wisconsin River right from our own condo unit! While the boys were making use of the water park we lazed around one of the pool side bars having a few tropical drinks. Yum! We didn't dine there but instead trekked to the other side of the Dells and ate at Ho Chunk Casino. Since the "boys" are only 20, they went to the arcade to play video games while we played the slot machines in the casino. We would've been further ahead to play the video games as the slots weren't paying out much last night. But we had lots of fun anyhow and it was great to get away for a short time.
No one really wanted to come back home today though, but i guess you have to get back to reality sooner or later. "sigh"
