We use our Entertainment book a lot but found it is always good to call ahead since hours change or sometimes the place goes out of business.
Have you noticed that there aren't as many restaurants in it this year? I don't know if we'll be getting it again next year. I also noticed some coupons for places that were out of business before the new printing. Like places that went under couple of years ago. The place we wanted to go to was Libiamo's by the old Schlitz building. They were at Festa Italiana this year, so I know they are in business.

Did you go into Usinger's? We like to stop in there and get the back table goodies. It's their discount ends and overruns etc. and usually everything is priced really great. I usually walk out with a bag full.
Never been in there. Never thought of it. I didn't really know about all the bar and restaurants along there. The Spice Store is located right in the half block of bars I was talking about. Capone's/Little Italy, Old German Beer Hall, Buck Bradley's (that's where we ate), and Bootleggers. Mader's is expensive. Seems to be with most German restaurants. Why is that? Some things are good I'm sure, but German isn't really my thing. The sauer kraut smell would make me gag.
I actually just got my book a few weeks ago. Got it really late this year but by waiting I can't remember but I either got it for 5 bucks plus shipping or free, plus shipping. The only catch is that I had to sign up for next year's book now. We did this before and it worked out great. We used enough coupons already to pay for next year's book.
I did think it seemed a bit smaller, especially compared to a few years ago. There are several we use to look forward to using coupons for that simply is gone out of the book the last few years now.
We almost always get the Illinois (northern part) each year to but I did notice it was really smaller last year and we aren't going out as much now so figured I would just stick with our area here.

Hey all.. will be back shortly to do some work.. had to go to the hospital this evening to visit a neighbor. Have my own doctor appt in the morning to renew my prescriptions, etc.

Same here, but it seems like a lot of the ones we used have gone out.
What I do with the book is go through the whole thing and make a list of the places we want to use to make it easy to find them. This way we don't forget about coupons that we wanted to use.
Today we stopped at this place on the way back from Lake Geneva that was in the book. We took one look at the grubby carpeting in the place and turned right back around. Made me wonder how clean the kitchen was. We went across the street to this bar and grill. We ordered Italian beef sandwiches that were pretty good. The spicy giardenia they put on it cleaned my nose out.

Hey that is a great idea. I think I will do the same.
We should get some kind of a coupon exchange going.

lol we did the same one Saturday night. We were out by Lake Geneva and stopped at Louisa's off the side of the road. (coupon in the book). We went in and the waitress sat us and then left and never came back. That was OK since it gave me time to look around and got so grossed out that after I finally peeled my arm off the sticky table we left. Every once in a while when we go by there we laugh and wonder if the waitress ever noticed that we walked out.

So, this morning I figured out why the nice person dropped the hen & rooster in my yard. First, probably thinking my pigeon loft was a chicken coop, second was this poor rooster has the worst cocka doodle doo, I have ever heard, he sounds, like a little old man with breathing problems. Like someone clearing thier airway with a horrible hack; oh yeah; & he wakes up before the sun. I thought someone was in my house with asthma.

Good morning all! Hey where's Toes with our breakfast...I'm hungry. I don't think she's posted in awhile unless I missed it. Where are you Toes? We miss you!
We got quite a storm last night! There were tornadoes and funnel clouds all around us. Luckily there wasn't much damage done. I had put the cats in their carriers in the basement since I didn't want to try and catch them later if a tornado came closer to us. It sure was scary though!
I'm off in a bit to do a few errands in town. Then I may just have to take a nap when I get back. Have a great day!

I don't know why, but your new avatar is making me thing you are PK. Maybe it's the peace signs and smiley faces that seem like something PK would have.
Back from the doctors.. renewed my prescriptions plus found out I have a sinus infection causing the headaches so got meds for that as well. Be back after lunch.

so they just dump it off on someones lawn lol
Yep; they sure did; I was looking out the window early Sunday morning & saw something run across the yard, I wondered what the devil that was? So I got dressed went out there, it wasn't one something, it was two somethings. Did you ever try to catch a running chicken? Not so easy, maybe in my thirties, no problem, even mid-forties easy, mid-sixties, not so much. I drove up & down the road seeing if they could've gotten out of someones yard. The one guy that raises chickens, said they weren't his, (wrong breed) now the grandkids saw them, so I guess I'll have to keep a terrible sounding chicken.

aww maybe you can get rid of it & get one that doesn't sound so annoying & perhaps sleeps at least until the sun comes up? this way the grandkids are happy & you are not going crazy every morning.
How long before the wifey says 'sorry kiddies that crazy bird is gonna be our dinner!?' I couldn't handle a normal rooster sound everyday, much less an annoying one lol I did when i was much younger, can't say i ever enjoyed it though.
Years ago we used to go to a flea market outside Buffalo, NY to set up.. you had to be there by 5am at the latest to even get a spot and they had roosters on the premises that would crow. We'd be trying to catch a few last minutes of sleep in the car and couldn't do it..
It was a great flea market tho back in the 80's.. 1000's of people would come thru. Many times we'd make a $1000 before 10 or 11 in the morning.. crowds would thin out by noon and we'd go home.

Finally home & i refuse to go anywhere tonight... gonna lay on the couch to finally try & catch up on dvr shows from the past couple weeks.... i love the peace & quiet, these are the days that i'm glad i had my kids early on in life
Wow, it's so funny how different people can be at times. lol
I would find the rooster to funny and keep him for sure. The sound would not bother me.
And I love the flash of the avatar..I find myself at times when I'm thinking of what to say in a post just sitting watching it go back and forth! LOL And NO I"m not on drugs! lol lol Just weird I guess, or I just don't let the little things in life bug me. I find a way to fit is all in. lol
Well, I was just thinking it was about time to get a new one anyways, so when I have a few extra minutes I will check around for something else. If I had seen Latino's first I think that is one I would totally have taken. It's really a good one.

Well, it looks like Norman the asthmatic rooster & his bride Gail have a home for life. The boys gave them names, so thats it; they stay. At least I know what kind of chickens they are now, Barred Rock. Now Grandpa has a new project, a permanent home for them. Have a great day all!
