Yes I was wondering about Tamed myself. Haven't seen her around here for a while now. But it's summer so many people are out having fun, or working on projects, vacations, etc. Hopefully what ever is keeping her away it's something fun.
Also, Keith, I see you here for a few minutes at a time but it would be fun to have you on here longer some time soon.
AJE, I saw you online a few days ago. Yeah! Maybe you are starting to find time to check in. Now hopefully you will start posting again. We miss you around here.
Kelly, hope you are doing OK and mending fast. Think of you often and wonder how you are doing. Hurry back.
Hawkins, OK, thought I talked you into coming back and now you are gone again. Will be sending you an email again soon to see how things are going...
LINKSTOTHEPAST, Kris10, Rudedog, where are you all? Miss the great posts everyone use to share in different topics here.
And for everyone else that we haven't seen around here lately, hope your summer is going great and you pop in here again soon.

Keith has been pretty busy.. so busy, in fact, his family went on vacation without him Talked to him the other day but, yeah, he's doing ok otherwise and wishes he could spend more time here himself! Maybe sometime soon!
Meanwhile, got some apartment cleaning to do and breakfast to eat.. be back later!
Good morning everyone! We sure needed that rain we had yesterday...the grass here is green once again.
I may go for a drive today to surrounding towns to put up fliers about our City Wide Garage/Yard Sales. I think I am almost ready for it now...after only a few short months of planning! I have everything priced and organized into categories so if all goes as planned, it can just be hauled out and set up quickly on Saturday morning. Tomorrow I'm baking chocolate chip cookies, snickeroos and caramel brownies for the bake sale part. One of my sisters is coming on Friday and will be staying overnight so we can set up stuff at 6:00 a.m. for the sale. She is also bringing peanut butter bars and regular brownies...plus a van load of more stuff for the sale. I sure hope we have enough tables! My husband is supposed to bring home a couple of his trailers so we can put stuff on them too. So far the weather looks good with sunshine and a high of 80 in the forecast for Saturday. Hope it stays that way!

hmmm maybe i should come there Saturday... i want to get up early & try to get to a couple sales this weekend, i need another kitchen table & chairs actually just the chairs, but both if i find a good deal.
Latina...how is the quitting smoking going for you? Are you handling the "empty nest" thing okay?
I posted about the quitting smoking This thread. It's going well, but still hard.
Empty nest will be full soon... My kids will both be home Saturday & staying for most of the week, since they both have appointments in town later in the week. BUT I am not only getting use to living alone, but enjoying it!
I miss having someone to cook for, besides myself. I also miss not having them there in the evenings when i watch the shows on dvr that we all would sit & watch every night, but i can live with that & now i mostly lay in bed & watch them before bed instead.
It's not as bad as i had expected, it's kinda cool
I stayed up until 2:00 working on signs for the yard sale and then was awakened at 4:00 when the phone rang! My hubby had to go out on an emergency call so I went back to sleep. He said we had a big storm with lots of wind but I never heard a thing! It did knock over stuff on my deck and we have leaves and stuff all over so evidently we must have had some wind.
It is supposed to rain some more today with possible strong winds again so I don't know if we should put the tents up today or if I should try to get the guys up at 5:00 to do it in the morning.
I have laundry and baking to get done before my sister gets here this afternoon so I better get hopping.
In case I don't get on here tomorrow, I will say "HAPPY BIRTHDAY LATINA" a day early. I hope all your birthday wishes come true!
Not sure what my plans are this weekend. Tonight I know we are using a gift certificate for El Mariachi which about 5 min drive for me.
If the weather is decent we will come back and sit on the deck. I'll have to get the screens out on the canopy because the mosquitoes are nasty right now. They bite any time of day and even when standing in the hot sun. It's strange because it's been so dry here that there shouldn't be much for mosquitoes.
Not sure what adventure is up for this weekend. I'll have to look at my list. Every summer we make a list of fun things to do and see how many we can get done. Usually it's where we want to hike or favorite places to eat outdoors or other sightseeing and events. Around here is summer is short so we try to make the most of it.

The list is a great idea, money is so tight for me right now that my list would consist of whether i want to sit outside or inside my house lol cant afford to do the going out thing much these days.
I will be cooking a lot this next week i'm sure, kids will be home & have already put in their requests lol
I'd love to hike the Appalachian Trail one year.. over 2000 miles, 6 months.. I'd get sponsors possibly and do a photo book of the whole thing. Of course, I've been wanting to do this for several years and still haven't and now Misty says she doesn't want me gone that long [sigh]
I know someone who did the trail last year and didn't make the last 200 miles. That's the hardest part of the trail. There is such a book already, probably more than one. Oh yeah, you'd be going days, sometimes 5 days without a shower if water isn't available. Now that I wouldn't do and as much as I like hiking, I won't do the backpacking kind. Too much work. I don't think I could fit all my supplies on my back.

Well, hiking and biking don't cost much if anything depending on where you go. Don't forget there are lots of free things going on if you look around. Car shows, art fairs, festivals that are free or bands that are outdoors for free. Even if you can find companies that do tours for free like Miller or Sprecher or Jelly Belly for example. Even going to a park or a beach gets you out of the house. Half of the activities we do are freebies or cheapies. Look for deals online if museums or the like have coupons for certain days. Then there's botanical gardens and the Madison zoo is free.

I finally spoke with tamed this afternoon. She's FINE! Just busy with her garden/work, etc. Said she hasn't even been on the computer in quite some time. I was actually getting WORRIED! But all is well and she says HELLO!

Same ol' with me, busy summer with work. Weather has been hot but not as bad as June!
Just found out today that my son is moving back here from Nashville. He was down last week for an interview at a new Sushi Bar opening only 1 mile down the road from me......he got the job! We haven't lived near each other for over 10 years.
It should be opening in August. (he's a Sushi Chef btw)
It's on the soundside, not the beach itself, but great view of the intercoastal. It will be the only Sushi Restaurant here in this town, we need one! The fish will be FRESH!
Now we won't have to drive 30 miles either way to go into "town" to eat good sushi!
Of course, being a "Mom" (even though he's 31), I'll worry about it not going well, etc. I hate to see him move all the way here again and not have it work out.....keeping my fingers crossed!
I'll be his 1st customer I'm sure!
Well, back to invoicing/scheduling and all that fun "end of week" stuff.....work work work.
Cheers!

I've never tried sushi yet, believe it or not. I don't hear of too many people around here going out for it, but I know there are places that serve it. Some day I'll have to try it, just don't want to spend an arm and a leg for it and find out it's just ok.
Had a busy and fun-filled weekend. Friday we used a gift cert to go to a Mexican restaurant that we really like near us and I found my new favorite dish on their menu. It was called Arroz something something LOL and it was shrimp and scallops over rice with a Mexican cheese. The seasonings on it were delish and the portions were generous. After that we came home to sit on the deck with our mix drinks and beer.
Saturday we picked mulberries and started a new batch of homemade liquor. I'm also making lemon and lime flavors. I've got jars and bottles all over the place. Later we went to Gus's diner in Sun Prairie and then went to see 4 bands in Madison. Ran into a couple there that we recently met. 2 of the bands really stunk, but the other 2 were really good. There was a 5th band that we didn't stay for.
Sunday we went to Art Fair on the Square and then ate at Ella's Deli in Madison. We ran into a couple we know that used to live by us and now lives up by Green Bay. They had been at the zoo and stopped at Ella's after that. Didn't get to talk much since they were heading out. The best thing I saw at the art fair are these incredible sculptures that looked so real that I wanted to touch them to make sure. I kid you not, every bump, wrinkle and freckle painted on the life size human sculptures. The art was attracting a lot of attention. Check them out. Marc Sijon artwork

If you ever do try Sushi in a "land-locked" area, make sure it's a place that's BUSY and flies in their fish daily! And yes, that will make it expensive!
As with all "Sushi Virgins", start with rolls that have no raw fish and work your way up. Then advance to a Spicy tuna roll.....yum!
After you get your feet wet, expand to some mainstream things like yellowtail & tuna sashimi, try a "Rainbow" roll, which is a standard roll offering salmon, tuna, yellowtail, sometimes shrimp and crab.
If you ever see something called a Dragon Roll or Volcano Roll, trust me, just try it!
Most pl. start with a California Roll, a "beginner roll", if you will. Nothing RAW in that except the veggies.
The only land-locked area I ever ate sushi in was Nashville, and I trusted the restaurant.
I grew up eating it as my sister-in-law, who's Japanese, lived with us for many years, she MADE ME eat it before school, called it "brain food"! HA! I never actually went to a Sushi Bar until the 80's.
It's become such a fad.....which really isn't all that good, as so many places don't take the time & care preparing it. Not that big of a deal for the type of rolls that are not raw fish....but proper prep is the key, and of course, fresh fish.
We're lucky to be able to get fresh tuna, scallops, shrimp, etc. right off the boat here.
One of my customers went scalloping this weekend and gave me some fresh in the shell scallops! Ate them right out of the shell! YUM! Just squeeze some lime juice and Crystal Hot Sauce over them and GULP!
Our neighboring city, Destin, has a multitude of Sushi Bars, we have one favorite there. I will ask the owner "what's good today?" whn I walk in, the last time he nodded, went to the kitchen, came back and slapped a big ol' partial side of bloody tuna on the counter! ha ha ha! okee dokee then, I'll have some tuna sushimi please!
My son has been a sushi chef for about 10+ years now. He's also an art major, so his sushi shows that artistic side as well. Very talented.
Why do I feel like I just turned my "good morning" post into SUSHI 101? ha ha ha
So I will close with GOOD MORNING EVERYONE! I'm off to work!!!!!
Hope everyone has a good Monday!

With my foot issue i wont be hiking or biking anywhere, probably ever again.
I was referring more to your comment that you & your husband try all your favorite places to eat outdoors from your list. I'd love to try every restaurant that serves a good daiquiri myself lol maybe someday.

Thanks for the update Toes! we all know how life sometimes can get so busy that online is the last thing you have time for... i'm sure she will check in once she is in need of some down time
