Have no idea if it's true or not, but I always heard the worse thing you can do is step on a roach. It actually squeezes the eggs out of them, so while you think you have killed one, you actually help create many more. Anyone know if this is true or not?

I wouldn't think that was true.. could be, but I doubt it.

Anyone know if you can put a PATA hard drive in a SATA machine? Or is it two different animals? Ken, any idea??
Buying a Compaq Presario with a dead hard drive and I already have a 250gb PATA drive lying around that I was hoping to use.
The connections are different.
Most motherboards with SATA conectors still have one or two IDE or PATA connectors.
For the power supply you can get a converter to switch from SATA to the IDE power connector. Check the pictures below.
Thanks.. I saw in the BIOS there's a PATA controller enabled as well so it should work. Meanwhile, I think it might just be a corrupted boot sector on the old drive and am in the process of using CHKDSK to try and fix the problem..
Tried loading Windows 7.. get to the screen where it says Windows is starting services then it seems to hang. ould be because I'm trying to load it in only 512mb of RAM, dunno.
Gonna try to wipe the disk.. looking for a utility to do it.

Well to help us feel a bit cooler I just checked and it's been ranging around a sizzling 120 degrees in Iraq. Top that with sand storms and I think I can handle our 90 degree humid days here right now.

Good morning everyone! It was 98 here yesterday with a heat index of 105! The only time I ventured outside was to inspect the eaves troughs when they were done putting them up. It's supposed to be a repeat of yesterdays weather again today! I think maybe I should do my errands and shopping in town this morning before it gets too much hotter!
I finally finished pricing items for my yard sale last night. Well...the stuff that was on the front porch anyhow. The things in the basement will have to wait until next week. I have to start getting other things ready for my family reunion that is this weekend. The stuff in the basement is mostly bigger items so it will be easier and quicker to do them. I also have to find some strawberries yet so I can make some jam today or tomorrow. Maybe I'll check at one of the Amish farms later for some. Does anyone else here make any kind of jams or jellies?
Summers here can be pretty unbearable, sometimes reaching 115 degrees or so. And humid on top of that.

My son received some good news yesterday....he is getting a foreign exchange student as his college roommate for this fall. He had requested one because he got tired of having guys who drank and smoked the past two years. The new roommate is from Germany and is also majoring in Computer Science so they will have that in common.
The guy he roomed with last year would have his girlfriend stay in the tiny dorm room with him for a week at a time and he was a big underage drinker too! He even brought his own dorm refrigerator so he could keep his booze in it. My son really struggled with that since he is so against alcohol and drinking. He was so glad when school was done! Hopefully, this year will be better for him and his new roommate won't be a drinker.
Hubby and I picked strawberries this morning at Jelli's Market in Helenville. The berries are huge this year. We got done in half hour with 13 pounds. It wasn't too bad for being hot out. I didn't really mind it. We were in the car by 9:30 and headed home. We want to pick raspberries out there when those are ripe. My tiny freezer will be full and plus I have a ton of ice cream in mine on top of the berries. Usually about 6-10 containers at a time.
I found a recipe to make for banana split torte and then mixed up a batch of strawberry liqueur which is aging the basement for a month.
Fresh strawberries sure beat that hard flavorless ones in the grocery stores.
I finally got my portfolio online finished yesterday. It feels good to have that online. I'll probably add a project or 2 of my own to show more of what I can do. Most customers don't like to pay for the fancy stuff, so I'm doing it as personal projects. Next thing I'm going to do is set up a LinkedIn account and do some more networking.
Our local Aldi's had strawberries for 99 cents.. I always pick up a couple containers at that price but they don't last long..
I'm thinking Misty will be getting an apartment out here Friday.. always alot of people moving out toward the end of the month. She'll be living on the next street over from me but you can see her apartment from mine.

Meanwhile, morning, all!
Here's the system requirements for Windows 7:
Official Release Candidate Windows 7:
1 GHz or faster 32-bit (x86) or 64-bit (x64) processor
1 GB of RAM (32-bit)/2 GB of RAM (64-bit)
16 GB of available disk space (32-bit)/20 GB (64-bit)
DirectX 9 graphics device with Windows Display Driver Model 1.0 or higher driver
P.S. I use WipeDrive Pro, works good but not free. I did come across free software before but not sure where I seen it now.

When we lived in Dousman, we used to pick strawberries at a farm near Oconomowoc. I don't remember the name of the place but they had the best tasting berries there!
I did manage to get my jam all made yesterday. When I ran out of Sure Jell and sugar, I sent the last two quarts of berries over to my neighbor across the street (I kept one other for shortcake). I wonder what kind of goodies she will reciprocate with? Last time she brought over banana bread and canned beef.
