Grr.. upstairs neighbor has tons of roaches and they're beginning to trickle into the other apartments.. gonna have to spray in here today and see what I can do. Just killed one and where there's one there's more..
Gotta go get dish soap, greens for the bird.. dreading it in this heat.
Dave or Ken...or anyone else who has great rummage sale experience.
What should I sell a set of Currier & Ives dishes for? There are 8 10" dinner plates, 8 saucers, 8 berry bowls and 7 cups. I bought them about 9 years ago at a relatives auction. I don't want to ask too little or too much and since y'all go to sales a lot, I am seeking your expert advise.

I would say there are LOTS more and they are going to keep coming in as long as other people still have them. My sister lives in a really nice neighborhood but had some really dirty renters across the street from her who had cockroaches. When they were evicted, all the cockroaches migrated to the surrounding houses. Everyone had to hire an exterminator but since the landlord of the rental property didn't have his house sprayed, more bugs went to the surrounding homes again. The city finally had to make him hire an exterminator and then he not only had to pay for his property to get sprayed, but he had to pay for the surrounding homes to be done the second time. That finally took care of the nasty little things!
I sprayed today and then went swimming with Misty for a couple hours at some waterfalls in nearby Joplin.
It was so weird.. she had her husband drop her off at my place so he could use the van while he spent time with the kids for Father's Day..
Meanwhile, my regular computer is currently in pieces in the bedroom and I'm posting this on the Netbook.. took the computer back out of the living room and still haven't had time to set it up again. Hope to get it back together in the morning.

Latina, I remember feeling like I'd been set adrift when my boys left home. My whole life was centered around them and their activities...from what time I got up in the morning to what I'd make for dinner. And all of a sudden that focus was gone. I missed them terribly. My husband and I were just learning to enjoy our freedom when we got the father-in-law!
I am getting use to it, i think... I actually enjoyed this weekend, so i'm getting there!
My son came home last night & spent the night, he has appointments with his doctors today & will head back out after that, so i may not see him before he goes, was good to have him home for a night.

Will be back this afternoon to work and such.. putting the desktop back together at the moment. I hate untangling all the wires and then trying to remember what power supply goes with what. I need to mark them in some way.
lol not sure how cute it is but when I take off all the wires on my tower I just tie a sock around them to keep them from going all over the place. Keeps them in one place, no tangles and then it's so much easier to manage them when I put them back on.
Ours is color coordinated too which helps me. I wouldn't have a clue if I didn't have the rectangle purple thing that goes into the purple rectangle hole. lol

I never had them until recently. Upstairs neighbor is infested with them.
Many many years ago we lived in a townhouse for a short while. The neighbors next to us was really nasty. Heard they never took their dog outside...when I heard that I said, 'what dog'? I never knew they had a dog. Guess I had my answer as to why I never saw it, they never took it out. eck.
But the bugs in their place I guess was terrible. We had orkin coming once a month of which I had my things on trays in the cabinets so I could just pull them out each time so he could really spray all cracks etc. Most of our things was in storage at the time so we didn't have much either so that helped. So for the longest time we didn't have a problem, thanks to the Orkin Man. But the neighbors never would let them in their apartment when they came around. The landlord could care less so they got away with not doing anything about their mess.
Anyways, I remember they finally got the people to move out and the orkin guys had to go in the apartment. They put on suits and masks and came running out of the place. Said they could not believe the nasty place. Guess they had tons of old newspapers in the basement on the floor that was piled up and the dog actually lived on them. The bugs all over made the walls look like they were moving. ahhhh...how gross.
We actually never had any bugs in our place even though we lived right next door until they sprayed the place and they scattered all through the building running out of that place. That was one of many reasons why we moved not long after that.
Oh did I mention that they actually had 2 small kids and the dad was head of an Awana Church Group and I think the mom was a Sunday school teacher or something like that. Goes to show you really don't know someone just because they go to Church.

Yuck I don't know how people can live like that. I've heard some nasty stories, but how do people let their animals crap all over the house? No going barefoot there ewwwwwwwww!
Maybe we need to add these to "things that gross you out" thread.
I really have been out of glassware and china for so long I really couldn't say but I always suggest your best bet is to check the completed auctions on eBay for similar items..

He does have a forum site for rummages i believe.
Finally got my desktop set back up.. have been over at www.wismusic.com so far this afternoon.. plan to update here for a bit, then over to www.webloggers.org then take a break for dinner, etc. when Misty comes over with the kids at 4.
Here's a video of Krystal, Eli, and Misty on the playground at the apartments here:
Not even 9am and already 80 degrees here with a high of 94 expected today.
Morning, all!
I haven't had a lot of time to read too much, but saw this! You are almost as hot as we are here in NW FL! Been hitting the "over 100" mark w/heat indexes in the low teens, as in 113, etc.
It's unbearable walking dogs in this heat.
My friend from WI. flew down this last Fri-Mon. After I picked her up at the airport Fri. afternoon we came home to a house without electricity! There was a widespread blackout across Navarre and Navarre Beach.
I had NO A/C until Sat. morning! It was an inferno in here!
Welcome to Florida my friend!
(a bad car wreck 2 blocks from my house took out a couple main grids. Many got electricity back after a couple hours, but my little 'hood stayed black for over 15 hours)
I lost a lot of freezer food, water on the floors from that too.....the only GOOD thing was, it forced me to go through my hurricane kits and realize I need more batteries, etc.
Thank goodness I have a gas STOVE, we had went to the fish market and bought a boatload of shrimp! We dined by candlelight!
And of course, I am exhausted from having "company".......and working at the same time.
Well, back to it.......1st I will take cold shower #2 of the morning!
Most of my clients have pools, so I think I'll wear my swim suit today!
Ya'll stay cool up there!

So what KIND of roaches do you get up there? I never saw a Roach until I moved to Nashville back in the 80's.....my 1st condo. They sprayed every month, so once I moved in, didn't see any. (they were the little brown roaches)
And then I moved to Florida in 1995! YEE HAW! Ride 'em Cowboy roaches! ha ha ha! Seriously.....you can rope 'em here! And it doesn't matter if you are pristine-clean in your housekeeping or not........I get sprayed, plus I put out the JUMBO size traps for them and replace every 3 months. Saw one the other day when I had a client come over and look at a bird cage I have for sale in the garage. We moved the cage and this gigantic roach just saunters out and casually walks across the floor in front of us! (I think he had some poison for breakfast) I swear, he was almost 4" long! I helped him get to Roach Heaven.
I left too many boxes in the garage since I moved, and things need to be moved out of that "flood zone" for Hurricane Season, yet I am afraid to open boxes now!! Don't want the big critters actually up INSIDE the house!
Nasty they are! And SMELL when you crunch them too! YUCK!

They will be hiding inside those boxes. Have the bug spray on hand.
You need to buy one of those racquet zappers and have a little fun killing them. My husband loves to swat at flies and hornets with that thing. Zaaaap! Sometimes it even sparks lol.
