Evening all. I've been spending mornings outside so I haven't done my daily check in for a couple days...decided that the vegatable garden wasn't enough--started a flower garden, too. It's just a tiny perennial garden with 20 or so plants, but wow, that's a lot of work (and money). That's the last of my gardening efforts for this year. Except for upkeep.
PK, hope your son had a happy birthday.
Latina, how is it to have your house to yourself?
Dave, don't worry about the age thing. My husband is 11 years older than I am and we are perfectly suited for each other. And my uncle married a woman 20-some years younger than him; they have 2 children and are quite happy--they've been married for almost 20 years now. Almost forgot this one...my grandfather was 24 years older than my grandmother. (Maybe it does run in families!) Not saying that you and your current companion have to get serious, but just that it can work. Depends on the people involved. More important than age is compatibility.
Cindy, nice to hear that your roof turned out well.
I too have been missing in action. Been so busy with work.......but it slows down by Friday evening. (I posted on my website that I was sold out THROUGH Sunday, I lied) My way of getting a slow weekend.
I have another friend from Wisconsin flying in Friday afternoon! Tamed knows her.....we haven't seen each other since 2000. Only staying until Monday. But we will have time to sit on the beach and kayak and just do NOTHING.
My favorite thing.
Heat index AGAIN, been over a week now at 105 or so. Been in the 90's and 139% humidity. Oh yeah, it's F-L-O-R-I-D-A. I do hate summer here.......June-Sept is like this and of course, been a nervous wreck about hurricanes.
When I win the lotto................I'm building a house on Lake Noquebay in Crivitz and staying there in the summer!
Of course, I could just walk across the street right now and jump in the water, but I'm too tired.
I have tomatoes! A couple finally got ripe, my jalepenos are breeding like crazy, been picking a lot of them and my Cayenne peppers are going nuts. Lots of herbs, tons of basil.......too much mint.....and all are from pots on my porch. Good grief.
I have a feeling I'll be canning Pepper Jelly this year.
Well, time to set the alarm and go to bed, 4am comes early!
Good luck with your garden tamed!!! You are going to LOVE that Thai Basil btw!
Hope everyone is doing alright, my "catching up" on ya'll has been haphazard with my schedule. So sorry. :[

All yards cost money, that's the problem. I have a garage full of fertilizers, bug killers and other things to help my plants. That doesn't include the price of the plants and trees. I don't even know how many flowers I have, but I know it's a lot more than 20. Only veggies I have right now are some peppers in a pot (more on that later) and something odd I picked up called an oyster plant. Supposedly you can eat the roots and cook them up like potatoes or use in soup.

Blue, did you get your resume on line?
It wasn't my resume, that would be easy and it's floating around on a few job sites, but only where I've applied for jobs and had to put one on. I'm not going to waste my time posting it on every job site since all the offers I ever get is some crappy job for something unrelated that no one else wants either. Tried it before and it's pretty much a waste of time. I was working on my portfolio and I'm only about 1/3 of the way done. It takes a while to get it all put together and uploaded one piece at a time and then fill in all the descriptions, write a bio and what not.

Wait until you see the peppers I'm growing this year. I won't describe them, you'll have to look it up yourself. They are called peter peppers and they should be quite the conversation piece if they grow like in the pictures. You can eat them, too. Not sure what I'll use them for since they are hot. Maybe look into pickled pepper slices if I get a lot, otherwise just for salsa or chili.
It's very quiet, but i'll get use to it I suppose.
My son will be here Sunday evening & stay till Monday. He has a doctor appt Monday early morning & will head back to West Bend after that.
I miss having my babies home, but everyone keeps telling me to be glad I had them young & i'm young enough to truly enjoy this... I say what's to enjoy? maybe there's some fun in this that I have yet to discover lol
Misty and her kids came over tonight.. she cooked dinner for all of us again.. The kids did not want to go back home and wanted to stay here tonight.. the one daughter is all excited because I'm going with them to her dentist appt. in the morning.

I love hot peppers, well, ALL peppers in general, and I planted the Jalepeno's for Sig-other. He is a jalepeno nut. Eats fresh ones on everything. They're not "regular" ones though, they're called "Golieth", and rightly so! Hot, but not overly so, and HUGE! Prolific as well. The cayenne plant was unintended, even though I will use them now, and dry the rest (there are 100's of them already), someone swapped the labels in the pots before I bought it, thought I was getting a basic sweet banana pepper. Never heard of Peter Peppers! Will you pick a peck?
I try to plant things I can't find in the store......although I went ahead with 3 tomato plants because they are so good when fresh picked. There's an old man up the street from me that grows 100's of Tomato Plants and sells them from his little house......has some interesting varieties of Heirlooms.
I would LOVE to have a garden here, but it's much more work, had one when I lived in the 1st house I bought when I moved here. Our soil is well......sandy to say the least, ha! So you have to build raised beds and buy soil/compost, etc. to make your own soil basically. I had a good compost pile going and my garden was in it's 3rd year when I sold the house. The lady that bought it asked me what that "bin" was in the back of my yard......she was not interested, I think my garden was the 1st to go! I regret not taking my roses when I moved, she got rid of those right away. Sad.
I wanted to plant more herbs....but then I kept thinking about all the pots I will have to drag into the house whenever we get a hurricane/tropical storm warning, and thought.....NAH!
I already have about 10 huge pots now.....
I love fresh mint, I have some Lemon Balm and Pineapple Sage, all grown for tea. Yummy.
3 different types of basil this year, so I'll be making lots of pesto.
I just looked at the clock, I have to go to work! YIKES!!!!!
Hope ya'll have a great day and enjoy your weather up there, you don't want to be in Florida right now!
I just heard the weatherman say on the news "Get used to TRIPLE digits".........oh my!

Ok, I need to hear a story about someone where the woman was a lot older. Just wondering if anyone knows someone like that.
My mom was 50 when she left my dad for a 25 yr old, who was a friend of mine at the time... not a good situation, but the age difference seemed to work for them. She is now almost 69 & her current boyfriend is 50 or 51 & they been together for 12 yrs.
I gave that up years ago..........
But it was fun.
I agree.. it's fun, but i can't really go that much younger when i have a kid that's almost 21, i feel wrong if he's closer to her age than mine, but sure is nice to know you still got 'it' when them youngins hit on you lol
I have had these 24-26 yr olds who say 'age don't matter' & if they weren't so close to my kids age, i might agree though 10-12 yrs age difference is too much for me & probably wouldn't make a diffrence... i've gone 7 yrs younger, back in the day & honestly he was the most mature man i've ever dated.
Morning toes, Nice to see you this morning. Glad we don't have your HOT weather here!
We just planted some tomato plants that I think are quite different. A couple are 'pink' tomatoes (low in acid) and one plant will produce 'ugly' tomatoes. lol Interesting to see how they come out.

You'll have to look up the picture of those. Then the name will make sense. Not posting the picture here, because you just have to see why. I'm growing them for fun, but will eat them if I have them. When I bought the seeds, the description said something about making the little old ladies blush. Let's just say mother nature sure has a sense of humor.
I tried to grow them last year, but first we had too much rain, then it was too dry. I got some sprouts, but something ate them. Maybe the cutworms chopped them off. Were too small for a rabbit to find them yet. This year I tried a pot and so far, so good.

If they come out in funny shapes, you'll have to take pictures. Freak veggies can be funny.

I want some!!! ha ha ha ha ha ha ha.
I highly recommend that every female on this forum (and some guys if "so inclined") Google:
"Peter Peppers".
You just made my night, I am laughing my arse off after a long hot day........

I love the "Ugly" tomatoes, and just about any other heirloom. This guy up the road from me grows "zebras" and then some that are purple too. You have to get to him EARLY in the morning though! He just set out his "TOMATO" sign.....better stop this weeked!
All I am getting so far are those 1st sets of "OK" tomatoes......but the plants are LOADED with more. Has anyone else noticed the first few that get ripe are kind of wimpy? Sort of like teasing us......
Well, I am getting a cocktail, NOT a glass of wine......it's a COCKTAIL night tonight. Good grief, 106 heat index today. I'm melting like the wicked witch..............

lmao, I told you they would be funny. The image search on google is even better. I hope I get some odd shaped peppers.
Does this mean you are getting some of these peppers now? I can see it, she'll be inviting everyone to come over and look at her funny looking peppers.
I'm meeting friends after work for dinner & to decide what we would like to do tonight... maybe play some cards & drink a few @ my place, since they all still have kids at home & it's their time away from home more so than mine or we may just go out, it's up in the air at this point.
Oh we had some wicked storms rush through here last night. I just fell asleep before they started and my oldest daughter called and woke me saying she could hear the sirens going. They stopped right away and we could not find any warnings on the net for tornadoes but did have sever thunderstorm warnings. Could not believe the amount of lightening out there. Just one after another lightening up the night sky.
We have a pear tree that is scheduled to be cut down today it seems it is rotting inside and I kept worrying it was going to come down on the house and cars/van. But we all made it through ok.
I'm thinking now that I would have gotten some awesome lightening action pics if I had thought about it. lol I don't think much when I am first woke up in the middle of the night tho. lol
Suppose to have heavy storms today too. Hope the tree guy has enough time to come and take this tree down in between the rain.
Well hope everyone has a great day.

My dingy husband left his book outside last night in all that rain. I was trying to dry it out between towels and then laid a heavy appliance on top of it for weight to keep it from getting all warped.
I had trouble going to sleep last night from all that rain. It went on for several hours. Lots of noise outside and the lightening. I ended up hanging blankets over the top of the curtains to keep out the lightening flashing.
