Stopped in at the thrift store on my way down to the bank to make a deposit and picked up a box of stuff for $22, including 7 pieces I wanted..it was a pain in the a** carrying the stuff back but I had several newer American Indian related pieces I knew one of my neighbors would be interested in.
I ended up keeping the 7 items I wanted and sold the rest for $40 (so I almost doubled my money in less than an hour). Of the 7 pieces I kept, one was an old Carthage souvenir plate my other neighbor offered me $50 for so there's some extra cash if I ever need it.
The pic is one of the bisque Indian figures I kept for myself.
The guardian angel in the pic has fiber optics in the wings so it lights up, plus there are thinner portions of the figure and scenery that also light up and glow. I paid $3.50 for that.
The eagle is bisque and I actually got two of the Indian angel.. one was $1, the other was 25 cents because one of the feathers on the headband was chipped.
Oh yeah forget to mention we caught a mouse in a bag of cheese popcorn, my kids want me to let it go in my shed so it can keep dry cause of rain today. My oldest is twelve, he could have easily killed it, but he couldn't.
Where did you catch this mouse?? Was it caught on purpose or did it catch you by surprise by ending up in the bag unexpectedly? I would have freaked out! lol Mice & i do NOT get along at all... I will admit i show no mercy for them & he'd be dead if it were me. I'm a chicken.
Latina....you would have freaked out if you would have seen the WATER RAT I saw a couple days ago in my yard! Swamp rats.....water rats.....whatever, different names for them. A NYC Rat on steroids really! Sort of like Possums, but they come out during the daytime from the swamp. My (hillbilly) neighbors, as the rest of us call them, who moved after the last hurricane......well, they just MOVED, w/o doing any cleanup of hurricane debris. So the rats moved into a storage shed of theirs. Thanks a lot! grrrrrr.......Numerous attempts of reporting them have not helped. (long story)
They have the lot up for sale still, in 2005 it was listed at $725,000 (1 1/4 acre "waterview") now it's reduced to $225,000. Not a bite, best lot in our neighborhood too. WAY overpriced. They actually turned down a $675,000 offer for it 1 month after they listed it in 2005. Idiots.
Sometimes Sig-other says he may just call them and put an offer on it, just so we can trespass legally and destroy that shed and clean the lot! Then re-list it a few years from now!
Anyway, after wandering off on that tangent........HELLO EVERYONE!
With my honey-bunny home I haven't been online much. He's busy playing with his Nintendo? X-Box? Whatever it is, like a 12 year old. So I can actually catch up online.
Then Shrimp Fajitas for dinner! He has to catch up on all of his seafood after being gone so long. I am WAY over that......I could eat a bowl of peas and feel fine to be honest with ya'll.
I feel bad for my neighbors across the street, they spent a ton of money and time, dragged their boat to Alabama to fish for a week, didn't really catch anything, got home last night and found out that most of the other neighbors have been fishing off their docks here and bringing in a ton of Flounder, Redfish and Speckled Trout. Ooops.
This is the same neighbor who spent 2 weeks in Arkansas chasing Wild Boar and didn't get one, and then came home and found out that my DOG sniffed one out of the swamp next door......it had died of natural causes and weighed in at over 400#! Vincent, my dog, found him, freshly dead. Took 6 guys, a crane and an F350 truck to haul that bad boy away.
See? Here I go on a tangent again! This is what happens when I don't go online very much for a few days.......too many words and stories stored up in my brain.
We had some horrible storms roll through today, winding down now. Tomorrow we go KAYAK shopping! Yippee!!!!! I just use my neighbor's kayaks now, but I want a Sea Kayak that's equipped for fishing. I want a purple one, but they don't make purple. May have to settle for yellow or blue.
And tomorrow will also be SUSHI NIGHT in Destin! A tradition for us when he is home. Yummo!
(seaweed salad for me too!) HA!
Ya'll have a good night.......time for me to spoil the Sig-other with some yummy fajitas!

You should catch those rats and put a leash on them. I bet you could sell them to someone farther north that wanted an unusual pet.

Oh, you can send all your seafood this way...except for the raw oysters. I suppose I could steam those if I had to.

I'd freak, i'd move! Not even warm weather would keep me there lol no way no how!

ha ha ha! well, it's all relative, ya know.
All of my life I have been petrified of snakes. Not anymore.....I don't LIKE them by any means, but you get "used" to them to a degree. Rodents have never bothered me at all, so that's no biggie.
Yes, the snake thing......we have 'em. Especially where I live. I just have to constantly be on the lookout for them when I am walking around. Usually they scatter when they hear your footsteps. But lately, as the weather is warming, they are coming out of hiding. Some are harmless and helpful (they eat the rats), but we do have many BAD bad ones here. The Water Moccasian (Cottonmouth) is prevelant right here, I mean HERE.......where I live. They are all over the place. Fiesty critters. They get very big too. I have seen several so far this spring. So far, none in my garage, or in the yard. When I had about 6-7 volunteer deputies from another part of FL here right after Ivan helping me shovel sludge out of my destroyed house, I warned them about the snakes. One of the guys (Mr Macho Burly Cop) came running screaming out of a "bedroom" yelling SNAKE!!!! I went into the "room" and there was a very PO'd Cottonmouth in strike position. I just walked over and chopped it's head off with my shovel and walked away laughing. The rest of the cops really gave this guy a hard time. One of them said "he's from Minnesota". ha ha ha ha
I've killed a few. Then I do my "snake dance". eeeeewwwwwww!!!!!
We also get The Eastern Diamondback and Coral Snake. bad bad bad.
And alligators. And sharks, lots of sharks. The Bull Shark loves this area. Oh yea....Man Of War, Jellyfish, Lovebugs (sort of like lake flies but bigger and messier)......cute little Armadillos.....
But the beaches are great! And the weather is nice! NO SNOW!
(this is how we get ppl. NOT to move here and make it too crowded, tell critter stories)

When we were down last year we saw tons of jellyfish. All kind of baby ones floating on the water by the hundreds. No, we didn't go wading that part of the ocean. That was somewhere around Perdido area.
Sure you don't Blue; I wish I had a boatload of money to bet on that one.
She's home now, I couldn't find the dang Christmas lights!
I would've found out how many I could get in there, and how long it would take before they all glowed?
Why is my nose growing?
I don't know; can't see your nose from here!!!

Sneaky Sneaky lol
We have nasty bugs & snakes in Texas too! Some of the nastiest bugs and rodents i ever have seen was in Texas & when i moved back there in 1999 it wasn't long before i was reminded of those ugly little things, i hated it! Like you said, good to visit, but not moving back there again ick.
Well, really, you're not going to see snakes on the BEACH....so visiting here is no big deal. And the Gulf Of Mexico? Well, you just have to be informed and aware that you are in THEIR HOME when you enter.....as far as sharks, jellies, etc.
We just had a week or so of Man-of-Wars on the beach. (think Jelly Fish but GIGANTIC!) Finally we got some Northerly winds that pushed them back out to sea. I had one encounter when I 1st moved here, in the hospital overnight. Ouch. I swam backwards into one that wrapped itself around my whole body.
And another "backwards" move I made once, not watching where I was going.......I fell OVER a Mama Bull Shark who had her new baby in tow......she turned and snapped at me. I literally walked on water and hit the beach! I have been bitten once, but that was down in the Keys. My snorkel fin took most of the bite, but my foot got some teeth too!
Palmetto Bugs are everywhere here too. They are big and nasty. They stink when you kill them too. I poured a glass of red wine once and set it on the table outside.....came back out and took a swig.......OMG! A Palmetto Bug committed suicide in my wine. Couldn't get that taste out of my mouth for a long time. BLECH!
Speaking of breakfast........
How about some Mexican shrimp omelettes? I have leftovers from last night.

You've convinced me NOT to want to move there! I thought the wolf spiders were bad here, but they are nothing compared to the critters you have there! Ewwww!
Did anyone get any snow yesterday? We ran into some on the way to UW-Platteville and it was enough to cover the fields but luckily the roads didn't get slippery. My mom said they got a half inch of snow in Fennimore! I'm sure it will all melt today though...and it's supposed to be in the upper 60's here by Thursday! Yay!

No, not any snow here. Isn't it getting a bit late in the year for snow? Come on spring, get here already and stay here.

oh, I dunno. I think the hurricanes and the old fat guys in Speedos would scare me more.
Critters you can usually deal with if you know what to expect from them. You have to know their behaviors and where they hang out. It's a matter of being careful around them. In other words, don't make them angry hahahaha! (I'm not talking about wolf spiders either, which I'm guessing you mean grass spiders. Similar in looks, but wolfies don't make webs.)

I can only guess where they'd be hanging out at! LOL

eeew even a sexy man in a speedo is fugly, that might scare me away as much as the rats lol
Funny how i dislike mice oh so much, however i was up to my eyeballs in dead mice an hour ago... Luckily it's not something i have to do & can opt out of at my job, but i needed a job done now & done right, so i dove into the dead mice to complete my study ick ick... usually even with them being dead i walk away... ok ok i run away lol
Had to go to the post office to mail a letter and stopped in to a couple of the antique "malls" while I was on the Square.. bought a jar of peewee catseye marbles for $15.. then bought two framed prints, one for $15 and one for $18.
One of the prints is a signed carborundum etching by Roy Tonkin. Depending on who's selling, his prints range from $100-$800.
Haven't identified the other print yet. Looks like it's signed Nixon.

That reminded me of a story. When I used to work in a factory my former boss found a dried up dead mouse. He went over to the production line and taped it on the back of a part. He waited for one of the girls that was inspecting to take the part off the line. She took the part off and then turned it over. It surprised her so much she ended up throwing in on the floor. Of course we knew it was coming and we all laughed.
