If you were native born, what has kept you here? Generations of family? Job? Just love it here and have no desire to move?
just wondering.

I'm here for good. And I hope that I'm good for here.
Born in Oconomowoc. Love hearing people from out of state try to say that one! Live in Menomonee Falls, right next to Sussex, Lisbon and Lannon for twenty years now, all in one home.
I do daydream sometimes of being a snowbird. The thought of spending a good part of January and all of February in Vegas or the Keys... I love Wisconsin but that time of year I think I'm a little cabin-feverish.
My family's been here for 3 generations (me, parents, grandparents), 4 with my kids. Great-grandparents, 4th generation back from me, were actually west of here, Twin Cities and South Dakota.
Because I lived in an unreal number of places throughout SE Wisconsin by the time I got to High School, I'm all for roots. That's part of what keeps me where I am. Building community, knowing a lot of people, those are important to me, too.
I might like to move to a more rural part of Wisconsin one day, or at least have some land to hunt and fish, maybe put up a cabin or trailer, and get to know the place over time before settling in, rather than an abrupt shift at retirement (if that ever happens!). Of course, wherever I end up in Wisconsin, I'll likely have an old friend or two there...from here. And a lot of old friends still with me...from here. At least I like to think so.
Regards,
Keith
