Helicoptor Crash's into House ~ Kenosha Breaking News

Is anyone else seeing this on the news this morning? A helecoptor has crashed into a house in Kenosha...happened around 5:30 this morning.

The pictures they are showing are unreal. I'm not finding anything yet on the internet...guess it's just too knew of Breaking News

The 2 on the helicopter have died, the 5 people in the house are ok

Some fog was reported in the area at the time and the crash occurred near an airport but the cause of the crash has not been determined. Police had no immediate information on the ownership of the helicopter.

Can you imagine waking up to a helicopter crashing thru the roof of your house?! The people inside are so lucky to be ok...it didn't crash thru were they were sleepig!!

Kenosha police Sgt. Eric Larsen says in a news release that the helicopter crashed through the roof of the house at about 5:30 a.m. Sunday.

The helicopter is registered to Midwestern Air Services of Kenosha. That's a helicopter charter company that operates from the Kenosha Airport.

Thanks for the heads up on what's going on here in our city Carol. I am usually on top of what is going on but totally did not catch this one until I read it on the bubbler!

The crash was reported just after 5:30 a.m. at 6934 97th Avenue. This is West and South from us. Closer to the White Caps Subdivision I think.

I'll try to find out more and post it.

The house looks to be in bad shape. They did say everyone in the house is ok though.

This news article tells an informative story on the crash. It is just by a miracle that the family was not injured. It's sad that the two in the copter did not have a chance though.

Update: Early Sunday morning helicopter crash took the lives of the two on board, 54-year-old Alan Sapko, a Sturtevant WI businessman, and 45-year-old Joan Anzalone.

Update: The pilot of a helicopter that crashed into a Kenosha house, was certified as a pilot in 2006, a Federal Aviation Administration spokesman said Monday.

Commercial certification requires:

Current FAA medical certificate
Current private pilot helicopter certificate
Minimum age of 18 years old
Minimum 100 hours of "Pilot in Command" (PIC) flight time, including at least 35 hours PIC in a helicopter
Minimum 150 hours flight time
Must read, write, understand, and speak English
Pass an oral and practical FAA flight test
Pass a FAA written commercial knowledge exam

That's not much time to become certified. For private pilots the requirement is only 10 hours!
