Anyhow, I was just sent this email and thought I would pass it on:

Hello All,

The Lincoln County Humane Society is at risk for shutting down next week because there are no funds available. All the animals
will either be placed at a different shelter and if that cannot happen these poor things will be euthinized. They are desperately
in need for emergency funds. If you would like to donate I am taking a collection to be given to them this Saturday. I know it is
short notice but they need the donations fast. If you would like to donate please have funds to me by Friday May 16th 5:00 PM.

Checks can be made out to Lincoln County Human Society.

Please help keep this shelter alive along with the animals inside.

Attached word doc are the dogs for adoption and there are too many cats to list. Take a look at Lincoln County Humane Society

So please, copy and paste this at any site you are a member of. I know first hand how much this Humane Society is struggling as I live in the same city as it. I knew they were in major financial problems, but didn't know it was this bad. They are a no kill shelter and have been trying very hard to save the lives of innocent animals. Thanks for reading.

Glad it isn't my tax money for that shelter. TOo bad they dont pull the pin on the one in marathon county."


Man, I sure am embarrassed to live in a surrounding area as people like this.

According to the news if additional funds don't become available and the Humane Society gets turned over to the County the humane society could end up being a pound where animals are only held for seven days and then are often euthanized. They have added a PayPal link to their site and asking others to please donate even if it is only a dollar.

That quote made me angry too. What a moron. People don't realize the expenses shelters and rescues face. Beyond normal food, housing and vet care, shelters often receive animals with health problems that require extensive medication or surgery. They also have to pay for their facility, utilities and staff.

We've adopted shelter cats and taken in strays. Dollar for dollar, adopting a shelter cat was much cheaper than starting from scratch. The shelter cats came neutered with initial shots. This is why we contribute to shelters... we want other pets to have the same chance at a loving home.

This Humane Society has had it share of bad luck and trying situations:

For such a small facility they do the best they can with what they have. My heart and soul goes out to the wonderful people that donate their time and money to help places like this because it sure can't be easy. Previous runners of the society could never explain where all the money was disappearing to. So the animals now suffer. Under all new management who is trying so hard to save these lives now face the uncertainty of what will happen to all these creatures. Please, if you can't donate, keep them in your prayers.

I am sure glad that people from my community are stepping up to the plate to help out the Humane Society to keep their doors open. As we all know on here I am a BIG animal lover at heart no matter what the animal is. But on the other hand it is kind of a kick in the teeth to me to see these same businesses helping out one cause but mine got totally ignored from the same community of people.

It just makes me wonder if my rescue is even worth it as others sure don't feel like it is. I wanted to help the Humane Society by putting their issues on this site as everyone on here has been so supportive to me. I put my own problems and needs aside in hopes that others will help them. It took me over a month to raise $1100 to save my power for one month. They got over $13000 in 5 days. People believe more in that cats and dogs are worth their time as fish are non existant. So if anyone on here helped them out, I sure am glad as they have been struggling for a long time with this. I hope they can pull through.
