Froedtert Hospital in Danger?
The joint operating agreement between Columbia St. Mary's and Froedtert has me worried. I am not employed in the health care industry but have experience of both hospitals via friends and family. Froedtert as a teaching hospital connected to the Medical College of Wisc is outstanding. They have a true team based approach that puts the patient first in spite of the current disincentives in the health care industry. Will this quality take a hit now or will some of the magic rub off on Columbia? I think most likely the former. But I am still recommending to friends and family that if they know anyone seriously injured to get them to Froedtert ASAP. They saved my brother after another hospital almost killed him.

Re: Froedtert Hospital in Danger?
After I went through a below elbow amputation of my left arm from a work accident, I went there briefly for counseling. I loved the atmosphere but did not like the traveling (3.5 hours for 1 hour of service).

Re: Froedtert Hospital in Danger?
The Zablocki VA Medical Center is staffed by Froedtert medical personnel. I always receive top notch service from the doctors and nurses. The students from Froedtert are young and bright, and very enthusiastic when it comes to treating my particular condition.
I certainly wouldn't want to see them go away!

3.5 hour drive!! That's horrible...... I was just complaining about the 45 min drive to have the boy's chains tightened on his braces. A whole 5 min visit if that.

Re: Froedtert Hospital in Danger?
The time it takes to travel to places is weighted down by the quality of service you recieve and you may later regret.

Re: Froedtert Hospital in Danger?
I have worked in the medical field for the last 15 years and can say that both hospitals have great people working at them. I've not worked for either of the hospitals as a hospital employee. I have done work for them (outside contractor kind of thing) and know that the nurses (I don't work much with the Docs) are awesome people and care very much about the patients. I see this as a plus not as a bad thing.
