Kenosha man in Costa Rica
Hello everyone, been a little while but i´m back, some of you were wondering how it was to be in Costa Rica after living 36 years in Kenosha, Wisconsin. Well things I do have to admit a re very beautiful here, there are so many things to do it unbelieveable. I do miss kenosha, I consider it my home for always. I miss the snow as I had mentioned before, close to christmas and still cannot get use to the palm trees with christmas lights, something is wrong with this picture. Let me know what you think of all this and here are some pictures of Coista Rica at christmas and some pictures of me and my wife at the waterfall used at the start of jurassic park 1 and pictures, even though they arent very clear , of the volcano poas, the worlds 2nd largest crater. Enjoy!!! Also some images of my wife in front of the church in Cartago where the Virgin way seen and is blessed by holy waters...

Re: Kenosha man in Costa Rica
Beautiful pictures you make it look like a long term vacation package. lol
I'm sure pictures of Kenosha dumped with snow right now would not be as appealing lol. I know we certainly have no worries of not having a white Christmas this year. We have been getting snow quite often this year.
I'm not sure how long you have been away from Kenohsa so not sure how much you have missed in growth. I can say that Kenosha has been expanding rapidly lately and many new projects are being worked on. Again, depending on how long you have been away but the last few years our lake front has turned into a very beautiful area. We now have several new museums and many new condos by the marina. A Civil War Museum will be opening soon. The down town area is starting to come back to life again.
A new Super Walmart is in the works...we have every store you can think of now.
The outlet center on the west side of 94 and hwy 50 has been torn down and an Ashley Furniture store is in it's place. The East side Prime outlets have grown quite large with new additions and quite busy now.
The famous Spot hamburgers are still open in the orginal location but the newer on the North side closed. Didn't matter it never could quite catch on since it just did not have the same appeal as the orginal place. Since the owner's son has taken over though the prices keep going up and up.
We have a new Red Robins that I just went to for the first time a few weeks ago...good hamburgers.
Let me know some of the places you use to visit and miss the most and I'll let you know if they are still around.

Re: Kenosha man in Costa Rica
You never know what Wisconsin is going to give you for weather! I just read that we may get up to 41 degrees on Saturday so the snow they predicted will now be rain. I suppose that will mean it will all turn to ice over the night and be a big mess on Sunday.

Re: Kenosha man in Costa Rica
thank you guys for the posts. I use to live in kenosha on 54th ave and 70th street. Real close to target and Applebees. man i miss applebees. The last time I was in Kenosha was 2 years ago . I cam edown to costa rica to take care of my father whom was sick with stomach cancer and whom passed away on sept. 6th exactly 1 year ago. I met my wife at his funeral.
PK - I do miss the SPOT i use to always go to the one on hwy 50, sometimes the one on the north side, but only if the hwy50 one was super full. We have alot of the american stores here now like: walmart, ambercromie and fitch, bath and body works, menards , home depot, office max, etc. But it still seems odd. I dont miss the snow per say, mostly during the christmas season. I use to go alot to cracker barrel on the I-94, next to the knights inn. I also miss alot of the cheeses there are in wisconsin, i also miss Pick n Save alot, that was about a block from my house. What else is new in kenosha? I hope to go and visit in february. I have been spending alot of time taking care of my mother whom is all alone now, but at the same time she is getting stronger and can understand my going on vacation. I do have to say that the food here is alot better for you, since they dont use preservatives. Ive lost over 50 pounds, and am working on losing more. Let me know what else is happening in K-town. Also send me some fotos of yourselfs or recent images of kenosha. If you can send an image of pick n save or the target on hwy 50.

Re: Kenosha man in Costa Rica
The Cracker Barrel is still there and doing good. We like to go out there sometimes for dinner and eat breakfast. lol Uncle Hershels is great. But I like to pick the fried cat fish for my meat since I discovered I really like their coating on the fish there.
Target I heard is actually going to build a larger..Super Target... out further west near the 'I' by the Famous Dave's. Not sure what if anything is going into the old Target building. Our Walmart is also building a new building near Greenbay Road and going to be a Super Walmart. I've heard different things about the old Walmart building. The lastest is that Walmart will also stay there until another store is located to go into the building, then I have heard that they are leaving the building within a year. Who knows on that one.
Not sure if you have seen the new Lowes, Red Robin, Ben and Jerry's, on Greenbay. That is pretty recent.
The Pick and Save on hwy 50 use to be huge but they remodled the whole building and Pick and Save became much smaller and is in only part of the building now. They did build a new Pick and Save east of Kenosha. They tore down the old Brass Factory and put the store in, a bank, and also just built near by a new school. They are closing the Lincoln Eelementary School and the Columbus School and merging the two into the new school building.
There has been a few new cafe's put in downtown, Mo's Cafe, is one of them. They started putting in a Bob Chin's downtown but after several years of trying to finish the work to open I just heard the work has been stopped. Guess there is something about money issues in starting it up.
They just tore up 7th Ave from about 45th Street all the way north and put in all new pavement and a new middle border. It really adds a nice touch through the area there.
Jewel on Greenbay closed and Sentry took over. I hated the store the first time I went in and refused to go back. It was disorganized, over priced, and unfriendly employees. No surprise to me that 7 months later I just read that Sentry is now closing.
Whew...as you can see things never stay the same and Kenosha is forever changing and growing around here.
I usually have a camera with me and if I do when I'm out by Target I'll snap a pic and post it here for you.
Hope you have a great warm 'palm tree' style Christmas with your family and think of all of us here with our snow. lol That is if the snow sticks around. It was in the 40's today and suppose to rain this weekend. lol Wisconsin you just gotta love it.
And I also would like to say how sorry I am on the death of your father. It is difficult to lose a parent as I'm sure you now know. I lost my mom 4 years ago this November and there is not a day that I don't miss her so much. She was a wonderful parent and life is so different without her here with us.
Take Care.

Re: Kenosha man in Costa Rica
PK - thanks for the update . I didnt like sentry anyway. I was more of a pick n save guy myself. Man are things a changin´in K-town. I really need to go and see how things are now. My younger brother just left kenosha and moved to North carolina. Hope you have a beautiful Christmas as well. I am going to be at work, so I can´t say I will be able to enjoy christmas or new years as much as I would like to have. But so is life,,,work, sleep and then you die. Man life should be different. I cant complain things have looked good so far, i will be completely happy as soon as my wife and I have our house, we are working on the child, as we dont have one yet, only been married 10 months, but when God wants, we will have our family. Thanks AJE - for the reply on my fathers death, its been hard but I need to be strong for my mom. Took her out shopping yesterday and that helps ease her mind. See you guys soon.
