Re: Wisconsin's news snippets

Many times while growing up I would hear the story from my mom as to how Honey saved my oldest brother and sister's lives. They had whooping cough and nothing would stop them from coughing or from vomiting. They were getting worse and my mom didn't know what to do. She started feeding them bits of bread soaked in honey. It not only soothed their coughing but also their stomachs and they were finally able to keep food down.

Anyone read this one? A bracelet was found in a chicken after it was lost 25 years ago......

Quote:
Workers at Olson Locker in Fairmont were cutting the meat of chickens that came from an Elmore farm when one of them, Brittany McDonald, came across a shiny object in a chicken gizzard. McDonald, whose grandfather owns the locker, saw Aaron's name, address and phone number engraved on it.

Lodi firefighters snatch raccoon family from tree 11-27-07

Quote:
Employees at a nearby dental clinic called Animal Control Services after seeing one of the raccoons fall from the 30-foot-tall tree near the corner of Fairmont Avenue and Tokay Street and hit the sidewalk.
There was another coon spoted hanging from a branch in the tree as well and that coon also fell, but unharmed. The condition of the injured coon is unknown at this time.

Rescuers decided to pull the rest of the raccoons from the tree and use a blanket as a make-shift safety net. The family was taken to animals control for safe-keeping.

It's very late in the year for babies this age!!

Cops Chase Krispy Kreme Truck

How often do you see a Krispy Kreme truck being chased by Police cars? Well it happened here in Wisconsin the other day. While doughnuts were flying out the truck that was going at high speeds of up to 80 miles per hour, the police gave chase.

The sweet tooth thief was eventually stopped. Apparently the police cars caught the whole chase on video that was equipped on the car.

Maybe they will keep a copy of this movie in the break room so the police can watch it while they eat their doughnuts.

Re: Wisconsin's news snippets

OK, I think I would not want to be known as the 'blow-up doll thief" but that is what Jose Sandoval's title of fame is going to be now. Apparently he admitted to the burglary of the talking love doll and a few other items that were worth $270.00 from a Naughty Novelties Store in Wisconsin.

His car was caught on a security camera which helped the police find Sandoval 10 days later.

In tears he admitted it was a 'drunken, stupid thing" to do...You think? lol

WHOOPS!! This employee closed the gas station for the night and hit the wrong keys. Gas was being sold for .33 a gallon. The station closed up at 10 pm, but you could still pump gas if you had your credit card.

The station went thru 568 gal of gas in an hour and 45 min......

Happened in Minocqua, WI

Re: Wisconsin's news snippets

I guess the owner wasn't upset with the employee..said it was an honest mistake. He was however disappointed in how many dishonest people there are that would take advantage of this situation.

So...question here...how many of us would grab the cheap gas and run?

Re: Wisconsin's news snippets

Now that's a good question.

I was at BP yesterday and they have 2/$3.00 AMPS. They guy said "Are these on sale?" I said "YES" He rang it up and said "$2.10 please"
Puzzled I said "They are on sale for 2 for 3 buck" Then he thanked me over and over for being honest about the price because he could have gotten in trouble for that whoops!!

There is so many times I just automatically tell the cashier that they made a mistake in the price if they charge me to little. I think afterwards..wow, I could have got that cheaper! But I guess my mouth is quick to be honest. lol

Re: Wisconsin's news snippets

Stuffed Groundhog Day??

Apparently Milwaukee Zoo is finding themselves in somewhat of a strange problem....what to do for Groundhog Day if there is no Groundhog?? The Groundhog that has been used to predict how much Winter is left has passed away during the year leaving the Zoo wondering what to do.

Since not just any Groundhog will do they fear they may not find a replacement before the National Holiday. They are looking for gentle or shy groundhog since the animal is also part of the children's zoo.

The only answer so far if a groundhog isn't found by 'the' day will be to use a fake or rather a stuffed animal stuck in the snow for the event. What?

Let's hope a gentle groundhog is found soon.

Re: Wisconsin's news snippets

Remeber the old phone booths years ago? Well soon you will be saying that about the Stamp Machines....

By the end of May the U.S. Postal Service will be saying goodbye to the 22,000 stamp machines around the country. With online service, and being able to order over the phone, the good old stand by stamp machines are not being used like they use to be. With the lower usage and the cost to maintain the machines and parts harder to find the Postal Service had to make the choice to remove the machines. Just in 2005 the U.S. Postal Sevice spent around $66 million dollars on just vending related expenses.

This makes me wonder if they will no longer spend millions on maintaining machines, will the cost of stamps get lowered?? lol OK, that was just a funny thought.
