Wisconsin Governor Jim Doyle said he considers Minnesota a sister state, and he's offering the state's emergency services to Minnesota after the Interstate 35 bridge collapse.
Already emergency response teams from Wisconsin are assisting. "I understand last night there were divers at St. Croix County Sheriff's Department there were there and are on standby as the Army Corps of Engineers has secured that site," Governor Doyle said.
The governor said the state Department of Transportation is now trying to determine how many of Wisconsin's bridges are similar to the one in Minneapolis. He's also promising a close and careful look at the bridge inspection process in Wisconsin.
