If we keep consuming oil the way we do today your right, one day, maybe in less that 10 years gas will be $10.00 or more.
Gas today was $2.78
Try to figure this out.
A DIY backyard mechanic can convert a gas powered car to electric for between $7000 - $10,000 (plus the cost of used car) <-- would be way cheaper but the parts are way overpriced.
Anyway Joe the backyard machanic can go and buy a New gas powered car for say $20,000, convert the car to electric, price tag: $27,000 - $30,000.
He can even sell the discarded new gas engine and other expensive parts and save even more money.
Now get this.
Bob Lutz of GM says it would cost $100,000 to build an electric car, What As far as I'm concerned GM wants us to stay on oil.
Chevy Volt - Price tag: $40,000
Joe's New Electric car - Price tag: $27,000 - $30,000
Now let's factor in the Government rebate of $7500
GM Chevy Volt - $32,500
Joe's New electric car - $19,500 - $23,500

Does Joe's New electric car come with a manufacturers warranty? What happens when Joe's New electric car breaks down?
Hi CreedFeed. I'm glad you have questions on electric vehicles. Your two questions are easy to answer but can you wait till Tuesday, it's after 12:00A.M. and I need to get some sleep. If you have any other questions please ask, if I can answer them I will
Whew...seems as if the gas price is still coming down a bit. $2.49 here today.
When we departed from Appleton on Friday 7/3/09 gas was 2.59/gallon and when we arrived in St. Coud,MN on Friday 7/3/09 Gas was 2.39/gallon. That must be the difference in road tax, although I saw no significant differences between the roads in Wisconsin and Minnesota.
Nice to see it drop in price. Do you think people are holding back on their summer road trips?

Still falling $2.38 today.
I wonder if they didn't notice a big drop in vacation trips and realized they better do something for all the tourist areas. But then again with 15 states hitting over 10 percent unemployment rates I'm sure many can't go on vacations even if they drop the gas prices. Things are just rough all over and it's hard to think about a vacation.

I filled my tank yesterday at 2.26/gallon in Appleton. I put in 10.59 gallons in a 11Gallon tank Sometimes I hit it hen gas is high and sometimes I hit it when gas prices are low. As I was filling the tank I recalled a time when the gallon numbers whne up fastered that the price. Those were the "good old days" {8^)

Went to my favorite place to get gas today and tried to put my card in and...nothing. What?
I looked a bit harder and noticed the pump was dark. So I started looking around and realized I was the only one there, then my son said something about the building looked odd and dark. He went up to check the door and it was locked in the middle of the afternoon. The open sign was dark. The place looked a mess inside. They were closed and guess out of business. Looking around we then noticed a 4 sale sign by the other driveway into the station.
Another lady pulled in and was going to get gas and I mentioned the place was closed. She was shocked. When leaving yet another car was pulling in. Guess no one knew this was going to happen.
I really liked going there since it really was an easy place to get in and out of the way it was set up.
Hopefully another will open up there soon. But I guess the bad times just hit another good business.

Does anyone use fuel perks from Pick N Save?
You use your rewards card with each purchase (or enter your ph# into the card machine) & it keeps track for you, for each $50 spent you save 10 cents per gallon of gas at any BP.
I been doing this for quite a while & when my kids lived at home i was saving anywhere from 80 cents to over a dollar per gallon a couple times a month when i'd fill up, but it's less now that i only buy groceries for myself, though i also use less gas now thats its just me too.
When gas was at $2.65, i paid $1.85 a gallon... i shop Pick N Save anyway, since it's near home & has great prices, so its a great "perk".
After shopping today i will fill my tank at BP (near my house) and pay $1.90 per gallon (reg $2.55).
If you have a store near you it's worth checking out... Pick N Save or Copps.
Yes, gas prices are almost always cheaper in MN as they do have a lower gas tax. It increased a little earlier this year, but it is still cheaper. Example, paid $2.59/gallon in Baldwin yesterday, same day went to Woodbury, MN - it was $2.40/gallon. We've also noticed that NW WI seems to have the highest prices for gas in the entire state.
We getting ready to relocate from Appleton to St. Croix county (borders MN). SO MANY people commute from the county into eastern MN for work. It's our opinion that a rail system be built that runs from Eau Claire into the Cities. People would love that - especially with bad roads in the winter!

I've been shopping at Pick N Save for years and never knew they did this. Is this all the time? I spend an average of $120 per week on groceries, so I'm sure this would come in very handy.

Yep all the time. Do you use their rewards card for deals? You get awesome deals with the card, i cant imagine you spend that much & not use their rewards card. just using the card you are earning gas perk money.
Look at the bottom of your receipt, it tells u how much you have earned each visit & a total per gallon you will save. the 'perks' end 3 months from the date you earn them, so it will also tell you if you have any perks ending that month. (i have never seen that, since i use mine within 3 months of grocery shopping a few times).
At the pump, insert your pick n save rewards card at the pump like you would a credit card, it tells you to wait (around 20 seconds) then tells you how much your gas will be per gallon, run your debit/credit card like normal & there you have it, you save bigtime.

Piggly Wiggly offers the same program through BP. The shoppers card comes in handy.

I use my card all the time. In fact I went last night, spent $118, saved $42. I wonder if only some stores participate, because I look ove my receipt all the time.
according to the news last night the jump in price has nothing to do with demand or barrel price (which is at less than $80 now), but more so to do with the economy doing better, therefore the stations needing to make up some money from the economic downfall... I haven't even made up any money from our economic downfall & now i wont because the cost of living is kicking my butt... like the gas prices for instance!
Our gas here in SW Missouri jumped from a low of $2.07 to a current $2.45... I read somewhere recently that Missouri has the lowest gas prices in the nation.
