Does anybody know

if there is some kind of program(s) out there that helps low income people get help with car repairs? I know there is some for home repairs but I wonder if there is for auto too???

I would recommend posting on our classifieds and places like craigslist.org. Explain the needs of your project and what you're able to pay (or barter) for the repair. There are many pro and amateur mechanics out there looking for side projects. For the cost of parts and bartering your time for something like yard work, you may find a mechanic that can meet your budget.

Don't be afraid to grill anyone that offers to take the job. You want to make sure you're getting a decent repair, not a mess you'll need a professional to take care of later.
