There really is alot of great places to visit in Wisconsin. The few places I posted was just a hint of what's out there.
I will post a few more soon. I'll try to add a variety of places so there is something for everyone.
I'm sure others must know of some really fun places to check out they can add also.

You don't have to eat those stuffed squirrels and chipmunks, just look at them. It's a museum, not a restaurant.
They might even let you pet the squirrel, or the chipmunk.
Enjoy!

Speaking of stuffed Chipmunks; The Moccasin Bar in Hayward is an interesting place to visit. They have several interesting taxidermy scenes, and a replica of the world record muskie, and some other impressively huge fish. Hayward has much more than that, like the giant, fish-shaped museum, the annual World's Lumberjack Championships, etc., but the Moccasin is a favorite stop.

I remember when we visited Hayward about 13 years ago and went to the fish museum. My oldest son loved checking it out all the way up to the top.

Freshwater Fishing Hall of Fame and Museum, Haywood WI
The highlight of the museum complex is a landmark "Shrine to Anglers" which is a structure one-half city block long and four and one-half stories tall, of concrete, steel and fiberglass, hand-sculpted into the likeness of a leaping fish (Muskie). Its innards are a museum and its gaping open jaw accommodates about 20 persons or more as an observation platform. The landmark is surrounded by a quarter-acre nature pond.

The Moccasin Bar, in downtown Hayward, is a great place to stop for a cool refreshing drink and see some of the best mounted fish and wildlife in Wisconsin, including the largest Musky on record! Located at the intersection of Hwy 27 & 63, The Moccasin Bar serving cold drinks and tasty pizza since 1900.
At just over 5 ft. long, and weighing in at 67 ½ pounds, this mammoth fish, caught over 50 years ago, still holds the World Record for the largest musky ever caught - July 24 1949 on Lac Courte Oreilles by Cal Johnson.
This is just one of many musky and sturgeon mounts scattered throughout the Moccasin Bar, where you can also find many other wildlife displays.

Consider a trip on our inland sea.
The S.S. Badger gets underway from Manitowoc, and arrives in Ludington, Michigan 5 hours later.
View the details of the ship, and amenities at the website.

I took a cruise on the S.S. Badger shortly after finishing my tour of duty in the U.S.Navy. At that time, I was making comparisons between being on the lake, and the "Big Pond" (Pacific Ocean). The car ferry really doesn't compare to an aircraft carrier, but it sort of did the trick, as far as water coming over the bow. Needs to be salt water to encompass the full effect.

On my way to Nebraska on Monday I stopped at the visitors center off of 39 at the WI/IL boarder. They did not have the road trip tour book guide I have been looking for.
Wish I could find that again. It was a great book with lots of tours thru WI.

Oh, that reminds me...I have this book titled "Alluring Wisconsin" by Fred L. Holmes. It was written in 1937, but it highlights many of Wisconsin's natural beauty spots that are still around today. I must read it again now.
Check your library for it.
Thanks PK, for all the info on Hayward. Good Report.

There's always the obvious tourist spots like House on the Rock... but if you like the outdoors, Door County is great. I usually go up there with my family every year. Lots of great scenery everywhere you go up there!
Peninsula State Park is pretty nice. Lots of hiking trails, a historic lighthouse, a huge tower overlooking the Door County valley...

As someone else already stated, Newport State Park is very nice too.
A short ferry trip to Washington Island from the northern tip of Door County is also a great day-trip. There's a few historic places to visit on the island and you can always catch a ferry from there to hit Rock Island State Park!

Also if you're looking for something to do in mid-October, you can hit up the largest festival in Door County - the Sister Bay Fall Festival. It's very crowded so if you go you need to make reservations ahead of time for lodging. But there's lots of stuff to do outdoors, no matter what the weather is. They have a parade in the morning down highway 42 through town, lots of arts and crafts exhibits in the local park, food and drink vendors all over the place!! Definately a good time if the cold weather and larger crowds don't bother you.
Enjoy!

Shipwrecks
In cooperation with the Wisconsin Historical Society, Door County is establishing a Maritime Trail, providing divers and landlubbers another taste of the county's remarkable maritime heritage. Over 200 shipwrecks lie in the waters surrounding Door County and have attracted divers for years. The cold fresh water preserves the wrecks and provides divers an opportunity to view these historic vessels. With the addition of land based historic markers, everyone can learn about the rich heritage entombed in the waters of Lake Michigan and Green Bay.
For all the detailed information about the shipwrecks in the Door County as well as surrounding areas please check out the following:
