Here is a link to the Iowa DOT page that has some pictures from our blizzard a week ago. Maybe the Highway Patrol was right when they said "travel not advised"!

No speedos here. There ought to be a law regarding this. To walk around in public wearing only a speedo is indecent exposure....unless you're swimming or tanning at the beach...maybe.
Those pictures of the snow in Iowa are amazing. That' just too darn much!

OK....I'm making the call. No more snow. Spring has sprung. We'll just have to wait until next December. Maybe November. Certainly our "Snow Bunnie" friends can find something to do until then. I'm gearing up for mosquito swatting, and a nice shade tree with a breeze blowing.

The birds are singing, we are having Spring rain storms, yesterday it was in the higher 60's, and our grass is starting to turn green...

Spring is here for sure!

ok, my last post was the positive side of thinking...

but I just have to add a story that I think about every year.

Many, many years ago when I was around 7-9 years old on April 15th it was a beautiful day out. We had light weight jackets on if any, riding our bikes all over and thinking summer thoughts.

I on the other hand kept saying that I 'wished' for snow on my birthday. Everyong told me that couldn't happen, it was Spring and beautiful outside.

My birthday? April 16th. The next day.

A cold spell came through that night and we were hit with a snowstorm for my birthday. lol

Every year after that someone in my family would tell me that I better not wish for SNOW on my b-day! Believe me I never did again! lol

So you never know what will happen in the Spring around these parts.

smile now this is for fun

the snow has melted
the grass is brown
my computer won't boot-up
and I am feelin' down
spring may have sprung
winter may be gone
but snow could still
fall upon my lawn
so many winter projects
still left undone
too many tasks
and some are not much fun
the street crews are out
filling the potholes everyday
yet snow could fall
and plow would scrape it all away
the streets are dirty, they look obscene
every where I look
winter rubbish is seen
summer is comming
they say it is so near
that soft breeze
and a glass of beer
the birds are singing
so I read the post
its pouring rain
temperature in the 60's ,so is the boast

but it was not that
long ago
that I heard some birds sing
just before the snow

that's the day
I was irked
cause the snow hit my widshield
and my wipers did not work

seasons go
and seasons pass
if you get in my way
you can just sit down
in the grass

Yesterday I was complaining it was hot outside.
Today less than 24 hours later we are around 30 degrees colder.
I went back to a sweater and a coat this afternoon.

So far I'm ok with the cool off... but will start really hating it if it decides to drop snow on us again!

AlumniClub has a little shameless behaviour in the past
fog

There will still be snow this spring.

I worked with a guy that told me a wives tale and I can't find info on it does anyone know of this one???

When spring begins and the first fog sets in... then ___ days after it will snow?

It was foggy in Mosinee the first day of spring.

I don't know about the spring wives tail..the frost coming out of the ground, creating fog....but in the autumn, it's 90 days after a heavy fog that the first major/measurable snow hits.
About that time, the A/C comes out of the window deal.

when there is fog in the morn
and the first day of spring
a wives tales warns
snow will begin

for there is more to this message
more than a clue
fog in the air
makes for morning dew

some look to the past
to predict what lies ahead
others says it's crazy
like turning gold into lead

some make much of an ado
to predict what is to come
by mystical clues

is it the sun
is it the moon
or how they reflect
upon a spoon

others rant and rave
on how we would be better off
in a cave

some ask for snow
in the middle of april
I've seen it May
and was NOT grateful

but then I've heard thunder
when snow was falling down
lightening with ice
in the middle of town

they call it hail
what h do I know
it comes with rain
and when the east winds blow

I watch the weather man
on the TV at at night
he may not be correct
but he is usually half-right

you might question
the need for this post
don't pay any mind
it comes from a ghost

Friends of mine in Colorado just called. They are in white out conditions right now. Getting hit with a lot of snow.
I sure hope it does not find it's way to WI.
