I know there's another topic about good eats in Wisconsin, but I'm looking for a specific type of cuisine so I figured I would start a new thread.
Simply put, what's your favorite place for a fish fry in the state?
Several years ago my family used to go to a place called The Chalet, which was a bar and restaurant located just west of 60th Street on Beloit Avenue. That place was very cheap ($7.95 I think) and offered a great all-you-can-eat fish fry with excellent quality fish and very good coleslaw. Unfortunately they closed
Another place we've discovered is Lakeside Inn on Scenic Phantom Lake, which is located right on Phantom Lake in Mukwonago (unfortunately their webpage on Foodspot appears to be gone now). The fish fry also comes with excellent quality beer battered or breaded cod. You also get the choice of potato - fries, potato pancakes or parsly boiled potatos - coleslaw, and rye bread. If you like bread, order a loaf of their italian bread - it's perfect!
Finally because of some coupons in the mail I have tried the fish fry at Boulder Juntion (specifically the one in Greenfield on 76th Street) [website] Their fish fry is not all you can eat but you get 4 large pieces of cod with bread, coleslaw, potato choice, and soup or salad. At $9.95 it's pretty reasonable.
I don't get the hype about some fish fry restaurants. I've been to Meyers on Forest Home Ave. and did not think it was all that hot. I've gone to Serb Hall on several occasions and thought that was terrible as well. The fish was mushy and soggy there and the coleslaw is not your standard creamy coleslaw.

Just a small Nautical themed resturant in the corner of a L shaped building.
Good fish, no smoking, they have a bar seperate from the resturant.
Too Bad they don't have spotted cow beer on tap.
I can not quote prices but they are very reasonable 8-10 buck for perch or haddock.
Cooked and served in the tradition of a friday night fish fry at a local tavern :P
It is NOT all you can eat but I can only eat what is served.
Now if someone served deep fried cod, spotted cow, chips with malt vinegar I would go there :P
I know of a place in a small town in Wisconsin name "Borth" that serves deep fried blue gills and they are GOOD, but I forgot the name or the bar, But they also smoke there  a big draw back.
My dad used to make bluegills like noone else. He cooked outside and got the oil to poit where it was smoking and then dropped the fish in. They seared instantly and did not soak up much oil but they were HOT and GOOD :P

I can honestly say that when i plan to go out to strictly fish, yes i get my dinners. If i just go to paddle and cast for the heck of it i dont focus as much on locations or structures and the such. I have only been skunked 3 times in my life of fishing...in 40 years of living i bet 35 of them have been spent fishing. I was lucky enough to have been taught at a young age. Plus having a family cottage right on a lake helped too! Anytime anyone wants to fish with me...im always looking. If you like to eat fish i can make sure you will get them. I prefer panfish myself but if you like to eat bass i can make sure you take the limit home everytime.

Wendt's On The Lake is a VERY well known fish place (and other great menu items) around the Fond du Lac/Oshkosh area. They also have excellent customer service and alot of special events in the winter and summer. It's right on Lake Winnebago so if you're on the boat..you pull your boat up to the dock and eat!
You guys are making me hungry! lol I've got a major craving for fish but don't feel like going out and getting it, or hauling the kids with the way they are already. Oh well, maybe some other time.

The place in Borth is called Jorge's (short for the owners name: Jorgensen) On Tuesdays they serve Blue Gill and/or Lobser bit baskets, and they are fabulous. Friday night fish is also wonderful.
April - November they hold monthly outdoor steak fry, and everyone eats well and has fun!
Next to the fresh caught blue gill filets we fix at home, Jorge's serves up a some good food!

I had some pretty good fried fish at a chinese buffet yesterday, no idea what kind it was.. they also had some kind of fish (not trout) that still had the skin and head on.. no way was I gonna try that!
I make it a habit to try as many different places that offer fish fry throughout the year. The place that cooks up the best is 'Green Acres' in Sauk City, hands down. Simply the best flaky beer-battered fish in the state and an exceptional salad bar. Beware that once you try this place you will have a new gold standard to compare all others. They also have Spotted Cow on tap and (like most other places now) are non-smoking.
Coincidentally one other place in the vicinity seem to have the same fish fry recipe, Fitzgeralds (Middleton).
