family affair

Hey, I was wondering if anyone knows activities to do in Milwaukee with a young child. I have a 4 year old and she loves downtown milwaukee. I just need to find some things for us to do. Hopefully something cheap too!

Milwaukee Museums: Discovery World Museum at Pier Wisconsin

Hands-on science labs, a television studio, aquariums, changing interactive exhibits and more.

I heard this is an awesome new museum for kids of all ages.

We tried to go there this summer but they weren't open yet. (still putting final touches on the inside). Easy to find and beautiful area near lake and Betty Brims Museum.

Pier Wisconsin is open now and sounds fantastic!

There's always the Milwaukee County Zoo. If you're willing to travel out of Milwaukee a bit, you could take the kids skating at the Pettit National Ice Center.

The domes are suppose to be beautiful, expecially this time of year. Looking forward to going there with my kids.

Those are all great idea's. I think that I have played out the zoo, but I deffinatly think that I will take her to discovery world museum. I will probably buy a family membership. I am glad she loves to be downtown. I have started bringing her on the weekends to walk along the riverwalk and enjoy the scenery! It is great mother/daughter time.

I saw a commercial last night about children's activities in Milwaukee. If you have cable (or have a friend who does), I guess the Wisconsin On Demand channel has a "For Kids" category that has information on some child-friendly activities in the city.

Yeah, I didn't know until I saw the commercial either. I haven't checked it out though. Are the suggestions from the channel any good?

Just went to Discovery World yesterday with the kids. It is a totally fun time for kids. If you have a chance to check it out, do so, it's worth the trip.

One section was really awesome, you walk through a 'tunnel' of glass that fish are swimming in. It really felt as if you were under the water with the fish. The floor was also see through and you could see quite a ways down as if it was the ocean floor. Lots of fun.
