squirrels and fruit trees

Last year squirrels ate all of the pears and apples off of my trees before they were ripe enough to pick. :cry: How can I keep this from happening this year? Also (tad off topic....) any tips on how and when to prune these trees?

pellet gun...I recommend one that will deliver a shot at 1000 feet per second.
If you are looking at a time consumption issues, try rat traps, with some peanut butter in a baggie and wrap it around the trigger on a rat trap.
