I developed a small waterfall (10') which drains into a really small pond that I can step across. Anyway, the pond isn't deep enough to plant water lillies, but I wanted color in it anyway. PLANT IMPATIENTS...just shake off as much soil as possible and wedge the roots among the rocks to keep the leaves above the water. I did this last summer and the impatients thrived. They were a beautiful addition.
today after seeing your new post/picture. I did not realize that you have been on here for quite awhile. Glad to see you back and posting again.
Your idea is very interesting. Never thought to do this with impatients. And love the added picture to show how beautiful this idea can look in your pond area.
Your welcome! An added bonus is that you can insert the impatients into the pond sooner than you could plant them on land as the water will protect them from a light frost and of course they will again be protected by light frost when the fall arrives.
I can say those impatients have grown very well, the goldfish love all the hiding areas and we've got 3 frogs hopping about. Although, I hope mom will post an updated picture soon of the pond. lol

I too found this interesting and will pass along to my friends who have ponds. Thanks!

I always enjoyed Laurie's posts and her pictures of her garden and birds around her yard. Hopefully she will come back on this year and show us how her pond is doing this year.
