I'm running this in an alternative energy thread and thought it was worth running as a stand-alone in our gardening Forum. I think this is cool.
Peak Moment 123: Landscape architect Owen Dell has a vision: transforming suburban neighborhoods into shared "foodsheds" with food-bearing and native plants, and even chickens. Neighbors can start by finding edible plants already growing in their yards, maybe remove fences, plant what works best in each location. Best of all, share the resulting food abundance with one another ("Hey, it's lemon time. Come and get 'em!") and build the social network with shared food potlucks. Tour Owen's own edible landscape yard, including a rooftop container garden complete with visiting cat. [ http://www.owendell.com , www.mesaexchange.org]
Here's another along the line of sustainable living. Edible Landscaping - Living on the Cheap and Easy Part 1

This is the first in a series that I will be doing on the subject of living on the cheap and easy. I am an expert in doing that. When it is appropriate, I will try to point you to additional resources on the subject.
Charlie Nardozzi Takes you by the hand and walks you through getting started on your own edible landscaping project with his "Edible Landscaping Primer". http://www.garden.org/ediblelandscapi...
Many of the images used to show you what I mean and what can be done were blatantly obtained through Google search as was much of the other content of this video.
